The space

Dukuh VIllage Homestay is part of a charming Balinese compound just outside a small village 6kms north of Ubud, Bali. It is run by Made Arka, a fine traditional and modern artist, and his wife Rinin. There are three accommodation options; a 'backpacker' room, a double downstairs room and two private villas and this listing.

Di Atas is a suite of 2 rooms; a large bedroom and an office/studio, which can also have a bed if required for additional family members or friends.

The rooms share a large upstairs terrace with great views of ricefields, trees and the sunset sky, with mountains in the distance on a clear day. It's beautiful! There is also your own equipped kitchen for optional, which is unusual in budget accommodation in this area; All price include a breakfast, your bathroom has hot water and a bath. There is wifi, a small lending library, off road parking for motorbikes (not cars).
There is no public transport in the area, but local private drivers can be engaged at reasonable rates for trips to town or tours.
There is a restaurant in easy walking distance at a neighboring resort, and a wide variety of food and cafes available in Ubud town. Also delivery food available from Ubud restaurant.

This is a traditional family home, so guests can feel they are in the 'real Bali', with the daily round of ritual offerings, tending the land and animals and extended family activities going on all around- while also having privacy and the company of a small number of other guests. Painting classes are available, as well as daily home cooking classes, market trips, making offerings and other aspects of Bali life. A swimming pool at a nearby resort can be used by Homestay guests with extra charge.

We can recommend and give local-knowledge advice to travellers about Indonesian language teachers, dance and music classes, yoga and the many other activities around Ubud.

Bali authentic holiday, located Homestay&Villas rice terrace and forest, we are a Balinese family who have opened our traditional family compound to guests from other countries. (This rest of this profile is written by an English speaking friend of the family, so it is about them.. not written as 'i')

The excellent location of this family homestay is one of the main reasons guests first choose it- it is a beautiful, rural area just north of busy Ubud. Then people realize that the real treasure is the family who run it.
The father of the family is Made Arka. He is a well known Balinese artist, and still teaches art classes from home as well as at ARMA museum in central Ubud. He has visited Australia for an exhibition of his paintings and is well educated and open minded- he loves to learn about other countries .

The mother of the family is Nyoman Rinin. She worked for many years in hotels in Ubud, so she understands how to look after guests well. They can both speak English and like to share Balinese culture with their guests, either by chatting on the shared veranda's or by taking people on tours around the island.
They are genuinely kind and honest people. Staying at Dukuh VIllage Homestay&Villas with them is a real insight into Balinese family life, while having comforts like hot water and wifi.
