Description

The space

A sweet, three-story townhouse in the heart of brownstone Brooklyn, our comfortable home is the perfect oasis while you explore New York City.

Ideal for a family, the house has been recently renovated and features a large fully stocked kitchen, a full dining room, three bedrooms, a TV/guest room, a landscaped backyard, and two and a half baths. The entire space has been lovingly decorated with a mix of modern and antique furnishings.

The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the two children's bedrooms each have a single-size sleeping loft. A den/guest room includes a day bed that converts into two single beds. Wi-Fi and Apple TV available as well.

Our neighborhood is conveniently located within a few blocks of several train stations, giving you easy access to all of New York City via the A/C/B/D/F/G/Q/N/R/4/5/2/3 lines.

If you'd like to stay close to home and explore the best of Brooklyn, you are a few blocks from Smith and Court Streets and Atlantic Avenue, all of which feature TONS of restaurants, bars and independent shops.

Finally, several playgrounds are within walking distance of the house, including Pier 6--a fantastic and deluxe new park located right on the East River.

Please contact us with any questions about our home or the neighborhood.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire house. They do not have access to the music studio in the basement.

Interaction with guests

We interact very little with guests. We will not be present during the stay.

The neighborhood

Boerum Hill is possibly the most poplar neighborhood in all of Brooklyn. It attracts famous actors, writers, artists, and even a few musicians. While it has become quite expensive lately, the small town feeling remains. It feels like a village with everything within walking distance. My family has lived here for 17 years.

Other things to note

Our house is great for families. Most renters are a family with kids plus grandparents or friends.

House Rules

Guests need to be willing to take care of our two very low-maintenance cats--just make sure they have fresh food and water every day, and clean the litter.

The basement of our house is a music studio, and lessons may take place there during the day. The studio has a separate entrance, so students will not be coming through the living areas of the house at all. The studio is not a part of the rental agreement and should not be used by guests.

No smoking.

Our son and his wife arrived ahead of us and the house wasn't ready when they arrived the owner told them she was still cleaning. To be honest I have to report that the house wasn't all that clean especially the bathrooms. The mold and mildew in the 3rd floor bathroom was very unhygienic. The neighborhood was very convenient with many stores and restaurants and had easy access to the subway.

Response from Jessica:
I'm sorry you were not happy with your stay. You had said your son would be arriving at 1, and they got to the house before 12:30--so I was still preparing. However, I do appreciate your feedback about the house (previous guests have not brought up any issues about cleanliness), and will pay close attention to fixing the problems you cite. Thank you.

My family loved our stay in Brooklyn. The kitties were an extra special treat. The house was set up beautifully; it's very convenient to have restrooms on each floor. Jessica's detailed information was very helpful. Our trip went off without a hitch. We love NY!!

jessica is the perfect hostess. everything is simple, she answers fast, she leaves you great information about the area, shops, restaurants, interesting things to see around, she's always here to help ! her house is very convivial, full of life, convenient, nicely furnished, you feel at ease and as if you were at home at first glance, not to mention her two adorable cats, who were a great surprise for our two little girls !! the house is also perfectly situated in the best area of brooklyn, just a few meters from court ans smith streets, who are full of nice shops and restaurants… it's the house to book if you come to brooklyn !!! thanks jessica

We had an amazing time staying at Jessica and Nate's house for roughly a month. The home is well situated in Brooklyn with easy access to many subway lines. Our children, 2 and 5, loved having all of the toys they could play with. The size of the home is huge by NYC standards. It was also nice having a backyard with a bbq to relax at in the evening. Jessica was very accomodating and quick to respond to any of our questions. We have moved on to another rental and it's just not the same feel as their family home. If we stay in NYC again we will definitely see if their home is available.

Our family of five adults spent a very comfortable Christmas break at Jessica and Nate's lovely quaint home. The location was excellent for us and within walking distance of our relatives apartment and many of the stores, restaurants and parks in Brooklyn we are familiar with. We did not meet our hosts but our questions re: street parking and other inquiries were answered promptly by Jessica by email. The home is very child centred and my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter enjoyed visiting us in our home away from home. We discovered that the two cats like to 'hang out' under the bed in the master bedroom which was a bit disconcerting the first night when they wanted out of the room in the middle of the night but we got used to them. The plumbing in the bathroom on the second floor needs some work (minor leaks) but I'm sure that will be attended to prior to the next guest arriving. Also the hot water radiator heating system makes unique noises that also require some getting used to if you are not accustomed to these sounds. However being able provide comfortable, clean accommodation for such a large family group during the busy holiday season, complete with Christmas tree, for out weighs these minor concerns. We enjoyed our stay. .

A lovely, comfortable townhouse beautifully furnished and maintained, with warm and welcoming owners as hosts. Conveniently located in Brooklyn to stores and restaurants on Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue. When we arrived, Nate and Jessica were still getting ready for their trip, but took time not just to invite us in but even to serve us lunch! And, as a fringe benefit, we discovered that we all had a good deal in common.

I live with my husband and our two daughters--ages 15 and 12--in Brooklyn, which has been our home for more than 15 years. I own my own boutique PR agency, specializing in design and lifestyle brands, and my husband is a professional musician and runs a local music school, the Brooklyn Music Factory. Our daughters just like to hang out a lot and do kid things.

We love to travel during school holidays and the summer and hope you'll love our home as much as we do!
