General Descriptions:
This Andersonville apartment is located about 5 miles North of Downtown Chicago. This neighborhood was first established by the Swedish immigrants and now is a beautiful and diverse community. Many residents in Andersonville are professionals working mostly in Downtown or the suburbs.

Within walking distance, you can find a wonderful variety of supermarkets, drug stores, restaurants, bars, banks, gift shops, parks, markets and health -wellness facilities. Little Asia is only 3 blocks away. Swedish Museum is 4 blocks away. Lakefront is less than 1 mile East. If you are relocating to Chicago, this would be a great way to really live and learn Chicago. Because this is a real neighborhood for real Chicago people, you will find much better prices around here than Downtown or other tourist hot spots.

The building is a typical older Chicago style brick structure with two units and recently upgraded with newer copper waterlines and energy efficient windows. The available unit is on the 1st floor. There are windows in every room. Stove, Microwave, Full size Refrigerator, Washer Dryer, are all included in the price. No hidden fees.

We have one Queen Size bed and three twin size bed. Fresh and Clean linens, towels, and pillows covers are provided for each new guest. You can use the free washer/dryer to clean them as necessary. A 1-litre laundry detergent is included. To keep the price affordable, house keeping is not provided during your stay, but can be arranged upon request.

Q: How many nights is the min stay?
A: Three nights, Unless you see slots where "3 nights" is not an option. We like reservation with a 3-night minimum. But if you see spots on our calender with 3 nights or less, please ask and we may make it available.

Q: Is this a good area?
A: I would say "YES" .

Q: Is smoking OK?
A: NO. Please don't.

Q: Do I live in the same building?
A: No. But I am always on call for my guests. We truly appreciate your business!

Q: What type of building is this?
A: It is a 100+ years old brick 2-Flat. It is just like pretty much all of the buildings around here. But our building have a few newer upgrades: Energy Efficient Windows, Larger Copper Pipes [Strong Water Flow], Electrical Circuit Breaker Boxes, 3-Prong Outlets, Central Heating System, Four newer air conditioners..etc

Q: Do you provide breakfast?
A: No. But we provide our guests with some free beverages and cookies.

Q: Do you allow pets?
A: I would prefer not to. There would be a $35 one-time pet fee. Additional cleaning and sanitizing are needed as some guests may be allergic to pets odors.

Q: Where is the nearest supermarket?
A: There are a few: Jewel/Osco is about 0.8 mile North on Clark Street. Walgreen is also 0.7 mile North on Clark Street. A small convenient store is about 1/2 block West on Clark Street. CVS is about 1/2 mile East on Broadway. There are several Asian Supermarket on Argyle Street and Broadway which is about 1/2 mile East.

Q: What kind of restaurants are near the condo and their pricing?
A: It has many: From 99 cents McDoubles to $99 live lobsters and they are all within walking distance too. Some are open until midnight or 24 hours as well. You can always find something even if your flight is delayed.

Q: I am planning an extended stay in Chicago. Any program for kids?
A: There are a number of neighborhood non-profit organizations that offer many classes or interest groups for children of all ages. Just ask me for specifics.

Q: What about Gym and Swimming Pool?
A: Chicago Park District offers Gym and Swimming Pools in nearby parks for free or little cost. Please research them online.

Q: Where can I rent a bike?
A: There are several bike shops in the area and you can research them online. Chicago is one of the most bike-friendly city in America. You can bike all the way to Downtown thru the beautiful lakefront trails.

Q: Where is the nearest library?
A: There is a Chicago Public Library located about 5 minutes walking East from the Condo. There is free wifi as well.

Q: Any golf course nearby?
A: There is a golf course by the lakefront about 1.5 miles South operated by the Chicago Park District. It opens year-round and offers very good pricing.

  • Please read the other reviews. Everything you need to know is already there. But just in case.

    I came to town with several colleagues for a conference. The short 20-30 minutes drive from the house to McCormick place saved us a bundle on over-priced hotel fees.

    Yes, it is an older house. It has not been fully renovated. It is however in a great neighborhood. We felt completely safe going out at night and walking to the nearby "Little Saigon" for some incredible Vietnamese food. The beds are somewhat creaky, but they had clean sheets and fresh linens. It is only a 40 gallon hot water heater. So if you're traveling with a group (as I did) you'll need to make sure you split up showers.

    There is some definite wear in the unit, but that's to be expected. And it's true, the basement is a little dark and dingy. But he's right, that's perfectly normal for these older houses.

    Andy was great about communicating, checking to make sure we had everything we needed, and making sure we arrived alright. If/when I return to Chicago, I would gladly rent from him again.

  • The location, amenities and service were all outstanding. It was so nice to stay in a place with all the comforts of home in a nice neighborhood that has everything within walking distance (great restaurants, bars, shops, groceries) and right off the Argyle stop on the Red Line. Andy lists everything accurately in his description and is extremely helpful and responsive. There is plenty of room and we felt right at home immediately. This will be our new getaway spot when visiting friends in Chicago. Thanks again!

  • Andy's is a nice independent space that is located close to the downtown area of chicago. It is also pretty close to transportation systems as well as restaurants, grocery stores etc., It has also got space for car parking too!

    Andy's communication was always at the highest level, he stayed connected one day before our arrival and gave us all the necessary directions for check in. He went the extra mile to get snacks and water organized for us during the stay. He also installed a new, faster wireless system that was very good. The apartment pretty much reflected those in pictures. Andy was also flexible in our check out times, as we had late evening flight.

    We had used Andy's for our business stay/visit...It served the purpose on that front too!

  • The location is fantastic and having a parking spot is an added benefit. You can easily walk to numerous restaurants, shops, stores, whatever your heart desires. We had two adults and two kids and the space fit us all comfortably. Andy was kind enough to stock the kitchen with sodas, water, and some goodies for us. We had everything we needed and more.

    Some things to know about the space. It is older so don't expect brand new appliances, giant tv, or fancy furntiture, linens, etc. I would consider this place a cabin in the city. It has everything you need and everything is in working order but not shiny and new. It was perfect for our needs.

  • Overall our stay at Andy's condo was great!! He was very helpful and accomadating especially when we had to extend our stay due to bad weather back east. THERE WAS A PROBLEM with the hot water in the shower and Andy fixed it right away. The area was great, close to the red line and restaurants and shopping. I would recommend Andy's place to anyone who wants and an economical place to stay while in Chicago.

  • Andy is a very attentive host. He responded quickly to questions we had and changes to the reservation.

    The house is a bit old and worn, but all the amenities that we used were in fine working order (e.g., fresh towels, good shower pressure, WiFi, A/C, etc.). The place is within easy walking distance to both the train, and to some great bars and restaurants in Andersonville.

  • Andy was very responsive and accommodating. His place is 2 blocks from the "downtown" of Andersonville which was a nice feature. The kitchen was pleasant with the necessary amenities and a window looking out to the neighbor's pretty garden and the queen bed was very comfortable. For my taste, the rest of the place was a bit gloomy with not enough light nor anything pleasing to the eye. All of the floors were in need of a thorough scrubbing but I called this to Andy's attention and I'm sure this won't be the case for the next guests. This an ideal place for young responsible adults who can split the cost of the reasonable rental fee.

    Thanks for the constructive comments. The hardwood floor can use another coat of sanding and vanishing. The design is a bit old and I will consider Ann's recommendation to add more decorative lighting features.

I am relatively new to Airbnb but like this traveling model because I believe it is a win win for both the travelers and homeowners. When we travel with large family like ours, we need to rent at least two or even three rooms. Sometimes the rooms are on different floors, without kitchen, dry-cleaning fees...etc. We are just regular people and hope to make a little extra income by offering our home to you at below-market pricing so you get a much better return on your travel dollars. Our place is not upscale or fancy but offers reasonable lodging needs plus more privacy than a regular hotel experience. It provides a unique way to feel and explore Chicago. A kitchen is very important consideration, especially if you have small kids or just want to save on restaurant bills. Eating out 3 or 4 times each day can get a little expensive quickly. We are still learning about the bnb practice so any constructive comments and suggestions are welcomed and you are encouraged to write a review after your stay. Thanks for considering us.
