Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Otway Ranges with a stay at The Wren's Nest. Located centrally in the picturesque town of Forrest, our two bedroom cottage offers a perfect getaway for couples, families or small groups of friends. Spend your days enjoying mountain bike riding, bush-walking, waterfall gazing, fabulous food, wine and locally crafted beers and your evenings relaxing on the back deck watching the sunset, enjoying a massaging spa bath or lazing by the fire in a recliner.

The space
**** Please note, due to recent COVID restrictions we are only currently open for bookings from regional Victorians. Please do not book at the moment if you are from greater Melbourne. Airbnb has a very strict cancellation policy in regards to cancelling for COVID / government lockdowns. ****

We have recently become the new owners of The Wren's Nest - it has been listed on Airbnb for several years and boasts over 100 positive reviews from previous guests. After some renovations and updates we are ready to share this fabulous home with guests again.

The Wren's Nest is a two bedroom cottage with a large kitchen dining area and separate lounge room with a fireplace. The kitchen dining area opens onto a spacious outdoor deck with a BBQ and outdoor lounge where you can enjoy the outlook over the garden and into the hills behind. From here you can view the neighbouring horses as well as the visiting kookaburras, ducks, cockatoos and kangaroos and watch the sunset through the gumtrees. The house has a separate lounge with 2 leather recliner chairs and a 3 seater couch that surround the cosy fireplace. A large Smart TV and some beautiful books to peruse will enhance your relaxation.

The master bedroom has a good quality king size bed with bedside tables and reading lamps. The second bedroom has a king single bed as well as a single bunk bed and sleeps up to 3 people. The bathroom features a large spa bath fabulous for relaxing in after a day of bush-walking or bike-riding and a newly renovated shower with a rain shower head. There is a separate toilet as well as a laundry with a washing machine and clothes rack for your use.

The kitchen is fabulous to cook in and the cupboards are filled with everything you need to prepare some delicious home cooked meals during your stay. The kitchen has a large stove and oven, a dishwasher and a range of appliances - toaster, kettle, sandwich press, slow cooker and a microwave. A large dining table allows plenty of room for eating, newspaper reading, jigsaw puzzles and games.

Off-road car-parking is provided and a small lockable shed is available to store your bikes. There are split systems for heating and cooling as well as ceiling fans in the main living areas and a fireplace in the lounge.

All linen and towels are included. Please make sure you enter the correct number of guests during the booking process so that the right amount of beds are made up and towels are supplied. Free wifi is provided.

We are family friendly!
Forrest is a great place to bring kids with fabulous bush-walking, rock scrambling, waterfalls and bike riding options and just generally spending time in nature and away from screens! We have kids of our own and have stayed in many Airbnbs with them so we know what families are looking for. We offer a portocot (please bring your own sheets), ikea high chair, infant bath seat, a cupboard full of toys and books and child friendly plates, cups and bowls in the kitchen. There is even a tyre swing on the gumtree out the back to enjoy! Note: be aware for crawlers and toddlers that there are 3 internal stairs in the cottage to get from the bedroom / lounge area down to the kitchen / dining area. There is a door at the top of the stair area that can be closed to keep little ones in one area as needed.

We care about the environment.
We are working hard to make The Wren's Nest as environmentally-friendly as possible. All cleaning products used at the house are eco-friendly and we consider the environmental impacts of the products and appliances we purchase as we upgrade the house. We will continue to work on ways to reduce the environmental impact of hosting guests in our home.

Pets
Please contact us if you are considering bringing your pet. While the garden is fenced it is not pet-proof and there are neighbouring horses and ducks which may attract some dogs. Pets are strictly not allowed in the house or on the outdoor furniture.

Where you’ll be

Forrest, Victoria, Australia

Our favourite things to do in Forrest and surrounds are:
Lake Elizabeth - follow the well worn track to the tranquil Lake Elizabeth and enjoy being surrounded by majestic gum trees and lush ferns.
Stevensons Falls - walk the easy trail to the waterfall, wander amongst the giant redwood trees, climb on the rocks around the waterfall and dip your toes in on a warm day. A great place for a picnic.
West Barwon Reservoir - take a walk along the creek (look out for the koala’s) or through Fern Gully to view the impressive reservoir.
Bike Riding - explore the many picturesque mountain bike riding tracks that surround Forrest - there is something for all ages and abilities starting from the kid-friendly (and very fun) mountain bike practice trail in town right up to a range of high intensity trails. And if you are not a bike-rider, walking these trails is a fabulous way to experience being immersed in nature.

For those who want to travel further afield, the Great Ocean Road is only a 40 minute drive away through picturesque rainforest. Turn right when you reach the Great Ocean Road and enjoy some time in the fabulous Apollo Bay, turn left and find a beach all to yourselves. Another day trip could include a picnic under the magnificent California Redwoods in Beech Forrest and a visit to the nearby Hopetoun Falls, Beauchamp Falls or Triplet Falls. The Otway Fly is also a great day trip from The Wren's Nest.

For food, wine and beer lovers, Forrest is the home of the Forrest Brewing Company offering delicious meals and locally crafted beer (book to avoid missing out), the local pub is open daily and Platypi Chocolate offers artisan chocolates, hot drinks and lunch daily. Nearby in Birregurra is the award winning Brae restaurant and fabulous Yield Restaurant (bookings essential for both). Several berry farms and winery’s are also in the area surrounding Forrest and well worth a visit on the way to Forrest or back home.
