Everything was very nice. Gordon was a gracious host.
I spent 6 nights in NYC recently and stayed with Gordon. He's a fantastic host, and from the outset ensured I had all the information I needed, including how to get in from the airport - important for a first-time NYC'er. He even text'ed me to check I hadn't got lost when I was a bit later arriving than I'd estimated.
I had the basement room, so there was no natural light. Wasn't too much of a problem as I had work to do but if you do hanker for a window then inquire (early!) about the upstairs room.
The shower was fabulous, and with it being well below freezing all week I will confess to enjoying long hot showers on returning from the city.
The bed was a little firm for my liking. But then I'm accustomed to a soft bed so it could be fine for most people.
I was my first AirBnB stay, so I was a little unsure of how much of the house I could use, ie what is the 'norm'. The upstairs lounge/kitchen shown in the photos is gorgeous. Just check in with Gordon about when it's ok to use these.
Overall a good stay and I'd happily return then next time work takes me to the Big Apple.
Gordon's home is absolutely lovely! The loft is private and comfy. The bathroom is really cool and definitely the best shower I've ever had! Gordon was lovely, but unfortunately due to my short stay I barely got to speak with him. The neighboorhood is safe and lovely, Brooklyn was definitely worth staying in!
I Loved Gordon's house - a very comfortable room, albeit the weather is cold in NYC right now so the room heater is critical. Excellent / Fun bathroom and shower, built into the stone foundation of the building. Highly recommend for folks who like to sleep late, since the basement setting keeps the light out in a serious way. But you will sleep well, I promise. Gordon is a cool guy and very accommodating, brought fresh towels mid-way through my stay. Excellent wireless connection as well. Best location - Ft Greene -eat at Walters and Not-Rays.
A great place in Brooklyn. Just 10 minutes walk from the 4 lines directly from Manhatten. Or by CitiBike (right in front of the home) to the subway (park your bike just around the corner) even quicker. My room was downstairs. That meant, no windows, a reasonable but not too nice double bed and central heating/cooling. No problem if you're only in your room at night, but could be disappointing. Bathroom is nice, like on the pictures.
But he does have a great kitchen. And grand piano. Exactly like on the pictures. Luckily I had a great conversation with another guest from Paris so that made my day in the kitchen :))
I've hosted hundreds of guests who've slept in heavenly peace--none of whom have ever complained about the bed. But, yes, subways are near and Ctibike is now on my block if you like to ride, and you'll have a shower to remember in this room indeed but the grand piano is unfortunately "off limits" to guests.
Gordon is an excellent host and his home is stunning. We stayed at his place for 11 nights and he was always available to give advice and local knowledge. We had our own bathroom (with an amazing shower) and large room with a bar fridge which proved handy. The home is well located: there is an excellent coffee shop (WTF Coffee) right around the corner, numerous pubs and bars all a short walk (Brooklyn Public House is great), organic grocer, and a launderette too if you need it. All in all, if you're after an authentic NY experience outside of Manhattan, I highly recommend Gordon's home. And, to top off a great stay, he left us with a sweet note and a couple of cupcakes on our departure!
Our stay with Gordon was fantastic. The bedroom was very comfortable, with everything one would need. The bathroom was clean and had a fantastic shower.
The area is very nice, lots of little restaurants, bistros and bars. Good subway access.
We would definitely stay with Gordon again. He is a lovely talented individual, with a beautiful home!
Thank you Gordon!
Excellent location, very comfortable accomodations. Would love to return in the future!
We had the most amazing time in New York and Gordon's home was truly fabulous. Gordon is a wonderful host, friendly informative and helpful and we would love to go back and stay there again. We did a bit of exploring including walking the Brooklyn Bridge and shopping and eating in the local bars and restaurants. The room is lovely and it is so easy to get about in New York from there. I would thoroughly recommend Gordon's place to everyone! Thanks Gordon! We also bought a couple of his CD's - don't miss out on the chance to get your hands on these either. Also as an FYI - best shower that we have seen/had in a long time!
Very comfortable house. Super cute and convenient neighborhood.
