Is the area safe?- The neighborhood Dutch Kills is very safe, only 2 blocks from the N and Q subway station 2 stops from Lexington Ave in midtown Manhattan.
Is there any Parking?- There is plenty of street overnight parking, you can choose a meter right in front of the apartment where you pay $.25 per 15 min between Mon-Sat 9am-7pm or half a block away you can find free 24/7 parking with street cleaning rules on thursday and friday between 8.30-10am. I will add that it is quite hard to find any parking during a weekday business hours due to the fact that many commuters park in the area since its so close to Manhattan. There is also a parking garage right across the street where you can park for $10 per day or $20 per 24 hour period.
Do you accept credit cards?- Airbnb takes care of the whole reservation process and they accept all mayor credit cards.
How do we get there from JFK Airport?- Its very easy to get here from JFK, just take the airtrain to the Jamaica station Switch to the E train and take that to Queens plaza stop and walk 3 blocks north following 29th Street to the corner of 39th ave where the apartment is.
Is there an elevator in the building? Im so sorry there is no elevator. The apartment is on the second floor one flight up.
How many bedrooms is there in the apartment? There are 3 large bedrooms. There are a total of 4 double beds, 1 bed-sofa and then a regular sofa in the living-room. A cot and crib/playpen is also available for extra comfort. There should be plenty of space for your whole group/family.
Will there be any noise from the downstairs Restaurant/Bar? Dutch Kills Centraal opened Sept. 2013 and we have not had any complaints yet. They are only open till midnight on weekdays and 12.30am on weekends so you don't have to worry about any late night sounds,
How is the area around the apartment? This area is called Dutch Kills and its a a small neighborhood right in between Astoria and Long Island City to very popular destinations for cafe's and restaurants. We have 3 very famous galleries with in a walking distance. Fisher Landau Center for Art, Flux Factory and PS1 which is part of the Modern Museum of Art (MoMa) Since this area is so close to Queensboro Bridge the main transportation hubb of Queens this has traditionally been a place for back businesses supplying Manhattan with bread, truffles, silk, etc but over the last 10 years artists have taken over these warehouse spaces and made them into work/live loft studios. Its a very interesting area and I think you will be very pleased. Best wishes, Steffan Olausson Partridge
Interaction with Guests
We are very easy going and we leave the interaction up to you. We like to make ourselves available but we have found that most New York visitors have very specific interests and reasons for coming to the greatest city in the world and we want to give you the freedom to explore and make this city your own.
No smoking inside.
Pets are considered on a case by case basis.
Appreciate taking off street shoes inside.
Copy Of ID (Passport or Drivers License) upon arrival.
Any stay 5 days or under can only be booked 2 weeks before arrival date.
We would like to leave as little of an impact on the environment so we appreciate if you observe NYC recycling rules, save water and conserve energy to the best of your ability. Garbage can be left right next to the building inside the gate with the code 5913
Make yourself at home and be comfortable
Overall our visit was very pleasant. Steffan checked up on us after we checked in. Prior to check in, Steffan turned on the fireplace and heaters so we could come into a warm house. The place is spacious for NYC. The place is just two blocks from the train . Downstairs is a bar but that was never an issue. No heavy noises that bothered us. There's a deli/market right across the street which was convenient as well. Definitely would stay here again for our next trip.
We had a wonderful stay at Steffan's place! It was absolutely perfect for our small work retreat of a half dozen people, with a large, spacious living room, bathroom, bedrooms, and everything we could have asked for. Stefan was so accommodating and quick with communications, even going so far as to meet up with my coworker to personally let him in and give him a tour if the property when my flight was delayed getting into New York. I would highly recommend this host and would gladly return to this apartment the next time I have a group staying in the city!
We have just returned from two weeks at this apartment over Christmas and New Year. There were 6 of us staying, 1 teenager and 5 adults.
The apartment was excellent, just 2 mins from the metro into central Manhattan. All 6 slept comfortably, the apartment is spacious and well equipped. The washing machine was broken, but Steffan organised for us to use one in a property just around the corner.
Steffan was very helpful, even accommodating my son who arrived early.
Below the apartment is a lovely bar that did fantastic food at a reasonable price, and very handy for a few drinks two steps from the front door!
This really did feel like a home from home whilst we were there.
We'd recommend this for a similar size group, any more may become a problem because there is only one bathroom. We would definitely use the apartment again if we stayed with our family or friends.
Unfortunately unlike all other reviews we had a poor experience of hosting with Steffan away and his deputy not around to meet us. The apartment is in a great spot but there was left over food and drink in the fridge and no explanation of the aircon heating system so we were very cold for most of the week.
This property would be greatly improved by a simple folder of information if Steffan is not going to be around.
The place was great! Very well kept, with all the furnishings you could want. We stayed with 9 people and had no problems with sleeping arrangements. The one bathroom was limiting, but not a huge problem. It is a block away from the subway, so going into Manhattan was very easy. Would recommend to any one.

I was born on the Island of Cyprus in the same bed as my mother was born but it was too hot for my Swedish Dad so we moved to his home land when I was 6 months old. They bought a small farm in the northern woods of Wermland and from very simple ingredients they made five more kids at home but life in organic paradise ended when I was 12 when my Mom missed her big Greek-Cypriot family in Astoria NY and took all 6 of us to the Big Apple. So life has shaped me into a innocent street smart romantic that believed in the inherent good of all people. I still have the house in Wermland and Im in the process of building a house in Bahia, Brazil with my wife Cristina. We have 4 boys between 13 and 6 and my big girl just turned 25. I adore my little Dutch Kills community where I have partnered up with the neighbors to open a day spa, art gallery, gastropub, and a community garden. We reward ourselves with travel and opening up our home to other adventurous explorers around this fabulous world.
Warm Welcomes, Steffan Olausson Partridge
