About This Listing
This fabulous house is located right under the Parthenon, literally in the shadow of Acropolis in the known historical area of Plaka. It has two bedrooms (one double bed and two single beds) and a living room (with a single sofa bed). Apart from the balcony which has a great view of Lycabetus hill and the city of Athens there is a terrace , with a surface of 30sq.m facing the Acropolis where you can relax an enjoy the view.
The metro of Acropolis is less than 200m far from the house. In this area you will see all Athens' sights by walking.
Anafiotika area is a very picturesque (website hidden) is also know as "the island without a sea".Actually it gives the impression of an island with its small white-washed houses, narrow streets and steps, stone walls and gardens full with flowers.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact (website hidden) would be my pleasure to help!
Though, the house is independent from other buildings, this is a quiet area and no loud noises are allowed at inappropriate hours.
We are a family of 5 who lived in Rainas lovely apartment for a week in March / April . It's a super nice apartment, with a very special location . In walking distance to all the major sights, with incredible panoramic views of the city but also in a completely quiet area redefinering you of a village .
It is nice to stay in Anafiotika and it is A good idea to accept the offer to be picked up by Rainas neighbor who drives a taxi, at the airport. Along the way, you get a lot of good tips for sights and restaurants.
We felt very welcome and will love to go back another time
Perfect apartment, very good situation to visit the acropolis, near to the plaka and shopping street. We were very happy ! We recommend the apartment. Lovely balcony unser the Acropolis. We could walk everywhere we wanted. The area is charming with lots of good restaurants and bars like being on a tiny island.
This apartment perfectly suited our needs. It was just as the pictures depicted. We are a family of four, and having two twin beds for our children was so wonderful. The location was fantastic! Very central to most of the tourist attractions. You could easily walk to 3 different metro stops (Acropoli, Monstiraki or Syntagma), with the Acropoli one being the closest - only a 5 min walk. There are tons of restaurants and bars in the area, lots to choose from. It was super fun to just walk into the Plaka (felt like almost your backyard) or down by the Acropoli metro station and wander around looking for a yummy place to eat. The view from the windows in the apartment was so beautiful. I loved the shutters on the windows - very quaint. And the view from the rooftop patio was amazing. To sit and have a glass of wine while gazing up at the Acropolis was delightful. And I haven't even mentioned how nice Spiros (the taxi driver and neighbor), the grandmother downstairs, and Raina herself were to us. We used Spiros for a trip to the Oracle at Delphi (280 Euros) and while he might have been more expensive than a big tour bus, it was so much better to not have to wait for others and he took us to some additional places (war monument, monastery, cute lunch place, etc). There was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the apartment when we arrived, and the grandmother downstairs (who doesn't speak any English but was so loving and nice) gave us fresh fruit and a sweet dessert sample. But the nicest thing that she did was help me when my younger son got sick. He started vomiting in the middle of the night, and proceeded to puke all over several sets of linens, towels, 2 pillows, the duvet, etc. It was a mess. I tried to rinse it out as best I could, but the kind grandmother immediately took over when she heard that we were having a problem. She whisked away all of the dirty linens, and quickly brought fresh ones. She even offered (through Rania) to make my son chicken soup, and she fed me a nice casserole that I think that she had intended to eat herself. I felt so bad about the trouble we were causing, but they all made us feel welcome and loved. The grandmother even kissed my cheeks when I later brought her a lavender plant to try to help with the stink of my sons illness. I would highly recommend this apartment to any family of 3 or 4 people, and I would certainly stay there again if we ever return. And use Spiros to pick you up from the airport (and take you back) as the hill to the apartment would be difficult with luggage. There are not very many grocery stores around, since it's mostly a tourist area, so make sure you ask them. Lovely!
