Sergio and Colleen were such wonderful and accommodating host. This was the first time we use AirBNB and my parents were hesitant but quickly loved the space. The studio is gorgeous, clean, and more than enough room for them. Without a doubt, if I need another place to stay in the Boston area, it would be Sergio and Colleens!
We had a wonderful stay at their place! The studio is great, Colleen and Sergio also provided many helpful things. Everything went smoothly and they were very helpful. We would definitely stay there again!
First the positives and my own background. This was my first experience with airbnb and so I can't compare it directly to other airbnb stays. That said:
Positives: The reservation process through airbnb was very easy and very, very well done. The hosts (Sergio and Colleen) were quite fast on their responses and easy to reach. In addition, and most importantly, their pictures and description of their space was exactly as they'd outlined. It was very clean, very spacious and very affordable. So, if you need kitchen, laundry and a good sized clean space at a good price, this is really well described and as advertised.
Cons: This part is really much more on me than reflective of airbnb or Sergio/Colleen. I had not sufficiently done my homework on how easy or not it would be to get from Revere into downtown Boston and what the surrounding area is like. In retrospect I should have balanced that out a bit more. What I had done was to use (website hidden)-maps to get an idea of the public transportation, and from that it had seemed fine. In reality the 1/2-hour times that I'd expected based on (website hidden) were way, way off. I found that generally it took more than an hour to get from Revere into my meeting site in South Boston. Sometimes, at least for me, it even became close to two hours, since the buses didn't run on time and didn't keep a consistent schedule. In addition, because I was on a schedule, I ended up having to take cabs twice and with the expense of two cab rides and the time lost in transit, I'm not so sure that the low price was quite as much of a bargain as I'd first thought. So, if you add in about $50/day for transportation (a cab ride each day plus the bus rides) and another factor for your time (at least two hours/day lost to transportation, so, maybe another $100/day), then its worth thinking hard about the tradeoffs due to the location. An additional factor is that there's not so many good restaurants or interesting things to see in this neighborhood, so if you're playing tourist, then planning on dinner in downtown Boston makes more sense. Lastly, I'd suggest arriving during the day, so that you can see more readily where the apartment is located. I missed the bus the first day out to Revere from South Boston, then was stubborn and waited too long before giving up on the next bus, and so arrived after dark, via cab, the first day into the two day stay.
Bottom line: This may work really well if you can be flexible on time and are on a budget. If you're in town for a meeting, as I was, then it might be better to pay more for a location near to the meeting and so avoid the time lost in transit between Revere and meeting site and the associated transportation costs.
We are so very sorry that you did not find the commuting time to be what you expected. In your first message to us you indicated that the location was what you were looking for, so we are sorry that did not turn out to be the case. Unfortunately, South Boston and Boston can be considered two different animals.
We are glad that you were pleased with the accommodations however!
Sergio and Colleen
Stayed at Sergio and Colleen's for a couple of nights to see a concert and a Red Sox game. No problem getting into Boston using transit. Apartment was very clean and had everything we needed. Great location as it was close to the airport and transit. Nice quiet neighborhood with stores and restaurants within walking distance. Great communication and Sergio was waiting to greet us. Would definitely stay again!
Even though our visit was brief, our stay at Sergio and Coleen's Studio was extremely pleasant. Sergio and Colleen were great hosts and made sure the studio had everything we could possibly need. The studio was spotless, comfortable, and was exactly as described. We will definitely be staying there again if we make another trip to Boston.
Your home warm and comfortable, the surrounding environment is also very quiet, which is very grateful to welcome you to Beijing
I could not be happier with my stay at this Revere studio. It is spacious and clean with all the amenities. Great neighbourhood with quick, easy access to downtown and the airport. Colleen and Sergio are wonderful hosts.
This was our second stay at Sergio & Colleen's studio in Revere for the (Boston) Marathon and once again, it was exactly as advertised and perfectly suitable. It was clean, well-located (used T from nearby Wonderland Station to downtown for packet pick up and Race Day). Washer-dryer especially helpful for post-marathon clean-up. Italian pasta, bakery shops nearby for carb loading! Colleen & Sergio have been very hospitable and although we'll may not be coming back for next year's marathon, we would certainly consider staying with them for any future visits to Boston.
We booked the studio for a last-minute weekend trip to Boston. Sergio and Colleen responded very quickly and arranged everything for our visit. The studio is perfect--spacious and comfortable (and very clean)! The kitchen is fully equipped and it was awesome to be able to come back after a day in the city and watch the Olympics and drink tea. Although the apartment is outside the city parking is provided and its a quick 10-15 minute drive to downtown. We really enjoyed our stay and when we visit Boston again we will definitely stay here!
I was in Boston for business and decided to try Airbnb for the first time, so I'm new and have nothing to compare to other than hotels and staying with friends.
This is a great studio apartment with all the amenities, contemporary, quiet, and very clean. Easy access to the airport, about 10 minutes with no traffic. WiFi is good. That's about all I used while I was there. They have a little kitchenette for those who want to cook, etc.
It had snowed quite a bit, with ice and snow piled on the sidewalks, so they had a parking space plowed and accessible for me to use, which eliminated any parking concerns.
There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but I drove due to the conditions of the sidewalks (probably not an issue most times of the year ... or most years!).
