Located on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, sleeps 4-6 people, 6 single mattresses: 2 on sleeping platform (access by short ladder), 4 on floor. Please bring own bedding & drinking water. Small kitchen with: 2 gas stoves, wood burner (guests should bring own firewood); 3 kettles, 2 saucepans, 1 frying pan, 6 plates/cups/bowls/cutlery sets, 3 camping chairs. Outside waterless compost loo is 50 meters from bunkhouse. No mains running water, rain water collected for washing up & shower.

The space
The Coed Obry A-Frame bunkhouse is one open plan space with wood burner fire, kitchen and sleeping area. There is a 12v leisure battery and solar panel with USB ports so that phones and tablets can be charged up inside the bunkhouse. There is NO wifi but there is a reasonable phone signal with 3G/4G data service. Outside you have parking for up to 3 vehicles a 15 metre walk from the bunkhouse. You are in a 5-acre woodland which you are free to explore. There is a pond, bird hide, campfire, Tiny House (sleeps 2 which may occasionally be used by cycle tourists) and 2 outdoor picnic tables.

Closely located to most popular attractions in Snowdonia National park you are 1 mile from the village of Penrhyndeudraeth (with supermarket, shops, cafes, takeaway, restaurant and 2 pubs), the Ffestiniog Railway (station at Penrhyndeudraeth 0.5 miles), Portmeirion model village (2 miles), Welsh Highland Railway at Portmadog (3 miles), popular beaches of Borth y Gest (3 miles) and Morfa Bychan (5 miles), Beddgelert (4 miles), Harlech & Criccieth with their castles are 7 miles & Snowdon (10 miles). The Glaslyn Osprey visitor centre is 2 miles away. The famous climbing crags at Tremadog are 3 miles away and there is more climbing at Tanygrisiau (Blaenau Ffestiniog) 9 miles away. Blaenau Ffestiniog (9 miles) has the Llechwedd and Zip World Slate Caverns and Antur Stiniog downhill mountain bike centre. Coed y Brenin (mountain bike centre and walking trails) is 15 miles.

During your stay

Guests normally self check-in using detailed instructions (giving travel directions, codes for gate and bunkhouse locks etc) sent in a PDF file beforehand. Tim will usually be in residence in a separate cabin 50m away if guests have questions or need local advice. I have lots of local information in a file and there is a noticeboard with local attractions too.
