The location was perfect for walking to the beach and old Suan. The space was great with an amazing view. It was good to have two bathrooms and a kitchen space to cook in. Only complaint was it was over looking over a very busy high way which was loud at night and without ac it w…

Response from Lisa:
Dear Emma, PR-25R (Ave. Muñoz Rivera) is a two-lane main street into San Juan, but not a highway. It runs parallel to the new boardwalk designed for pedestrians and bicycles and features beaches, parks, restaurants and historic buildings (the Capitol building among them), connecting Condado with Old San Juan. I mention the street noise in the description of the apartment. As also described in the ad, the apartment works with cross ventilation/Ocean breeze and five ceiling ventilators. The additional pedestal fan just broke down before you came and the new one I bought turned out not to be satisfactory. I just returned it and will place another floor fan in the apartment for more comfort during the summer months. I'm sorry you felt hot, but am glad you otherwise enjoyed your stay! Thank you.

Lisa's apartment was perfect for us! Walking distance from Old San Juan and minutes from Condado, it was exactly what we wanted for our first visit to PR. The apartment has a large, amazing view of the ocean, and the newly constructed boardwalk right across the street is a lovely…

Lisa was a wonderful host! She kindly offered to pick me up at the airport for $10 (cheaper than a cab) and took me to lunch at a lovely seaside restaurant and provided recommendations, then brought me to the apartment to check in. The apartment was more space than I (traveling s…

Thank you for your detailed review, Katie. In my post I suggest using Calle Matías Ledesma corner Ave. Muñoz Rivera for GPS. That's just at the corner of the building, between the Shell station and the small church. Since hurricane Maria many of the street lights are still out, making it in general a bit unpleasant walking alone at night in San Juan. But the lights are slowly coming back, and with them the neighborhood will feel less lonely again. Puerta de Tierra is a transit strip between Condado, Miramar and Old San Juan - but it has a lively (art) community, several restaurants and simple stores on Calle San Agustín, as well as many historic attractions, besides the Escambrón Beach, the Parque Muñoz Rivera, and the Capitol Building. As for the mosquitoes I'm sorry to hear they enjoyed biting you! Mosquito spray, Off spray, an electric mosquito swatter and a mosquito light are placed in the apartment to help control them and the ceiling and pedestal ventilators help, too. I suggest for all of Puerto Rico long pants and light colors, especially at daybreak and dawn, when they are most active. Keep that in mind for your next trip! Saludos!
