Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
A period, first floor flat, formerly Murdoch’s Inn, built more than 100 years ago. Recently completely renovated to create a cosy retreat tucked away behind Forres High Street. It is in a centrally placed but suprisingly quiet location opposite the historic Tolbooth Tower. There is ample free parking nearby. Forres has a traditional High Street with independent shops, post office, library, bank, ATM, pubs, cafes, butchers and a Coop so you can cook & dine in or eat out.

The space
The front door leads into a small internal porch area. There is a shoe rack for all footwear and wall-mounted coat pegs for coats and outdoor clothing. The internal porch leads to a lounge/kitchen. The lounge has a three seater sofa, a two seater sofa, two coffee tables and a TV with Freeview channels. There are two north-east facing windows with deep windowsills. Dividing the lounge from the kitchen is a large wooden breakfast bar complete with two bar stools. The kitchen is fully equiped including kettle, toaster, washing machine, gas hob and electric oven/grill, fridge freezer and a microwave oven.
The lounge kitchen leads to a rear hallway. Accessed from the hallway are the bathroom with toilet, sink and full-size bath with shower over which is fed by mains pressure hot water and the one excellent sized bedroom with a kingsize bed. Free wifi is included. Tea, coffee, sugar, oil, salt & pepper will be provided. Gas central heating is provided throughout the flat. Hot water is heated on demand by a combination boiler. Flexible check-in with lock box. Check out by 10am on the morning of departure and replace key in lock box.

Forres boasts a traditional High Street with cafes (don't miss the newly opened 1496 cafe on the corner opposite Tolbooth Street!), independent shops, butchers, Coop, post office, library, bank and cash points all available so you can purchase ingredients to cook in the flat or you can choose to eat out at the various pubs & cafes available. There is a Coop in the High Street within 2 minutes walk of the flat and there is a large Tesco store within 10 minute walk.
A short walk down from the flat brings you to the picturesque Mosset Burn, park and medieval mill pond. Keep a look out for the resident heron, ducks and occasional kingfisher! The Mosset Tavern pub and restaurant overlooks the pond and serves good food. Tolbooth Street, adjacent to the Tolbooth Tower, leads away from the High Street and onto the end of the road where you can cross over and head left to Grant Park - a Victorian gem of a network of woodland walks originally laid out when Forres was renowned for being a spa town circa 1870. The park also boasts an excellent home-made ice-cream kiosk and children's playground.
Public transport is readily available with several bus stops on the High Street, less than a minutes walk from the flat and Forres railway station is a 10 minute walk away with trains to Inverness and Aberdeen.

The beautiful village and sandy beaches and bay of Findhorn are just 4 miles away heading towards the coast. The renowned Logie Steading visitor centre, shops and Olive Tree Cafe are just 6 miles away heading inland towards Granton-on-Spey. Here you will also find a wonderful walk to Randolf's Leap along the edge of the Findhorn River amid dramatic scenery.
