Roselyne was a wonderful host. I really can't say enough about how amazing she is. We arrived very late because of horrible traffic on the roads but she was very sweet and told us to just drive safe and not worry. When we arrived she was extremely kind. Took time to explain everything in the house. She had filled up the fridge for us with milk and bread and a few other essentials. What more can you ask of a host? The house was incredibly clean and all pictures completely reflect what we found in the house. The neighborhood is nice and walking distance to the center of Nimes. We especially loved our walks to Les Jardins de la Fontain. One of the things I loved about Roselyne's house is the fact that it is very kid friendly. She has plastic plates and cups and also a room full of toys. Our kids loved playing with all the toys. There is no air conditioning in the house but honestly there is no need for it. Even on hot days there was a good breeze and at night the temperatures go down and the house cools down nicely. All in all we loved staying at this apartment in Nimes and Roselyne was a wonderful host :)
Roselyne was a very hospitable, helpful and friendly host, she picked us up from the station and showed us around her lovely flat. It was perfect accommodation for our group of two adults and two children, we all had plenty of space to relax. We made a lot of use of the balcony and the patio doors were open most of the time, so it was a lovely bright airy living area. The kitchen was very well equipped, we made a lot of our own meals. Unfortunately some of the crockery got chipped when my children washed the dishes, so I took over as chief dishwasher...
The location was ideal, we are both very busy with stressful jobs, so we didn't drive at all, we walked into the centre nearly every day and went swimming very other day at the Pablo Neruda centre. Our teenage daughters were very at home in the flat and ,made use of the internet provision and our youngest made lots of drawings of the many interesting ornaments in the flat. We soaked in all the beautiful surroundings, the gardens, the boulevards and enjoyed exploring the many narrow streets getting lost then found again! I saw one of the oldest sewing machines in the world in a shop where I only went to buy some thread. The record shop was a great find as well, we took home some records to add to our vinyl collection.
We went to the Pont du Gard, a World Heritage Site which was brilliant, there was a fantastic museum with one of the best exhibitions I've ever seen. We went on a day trip on the train to Le Grau du Roi, it was a very windy day, but we enjoyed the fishing port , watching the boats arrive followed by flocks of noisy seagulls, we had lunch by the sea of mussels and chips. We saw the Arctic Monkeys play at the Arena, what a spectacular night that was. We went to the various museums, a bit disappointed in the displays at the modern art gallery, but the building is stunning with fantastic views across to the Maison du Carre. The best view of all was from La Tour Magne, the day after the thunderstorm, well worth the climb up the narrow stairs.
A holiday to remember, one of our best. Thank you.
Very bright charming appartment to which we were kindly welcomed by Roselyne ( she even left bread coffee and a bottle of local rose). Just be certain to leave everything exactly as you found it.
We really enjoyed our stay at Roselyne's lovely apartment. She was kind enough to pick us up from the railway station and was a pleasure to correspond with. Nimes is beautiful with good transport services - we found Kennedy was the best bus stop for us going into town although it isn't too far too walk. Would love to come again one day.
