Spend the night in a Mongolian yurt. Nice fresh Mongolian breakfast always included. Optional Mongolian dinner!

It is our passion to share Mongolian culture. Saran, the host, was born and raised in a yurt in Mongolia! Rowan is married to Saran and has been making music from Mongolia for 15+ years. We look forward to welcoming you to our spot. We also organize workshops, such as cooking workshop (learn to make traditional Mongolian dishes)!

Also take a look at our website with: altaiyurt.nl

The space
Incl: Mongolian breakfast with a modern touch. Own garden. Spacious heated bathroom + towels. Clean and comfortable bed. Enough wood for wood stove. Kitchen, utensils, herbs, coffee & tea (in season also fresh tea from the garden such as mint, lemon balm, cola herb). Optional additional booking: Mongolian dinner (various dishes, € 15.50 p.p.), Workshop Mongolian cuisine (Learn to make a Mongolian dish, € 30 p.p.), etc.

The yurt as a place to stay and even an alternative home is a real hype in these times. But our connection to this traditional nomad home goes beyond the "hype". Our connection with Mongolian culture, traditions and our family in Mongolia is one of the main reasons that we would like to share this with you.

The yurt is in our backyard. We live on the edge of the village of Breezand in North Holland. There is another yurt in the front yard, but it is used as an office space.

The yurt is actually a small one-room house. Which means that all daily activities take place in 1 communal space; sleeping, cooking, eating and everything around it!

There is a small kitchen with an electric hob. Cookware and utensils are available, as well as basic spices, oil, etc. There is a kettle + coffee maker (beans).

There is a sitting area with dining table (high chair available), and two other sitting "corners", including next to a whiskey cabinet, where you are free to drink some whiskey; Nice if you leave something in the piggy bank in the cupboard, that's how we keep the cupboard filled :)

Of course there is always fresh bed linen on arrival. There is a double bed (separate blankets), a sofa bed and a pull-out bed (which can be used as an ottoman to sit during the day). There is also a baby cot available if required.

And of course the wood-burning stove is central to the yurt, the heat source. For cold nights we always have extra blankets and possibly an electric heater.

The sanitary area is approximately 25 meters from the yurt and is heated. There are two toilets, a shower, two sinks (hot and cold water) and a washing machine.

Breakfast is included with every overnight stay, but we will ask you the night before if you want breakfast or if you want to arrange it yourself. Our breakfast is a nice combination of traditional Mongolian with a modern twist. Breakfast consists of "Boortsog" (freshly baked yoghurt biscuits), "Gambir" (freshly baked slightly sweet flatbread), 2 types of jam, cream and yoghurt with fruit.

We also offer fun activities in and around the yurt, such as cooking workshops (traditional Mongolian dishes). More information on our website; altaiyurt.nl

Where you’ll be

Breezand, Noord-Holland, Netherlands

In the vicinity you can walk and cycle to your heart's content. Among other things, beautiful beaches and dunes at about 15 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bike.

There are several beautiful areas for walking and cycling. From our yurt, a round to the beach of Julianadorp and through the dunes is definitely recommended. Along the way you will pass many flower fields (in the spring season). Also worth mentioning for walking (or cycling); Dark Dunes in Den Helder, Mariëndal in Den Helder, Schoorlse Duinen, Kruiszwin nature reserve in Anna Paulowna, Botgat in Groote Keeten and, for example, the Huisduinerpolder.
