Soak in the Blue Ridge mountain views, swim in the pool (May-Oct), explore the Roach River, play indoor/outdoor games, watch movies, or just relax in one of the many sitting areas or porches/verandas. We are located 6 miles from the Blue Ridge School, within 10 miles of 7 wineries/breweries, 11 miles from the CHO airport, 15 miles from the SNP entrance, and 20-30 minutes from multiple historic areas.

The space
The Historic Cox House is in the South Wing of the Manor and has a private entrance, dining room, and parlor area with views of the garden and plenty of space to relax. There are three private sleeping areas with two full bathrooms with shower/tub combos. The living room with TV/Blu-ray/DVD player has a king bed. The other two sleeping areas are equipped with 2 twin beds and a queen bed with sitting area. Each sleeping area has an in-room thermostat and racks/pegs or dressers to hang/store clothing. We have WiFi in all rooms but note it is a satellite connection and may not be suitable for online meetings but works great for streaming content. We provide a selection of movies for your in-room entertainment or a few games to play. Experience what it was like to live here in the 1800s enjoy all the beauty of the property and the Blue Ridge mountains.

This Manor boasts a unique architectural style that creates a warm and open atmosphere in the newer wing with high ceilings, plenty of natural light and a mix of antiques, modern décor, and comfortable furniture that connects well with the 250-year old original house wing.

Enjoy a continental breakfast in the lobby and use the kitchenette area for simple meal prep or dish use. The common kitchenette is equipped with a microwave, ice machine, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, commercial refrigerator, dishwasher, water dispenser (cold & hot), dishes, drinkware, snacks, and breakfast items. We provide coffee, tea, milk/1/2&1/2/alternative milk, honey/sugar/sweetener, bagels, wheat bread, pastry options, instant oatmeal, breakfast bar choices, yogurt options, cheese sticks, peanut butter, cream cheese, butter, juice options, microwave popcorn, and trail mix. For allergies or special requests please contact the host. Grilling area may be used during your stay – contact the host for details.

Enjoy the indoor amenities with the books/magazines, chess/checker table, games, fireplaces, and multiple seating or dining options in the Great Room. Reserve the private movie theater, wine cellar, billiards room, or air hockey activity room during your stay. Enjoy the outdoor gaming areas by the barn with shuffleboard, bocce, horseshoes, and croquet or the cornhole/bean bag area in the rock garden. Complimentary WiFi and land line phone available for unlimited local & long distance calling in the common area.

The history of the property starts circa 1770 when William Cox and his family constructed the first house on the property and was a part of the original land owned by Samuel Estes (which was the original formation of Orange County in the 1700s before becoming a part of Greene County). Enjoy exploring the 28+ acres including a short hike through the woods and along the Roach River. Or relax on one of the many porches and verandas for a meal, reading, or soaking in the views. Sit by the firepit in the evenings and make s’mores or enjoy gazing on the stars. A map of the grounds is provided in the breakfast lobby.
