Brand new three bedroom house lovingly created from a 1909 vintage Craftsman bungalow. My home has many special details that I carefully designed into the house to recreate the craftsman style. The two guest bedrooms/1 bath upstairs is spacious and provides great privacy from the rest of the house's living space. I am retired and moved to Portland from Alaska where I operated a successful Bed and Breakfast for many years. My home is two blocks west of 13th Avenue, an area that boasts several restaurants, specialty shops, a public library, and a New Seasons grocery store. The Springwater bike corridor is three blocks away and a Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge four blocks walk. Convenient bus service to all parts of the city is another three blocks away.
Please let me know in advance if you need more than one bed as the second bedroom is set up as a sitting room, but can easily be converted to a second bedroom/bed.
I had a great stay with Jim! He was very accomodating and friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I enjoyed chatting with him but the space has lots of privacy too if that's what you prefer, he lets you do your own thing. I definitely hope to stay with Jim again some day!
Jim was great at accommodating us on such short notice and on our late arrival. He takes a lot of pride in his home and it really shows, very nicely renovated. His home is located in a very quiet neighborhood, 2 blocks to cool shops and breakfast. Only drawback was the proximately to downtown, might be a little tricky if you don't have a car. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here.
My husband and I stayed at Jim's house over Thanksgiving. Jim is a great host and has wonderful dog. The accommodations are truly comfortable and beautiful. The bedroom and a sitting room was upstairs for our use. The sitting room can be converted into an additional bedroom. We liked the quiet neighborhood, the stores and restaurants and the park just a few blocks away.
This was our first airbnb experience and it exceeded all our expectations. Jim was there to greet up even though our arrival was delayed because our plane was late. The house was lovely and our accommodations were clean and comfortable. The location was very convenient--an easy walk to local shops and restaurants and less than a mile from our daughter's home. I would definitely return for future visits to Portland.
We had a great stay in Portland at Jim's place. The house was beautiful, comfortable, and in a convenient location and Jim was a very friendly host. We highly recommend Jim Nolke.
My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at Jim's place. Jim is a very pleasant host providing coffee in the morning and permitting kitchen privileges. His house is clean and guests have the entire second floor (bedroom, sitting room with TV and bath) to themselves. Additionally, his house is conveniently situated close to a park and commercial area with restaurants and coffee houses.
This was our second stay at Jim's lovely house in a beautiful neighborhood of tree-lined streets, down the block from a large park and very close to a huge wildlife sanctuary. We love taking Jim's angelic dog for walks! We had the whole upstairs: bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. Jim is an impeccable housekeeper. We highly recommend Jim who is kind, helpful--a delightful person--and his very pleasant lodging in a perfect neighborhood.
I did meet Jim, after his very kind and helpful friends played host during my pleasant stay at his place. Jim is full of life, an intelligent, caring and friendly person, who has taken delight in making his home a fresh, clean, tastefully appointed, and welcoming place, in a peaceful, uplifted, treelined, safe feeling neighborhood. Naya is a lovely, gentle dog who is happy to go on walks with you. Cafes, restaurants, shops, library, park, bus, bike trails, as per the description, are all conveniently within a few blocks. The bedroom suite I stayed in is spacious, with closet, chest of drawers, and an extremely comfortable bed. It is quiet at night. There is a private bathroom, and an adjacent sitting room with HDTV. The furnishings are on the new and modern side, and the spaces are neat and uncluttered. The loving portrait of Jim's grandaughter in the kitchen encapsulates the kind intentionality imbued in this home. I can recommend Jim's place wholeheartedly.
Jim's home is absolutely beautiful. It is modern and light and makes you feel relaxed and welcomed the moment you walk in the front door. It is located in a quiet, safe and very convenient neighborhood with many affordable restaurants and nice shops.
Our bedroom suite on the second floor was so comfortable and cozy and very private and quiet as well.
Jim was friendly and a great host. Easy to communicate with and he suggested a few places for us to visit in and around Portland. And Naya is possibly the sweetest dog ever. We enjoyed our stay so much and highly recommend it for anyone visiting Portland. Thank you, Jim!
A nice quiet spot in an interesting SE Portland neighborhood with an easy walk to breakfast at nearby bakery. The house has been recently rebuilt and the rooms are very clean. Quite lovely--we hope to return.
