So, I had mixed reactions about staying here, and none of it was Isabella's fault, but my own. The Villa is beautiful and old-world (I think it's 500 years old?) and in a charming town of Carmignano, which is near Prato, Pisa, Siena and Florence. If you're interested in seeing all of those major cities, and have a few days or weeks to do so, this is great place. Isabella and her family are lovely, warm people, who make you feel welcome and are more than willing to give you suggestions or to even arrange for outings and excursions. However, if you, like me, were only in the area to visit Florence, and you only have a day or two, I would recommend staying in the city proper. Public transportation is confusing at best, and the inn isn't in the closest of places (I took a train of Firenze SMN, a charter bus to Poggio a Caiano and then Isabella's father picked me up to drive me to Carmignano; there is a bus that goes direct from Carmignano to Prato Centrale, which you can take into Firenze, but trying to figure out the bus schedule is a nightmare). All in all, I had a nice stay, but most of my stress came from trying to figure out how to get to and from Firenze from the inn.
I loved staying at Isabella's beautiful Tuscan villa. I had such an amazing time, that I didn't want to leave. The home is set on a hill in a lovely town (Carmignano...where everything is in walking distance) that is within 30 minutes of Florence (highly recommend having a car). The Villa is just ridiculously beautiful, with antique furniture, frescoes, hidden doorways and Italian landscape paintings made by Isabella's grandfather. The view was stunning. It was so peaceful! There are birds, cats, dogs, and chickens calmly wandering around this gorgeous estate, it could not be more authentic and untouched. Isabella and her father were tremendous hosts, who both speak multiple languages! Isabella cooked us a delicious four course meal made with local produce, wine, and olive oil all made locally. The price is amazing for the quality and charm. You can also have a beautiful romantic dinner in the "tower" with the best view of Tuscany. We met and had dinner with the other lovely guests who had traveled from all over the world. I highly recommend a stay here and hope we have the opportunity to return one day.
Real histoircal house with good view of toscana. Isabella was super nice and kind I did not feel any inconvenience during my stay.
They did their best, the house is up on the hill with a very nice view, yet the BnB is still a little bit old.
Had an absolute fabulous time at Isabella's place. This place was perfect to take a break from my several months of backpacking around Europe. Her villa is one of the gorgeous places I have seen so far and the little town of Carmignano is just adorable (probably one of my favorite in Italy).
The room was clean and fresh towels were provided upon arrival. There is a decent breakfast (toast, coffee, sweet cakes) in the morning. You can also see the breathtaking view of Florence from the balcony while enjoying your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.
Isabella is very sweet. I didn’t really get to see her much or try her famous dinner as she was busy with her swimming competition but she was always available through texts or emails.
The bus situation from Carmignano to Poggio a Caiano or Poggio a Caiano to Florence is little tricky. I couldn’t really figure it out during my stay but Isabella or her son gave me and the other girl staying at the villa rides several times. Thanks so much for that! Having a car would definitely save time if anyone is planning to visit lot of places. As for me, I was there just to relax. So, it did not really bother me at all.
Thanks Isabella for everything and really hope to come back again. Best wishes!
