Stay in a spacious, light-filled loft above The Edge Gallery and working artists’ studios in Downtown Wilson. This renovated 1,600-sf space combines original heart-pine floors and century-old character with contemporary design, original art, a marble embellished kitchen, and a European-style bathroom.
Walk to Whirligig Park, Wilson Warbirds baseball stadium, Wilson Arts, downtown restaurants, breweries, galleries, live music—or simply settle in to the Loft and enjoy art, books, sunset views.
The space
The Loft occupies the entire upper floor of The Edge, a restored 1924 mixed-use building in Historic Downtown Wilson. Below are an intimate contemporary art gallery and the working studios of artists Barb White and Sebastian Correa.
The open-plan loft feels expansive yet comfortable, with high ceilings, original heart-pine floors, skylights, and windows at both ends of the building. Natural light moves through the space throughout the day, with particularly beautiful sun and moon rises from the north windows, and sunset views from the south-facing windows.
The Loft includes:
• A king-size bed in the primary sleeping area
• A queen-size bed in a separate guest nook
• Privacy curtains and movable dividers between sleeping areas
• A spacious living area with multiple places to relax
• Two dining areas
• A reading area with books and original art
• A fully equipped galley kitchen
• A European-style bathroom with a soaking tub and rain shower
• A dedicated workspace
• A private entrance
• Exclusive use of washer and dryer
• Fast Wi-Fi
• Private parking
Although the expansive layout is open plan, the two sleeping areas are positioned at opposite ends of the Loft. Curtains and movable partitions provide visual privacy, making the space comfortable for a couple, close friends, or a small family. Guests should nevertheless be aware that these are not fully enclosed bedrooms.
The kitchen has marble counter tops, a gas range, dishwasher, quality cookware, glassware, dishes, and the essentials needed for preparing meals and drinks. Coffee and tea are provided. The spa-like bathroom features a soaking tub; a rain-head shower and soft towels.
Crisp white linens and comforters, as well as blankets, are the makings of a comfortable night's rest.
Throughout the loft, original features of the century-old building are paired with a combination of contemporary and classic furnishings, locally made pieces, collected objects, and original artwork.
The Loft is personal and thoughtfully designed rather than hotel-like—a place intended for both quiet retreat and creative inspiration, with the Downtown vibe just steps away.
