Other Things to Note
If you’re planning to visit the Albanian Northern Alps, or maybe extending your journey over to Montenegro, Shkoder is an essential stop along the way. On request, we offer riding tours or we can show visitors the nearby mountains, rivers, lakes, sea, museums, castles and different historical places.
We also have an agreement with local taxi drivers offering you the best price available and they pick you up from the guesthouse and take you directly to your destination, at a time that suits you!
We can also arrange international transport for you to many places, including Montenegro (Podgorica, Budva, Kotor) and Kosovo (Pristina, Prizren). For example the cost from our guesthouse to Podgorica is five euros!
Unfortunately we were not as positive about our stay as many apparently are. Firt of all, we have paid more than double the price (we paid 39 euro for 1 night in a double room). Compared to our other accomodations in Albania, this was the most expensive, though the smallest room we rented and with less conditions than the other places we have stayed. The room was, as said, very small, it had a double bed and a single bed and not much more space than that. There was only a shared " bathroom", where we did not try the shower, as we did not have towels (I asked for it, Florian said he would bring them, but obviously forgot to bring them). The dinner we had was ok, but I could not eat the salad, as Florian forgot to tell his mother about my alergies (he did not really care about that, as it seems to me). My boyfriend felt not well and went early to our room, where he, unsuccesfully, tried the airconditioner. It did not work, and Florian seemed surprised about it, but later I read in a reference it did not work earlier. The sound insulation of he room was next to zero, so we could hear the people in the garden talk and drink. About the price, Florian kept saying he receives only 23 euro from airbnb and therefore I should have booked otherwise/ he should stop using this website. When I asked him next morning (he wanted me to pay for the dinner), why that day the same room on airbnb was only 17 euro, while we paid 39, he wanted to show me again the proof of what he receives. In the end we did not pay for the dinner. A few days later he contacted me by facebook to tell me I was right about the money. On arrival, he claimed to have sent us a taxi, but I doubt, as he did not know about our arrival time. Taxi was relative expensive. Also the minibus he arranged to go to Theth was more expensive than told, but might be the fault of the minibusdriver, who charged us summer rate in stead of September rate. As the guesthouse it very far from the center (just before the asphalt ends), he offers bicycles to get to the center. They are quite old, but you can use them for free. Without a lock though, so cant visit anything and leave them. The visit he promised us, stared a bit too late (I had understood he asked us to come early, so we could visit the catle, which we should have done). We have seen the bus, but the castle only the first 5 minutes, as soon it was too dark. The taxi (uncle) who drove us to he bridge and castle costed an aditional 2500 Lek, entry to the castle is 200 Lek pp. Better know before about these things. I asked before, in...

Florian is great host and the environment in his guesthouse is very nice. I strongly reccomend to choose this place if you want spend few nights in Shkoder and its surroundings. They will make your stay better.
Place is very relaxing with beautiful garden. Room is clean and with comfortable beds. There is a good breakfast with ingredients from his garden.
Florian is very nice, talkative person. He went after us because we had a problem to find his apartment. At the beginning he offered us his delicious wine. He give us some advises about Albania.
Florian's family guesthouse is a useful staging post en route to the Kolkan ferry, Valbona and Theth. It is quite far from the centre of Skodra though, with little of interest in the immediate surroundings so it may suit some to use Florian's downtown hostel instead. We found the family helpful. Florian's uncle is a taxi driver who lives next door and he took us to see a couple of the main sights. His mother provides the nicely cooked, simple, but comparatively expensive food. The air-con was not working at the time of our visit so a fan was provided. Our room was pretty basic, but we appreciated being able to leave our bags here to be looked after, and Florian was ever keen to assist with information and travel plans.
Florian welcome us very well and the garden of his family house is really beautiful. Florian helped us to organize our trip, all his advice were very usefull. Very recommandable to begin your trip in albania. Thanks again Florian !
Great place to stay, quite, friendly ,even though it is a small distance from the main town , no problem for us as we were on bikes. I enjoyed the dinner and the helpful information that was given. The family seem to work endlessly at making the guests welcome.

About the Host, Florian
We are a small family owned and operated guest house. By staying here you will be helped by a real Albanian family. In Albanian culture the guest is King or Queen and anything you need we will try our best to accommodate. By the time you leave we hope you will feel like a part of our family.
The guesthouse is set among a vineyard which my Father cultivates. We produce our own wine, which is included with lunch and dinner if you take the full board option (eat as much as you like!). The majority of all food provided is grown and produced in the guest house garden and orchard.
It’s a traditional home stay/guest house and you get a glimpse of what it is like to be part of a real Albanian family.
Florian, the owner and manager, has over 3 years tour-guiding in Albania so can give you many tips on where to go and what to see not only in Shkodër but all over the country.
Floian's sister Emanuela is our cook, and has taught traditional Albanian cuisine in Italy and her food is second-to-none. Fresh bread is also baked daily and served with every meal. We also cater to all diets, including vegan.
On request, we offer horse-riding tours or we can show visitors the nearby mountains, rivers, lakes, sea, museums, castles and different historical places around the country. We also organize buses to Albanian Alps and to Koman Lake.
One nice example of tours we organize is the hike from Valbona to Theth. You will be picked up at the guesthouse and transported to Valbona. From here you will take the hike to Theth. Next day you will be picked up again and come back to the guesthouse. This hike is very nice with some spectacular views and beautiful nature and is not to difficult.
Also, transport from or to Tirana airport, Podcoriga airport, Thethi, Ulcinj or any other destination can be organised on request for a good price.
There is free wifi, which you can use all around the grounds.
Please drop us a message if you have any questions or wish to book to stay at our guesthouse - please note that we cannot accept money through AirBnB, only cash when you arrive. We hope you will come and experience our hospitality and feel like one of the family when you leave!
