  • Gordon was very helpful and is used to running a tight ship. Do book upstairs if you would like some daylight as the rooms downstairs are very comfortable but have no windows. Fort Green is a fabulous location and we had a wonderful stay. Gordon was really flexible around our timings and helped us when it was needed.

  • I had a great stay at Gordon's. He is a kind host in a wonderful house in a splendid neighbourhood. When booking then notice that you can either book a downstairs room - no windows, which is great if you are just using your room for sleeping. The bed is great and it'd dark and cool. If you prefer daylight, pick the room on ground floor. Both have very nice bathrooms. Gordon is used to having a lot of visitors and ask him for suggestions of where to eat (he knows a lot of good places) or where to listen to music or enjoy art of any kind.

  • Remarkable place. Eclectic and unusual, yet beautiful and artistically-unique. We enjoyed our stay. Gordon was a sweet host! Good location for anyone to enjoy the heart of Brooklyn and head into Manhattan.

  • I spent 6 nights in NYC recently and stayed with Gordon. He's a fantastic host, and from the outset ensured I had all the information I needed, including how to get in from the airport - important for a first-time NYC'er. He even text'ed me to check I hadn't got lost when I was a bit later arriving than I'd estimated.

I had the basement room, so there was no natural light. Wasn't too much of a problem as I had work to do but if you do hanker for a window then inquire (early!) about the upstairs room.

The shower was fabulous, and with it being well below freezing all week I will confess to enjoying long hot showers on returning from the city.

The bed was a little firm for my liking. But then I'm accustomed to a soft bed so it could be fine for most people.

I was my first AirBnB stay, so I was a little unsure of how much of the house I could use, ie what is the 'norm'. The upstairs lounge/kitchen shown in the photos is gorgeous. Just check in with Gordon about when it's ok to use these.

Overall a good stay and I'd happily return then next time work takes me to the Big Apple.

    Response from Gordon:

The upstairs room is a bit more expensive, fyi. This room is great value for the cost, and 99 percent of the guests sleep in heavenly and well-needed peace after long days of shopping, wining and dining in the busy city. Book and fear not.

  • Gordon's home is absolutely lovely! The loft is private and comfy. The bathroom is really cool and definitely the best shower I've ever had! Gordon was lovely, but unfortunately due to my short stay I barely got to speak with him. The neighboorhood is safe and lovely, Brooklyn was definitely worth staying in!

  • I Loved Gordon's house - a very comfortable room, albeit the weather is cold in NYC right now so the room heater is critical. Excellent / Fun bathroom and shower, built into the stone foundation of the building. Highly recommend for folks who like to sleep late, since the basement setting keeps the light out in a serious way. But you will sleep well, I promise. Gordon is a cool guy and very accommodating, brought fresh towels mid-way through my stay. Excellent wireless connection as well. Best location - Ft Greene -eat at Walters and Not-Rays.

  • A great place in Brooklyn. Just 10 minutes walk from the 4 lines directly from Manhatten. Or by CitiBike (right in front of the home) to the subway (park your bike just around the corner) even quicker. My room was downstairs. That meant, no windows, a reasonable but not too nice double bed and central heating/cooling. No problem if you're only in your room at night, but could be disappointing. Bathroom is nice, like on the pictures.

But he does have a great kitchen. And grand piano. Exactly like on the pictures. Luckily I had a great conversation with another guest from Paris so that made my day in the kitchen :))

    Response from Gordon:

I've hosted hundreds of guests who've slept in heavenly peace--none of whom have ever complained about the bed. But, yes, subways are near and Ctibike is now on my block if you like to ride, and you'll have a shower to remember in this room indeed but the grand piano is unfortunately "off limits" to guests.
