Review: Avenida Nueva Leon 105, apt 137, Santiago, Chile – Month of April, 2015 It's hard to describe how filthy the apartment was when we arrived April 1 for our month long stay. The massive deferred maintenance was a close second. And the poorly furnished and poorly equipped apartment used the cheapest, oldest, most dilapidated stuff. Garbage under the sink along with over a dozen empty beer, wine and soda bottles. No toilet paper; no wi-fi; no instructions for garbage, television & radio stations. We contacted the owner on April 1 and did not receive a response until April 6. It wasn't until April 10 that the became vaguely habitable after three cleanings and moderate maintenance. Misrepresentation of apartment Pictures on website are very old and do not represent the state of the apartment today. There is no deck. Previous deck was enclosed to become an 'office' although it lacks electricity. Contrary to pictures, the second small bedroom now has 2 massive twin beds stacked on top of each other, completely filling the room. A small bedside table was taken from the master bedroom and provides the only additional furniture. Former kitchen door is stored in the room. Wi-fi network name and password had been changed without updating the info provided by owner. Filth and poor maintenance All the windows were so filthy that you couldn't see through them. Problematic under any circumstances but especially difficult because these are the apartment's finest feature. Black tar, from pollution build up over time, covered the white tile in the bathrooms and kitchen, especially bad on the floor and in the corners. Massive double door venetian blind apparently had never been wiped clean. In addition all the pull cords were broken so it could not be raised, preventing access to living room. Outside planters along bedrooms and 'office' filled with cigarette butts. Kitchen drawer front broken off preventing access to all drawers. Only 1 drinking glass was provided, and most plates were chipped; we bought 6 glasses & 2 mugs. Kitchen sink leaching metal when wiped down. Refrigerator freezer door falls off; freezer is a tiny 2” cave surrounded by 18 inches of frost. All faucets are badly corroded and difficult to turn on and off. Living room side table broken at a 45 degree slant, limiting reading ability. Two of six chairs in dining room broken and unusable. Sony speakers in living room not connected to anything (no sound system). Vinyl wall coverings are gray-black with dirt and peeling off in sheets from walls and window casings; no base boards at floor nor quarter rounds at ceiling, all gathering pollution dust. The bottom line The building itself is in a great location, with lovely views, beautifully managed, great laundry facilities, super helpful and friendly staff. Even when cleaned up, this apartment is difficult to live in because apparently no one ever has. Things just don't work. We requested and received a 30% refund from the owner as partial compensation for our time...
The check in process was very convenient. Patrick left the keys with the concierge for us as we weren't sure at what time we'd get in from the airport. We never met Patrick but he was very prompt in answering questions and getting some problems with the wifi solved.
The location is very convenient to public transportation and shopping. Two smallish supermarkets within 3 blocks and a big mall about 4 blocks away with a giant supermarket. There are many restaurants just steps from the apartment which is very convenient but the noise at night could be an issue for some people. It wasn't for us. The second bedroon is tiny and it has a bunk bed. The shower in the second bathroom is minute but it was a big plus to have that extra bathroom.
The apartment is old and could use a serious renovation and thorough cleaning. The kitchen is tiny and not very well equipped, but we didnt intend to cook much while there.
We had a very very wonderful visit and enjoyed very much meeting with Patrick. The apartment was wonderful and in a very good location. It was on the 13th floor and so away from the street noise. The restaurant at the bottom was the best that we experienced during our entire trip in Chile. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding. Considering that getting a meal that is not bad could be a challenge in Chile, the restaurant was one of the best we have ever had. Once we discovered it we did not go any place else.
Recomendado!
Great location. There was an issue with WIFI not working but Patrick was really helpful and left us phone. Nothing was too much trouble. Great having 24 hour security as well. Nice views out of the windows and lovely park nearby. Grocery store and metro all close. The unit is fairly old and maybe the floor could be a bit cleaner but that may of been dust from the air.
Un barrio excelente, Patrick nos ayudó a hacer las cosas muy eficientes dejándonos las llaves con el concierge y contestando nuestras llamadas. El departamento está en buenas condiciones y es muy muy amplio, nos agrado en muchos sentidos.
