About this listing
Front door leading from front porch. Front porch is a great place to hang out under our 200 year old White Oak Tree.
Brand new three bedroom house lovingly created from a 1909 vintage Craftsman bungalow. My home has many special details that I carefully designed into the house to recreate the craftsman style. The two guest bedrooms/1 bath upstairs is spacious and provides great privacy from the rest of the house's living space. I am retired and moved to Portland from Alaska where I operated a successful Bed and Breakfast for many years. My home is two blocks west of 13th Avenue, an area that boasts several restaurants, specialty shops, a public library, and a New Seasons grocery store. The Springwater bike corridor is three blocks away and a Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge four blocks walk. Convenient bus service to all parts of the city is another three blocks away.
Please let me know in advance if you need more than one bed as the second bedroom is set up as a sitting room, but can easily be converted to a second bedroom/bed.
I love having guests in my house! You are welcome to share my living space, including my kitchen.
My son and I had a lovely stay at Jim's beautiful home in a wonderful neighborhood. We had a very clean room and bathroom for our private use. Jim was very accommodating, easy going and made us feel very welcome. His house, in the Sellwood area of Portland, is about a 15 minute drive from downtown. We also took the bus which was easy and fun. The neighbors were also very friendly as we explored the neighborhood. I would definitely recommend staying at Jim's :)
This is a great place to stay in the Selwood neighborhood in Portland...second good experience we have had in this neighborhood. Location was close to restaurants, food shopping and our medical appts. Jim is a great host and has a lovely space.
Jim was a wonderful host, and his beautiful home is located within easy walking distance of a number of great shops and restaurants. It is also a great central location for reaching various areas of Portland by car. Safe, very clean, quiet, and tranquil. Jim is a great resource for local information and offered his kitchen for use. We would highly recommend this host!
Jim is the perfect host, in the perfect house, in the perfect neighborhood. Totally awesome in every way. Thank you, Jim!!! I hope to make it back your way soon to raid the late summer garden goodness. Niiiiiice!
Sellwood-Near Parks is a lovely, historic neighborhood near the Willamette river. Jim is a very friendly host who was at home to welcome us and tell us about the area and his home, a re-build of an older style. Jim's house is lovely, clean and comfortable. The guest rooms are excellent: a comfortable bed, plenty of closet space, and large sitting room with TV if you like.
Jim was extremely welcoming. The house was extremely nice, newly remodeled and clean. I loved his dog, and the neighborhood was really neat. Almost like a little town within Portland...nice to get away from some of the hustle n' bustle. Really appreciate him opening his doors to us.
Jim is a very helpful yet unintrusive host and his experience in the b&b industry definitely shows. The house is attractive with a nice kitchen and patio area and the bedroom is airy and a good size.
The Sellwood neighbourhood is very pleasant, a short walk will take you to the river beach or to a tea shop housed in an old caboose. Not too far from downtown Portland either.
All in all a very positive experience.
About the Host, Jim

I moved to Portland six years ago and now call this home. I have many interests that tend to take advantage of the beautiful state I live in, including skiing, hiking, biking, and camping.
