Really, really, central in SW1, only two minutes to the Victoria Line subway, we offer a comfortable, clean double room in a warm, quite, secure flat located close to Tate Britain.
We also have a single room from September 9th to Novemebr 9th for £35 a night.
We have a pleasant courtyard garden with BBQ, which looks out on green trees in a pedestrain square. Internet, weekly cleaner, etc all inlcuded with friendly well travelled professional family.
The best thing about this place is the central location. It is so quick to get anywhere in central London from here. Guests can hear Big Ben striking from their bed!
We are very well positioned here for most London sights. it is a 20 minute walk to Trafalgar Square through St James Park, but the best way to reach most attractions is to walk along the Thames Path. I really like walking along the River, it is quick and really interesting. Vauxhall is the nearest point and it is then quite quick to walk along the Thames to Westminster and the South Bank. There is a pier at Vauxhall and at Tate Britain for boats too. One my favorites is Tate 2 Tate which goes from just round the corner at Tate Britain to Tate Modern. I think the River is a great way to see London.
Pimlico Tube is 300 meters away and is in Zone One on the Victoria Line. We are very well placed for the various airports. It is just up the Victoria Line to St. Pancres for the train to Paris or the Heathrow Express. The Gatwick express comes into Victoria which is one stop away. So it couldn't be easier for international travellers.
the Victoria Line goes straight to Green Park ( 2 stops) for Piccadilly and Oxford Circus ( 3 stops).
The buses are a 24 which goes from Pimlico to Westminster Abby , Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and ends up on Hampstead Heath! I always send guests on this for a cheap orientation to the main sights.
The No 2 bus goes straight to Selfridges!!!!!! and Oxford Street , well that's a consumer trap..........and the 36 and 436 goes to Oxford Street too.
The best though is that the no. 360 goes straight from here to the Museums ie the V & A and the Natural History Museum via Sloane Square and the Sachi Gallery.
Oh! Yes Pimlico has dozens of restaurants including some very good inexpensive ones. The 'Cask' up the road is the best local pup and has great beers on tap but there are heaps of others.
There is a terrific street market which does wonderful lunches and is especially good from Thursday to Saturday.
We are a mostly organic household and I provided organic homemade muesli and homemade jam for breakfast with free range eggs decent organic coffee and let guests make there own when they feel like it. I also supply organic toiletries from ' Faith in Nature'. We may live in the city but we dont have to poison the planet.
The flat has lots of guidebooks, maps, A to Z's etc.
We amicably share the bathrooms and kitchen and the courtyard garden.
Interaction with Guests
Guest will need to be indepenadent.
Public transport is super easy and very quick to the whole of central London and to and from all airports.
OR you could walk to just abut anywhere!
Other Things to Note
This is ideal for longer term visitors to London, and very well placed for those wanting to do academic work or enjoy the art and culture of London - we are just round the corner from the Tate and on a direct bus route to the museums , V&A etc. The British Library and others are very accessible.
No smoking inside
A cracking location only a few hundred metres from Pimlico tube station. A lovely host who I wish I had more time to chat to. Very friendly and welcoming and a comfortable bed. I only stayed one night but would have happlily stayed longer.
Phillida was super nice and friendly. She gave me alotta informations about London. The room was cozy and clean, I could have a toast, fruits, milk and eggs for breakfast, and used kitchen whenever I wanted. Fantastic location, very close to underground (Pimlico station), Victoria, and the river. I got a cold, she made me a magical tea for getting better every morning. Nice and safe neighborhood as well. Everything was perfect!
Phillida was a great host, she gave me great ideas and tips about what to see and do in London including things that I wouldn't have known about on my own and about things that the rail travel information offices didn't mention or know about. All the things she mention enhanced my stay and what I saw in London and my enjoyment of my holiday there.
She is well prepared for the traveller and visitor to London and has a range of tourist-related booklets, information and maps which were SO helpful and I suggest you make use of them - invaluable. As were her hints and tips.
Phillida was most kind in coming to pick me up at/close to Pimlico Underground/tube station when I arrived, especially as it was a hot day for London. She is also wonderful to chat with, knowledgeable, friendly and interesting and, for me, that was one of the nice things staying in a host's house - that I had someone to have a chat with, especially as I was travelling alone.
Phillida's home in Pimlico is VERY, VERY WELL SITUATED to get around London and a bit further out by the use of PUBLIC TRANSPORT. The #24 bus goes into the City via a lot of tourist sites and at least 3 of the larger rail and bus hubs, being Charing Cross Station, Victoria Station and Tottenham Court Rd. AND IT IS A 24-HOUR A DAY, 7 DAY A WEEK SERVICE that runs very frequently. The Underground/Tube line from Pimlico station also runs frequently 7 days a week, although isn't 24 hours a day. That was fantastic.
Phillida has been very kind with us, we felt comfortable and she helped and suggested many places to visit. Every morning she prepared breakfast with fresh fruits, bread and homemaking jams, coffee and whatever you want! I suggest her place for these reasons and even for the facility by using bus and underground (it's very close!) I hope I'll come next time I'll be visiting London!
Phillida is wonderful, very kind, welcoming and helpful. Before arriving she sent us a mail with all the details on how to arrive to her home. The house is very central 2min walk from pimlico tube station, and other bus or bicycle or walk to tourists sights. We arrived in the morning by eurostar and could directly leave our bags in our room, for our departure we could also come back during the day to pick up our bags at any time, very helpful!
The other plus is the wonderful breakfast every morning, hmmm delicious muesli, fruits, yorgurt, juice and a lot of other choices! We could help ourselves in the kitchen at any time, there was a guest refrigerator full of wonderful organic food. It was like at home. We could come in and out the house whenever we wanted, we never had the impression to disturb. We had a wonderful stay and learned a bit about Phillida's experience in New Zeland.
The room was clean and confortable, very calm and safe neighbourhood at night. Just note that you share the bathroom, but it was never a problem for us.
I stayed 5~6 days in her house. She was very kind woman. The location is very good and I come to her home late everyday because of musical, but It's OK everyday. She give us very delicious breakfast and tell me much information to me. And the room and bathroom was also very wide. Ofcouse full wi-fi.
I was so thanksful to her and her husband.
I strongly recommend her house!!!
Thanks you so much!!!

We are a relaxed family of two older professionals with four adult children, one of whom is resident with us here in London. The others are spread around the globe from NYC to the antipodes. We have lived on four continents but now enjoy a settled life here in the heart of London surrounded by our books and friends. We enjoy everything about London. John walks everyday to work in Whitehall, while Phillida walks to our local market to stock up on our local goodies.
