Great location

The Bohemian Firehouse was the living quarters for the men stationed there when it was built in 1916. It sits above a retail space which housed the firetruck. The charming brick building is in near original condition, despite surviving a major flood and a derecho. You'll love the gorgeous woodwork, vintage tile and light fixtures. But you'll appreciate some modern touches like air conditioning, an updated kitchen and smart tv. Still, it's easy to imagine the stories these walls could tell.

The space
The second floor apartment was the living quarters for the 4 fireman on duty at anytime. It features warm wood floors, and lots of windows (privacy blinds on all windows). The modern kitchenette has a full size refrigerator, microwave and cooktop (no oven). It is well equipped with everything you may need for a weekend or a week. There is a coffee with Keurig, coffee pods and tea.
The ample bathroom has vintage tile, and built in lockers for each fireman. You'll love the light, open living/sleeping area overlooking the Newbo Market district. The king size bed has a luxurious memory foam mattress, beneath a mural of the 1890s firehouse team. The living area sports a stylish leather sofa which opens up to a very comfortable queen size bed. You'll love the historic firehouse touches, such as the trap door for the original fire pole, still visible in the front corner of the lower level.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States

The Bohemian Firehouse is literally in the heart of the Newbo district, directly across the street from the market. The market is home to several restaurants, boutique shops inside, and countless events and festivals outdoors during the summer months. Some of these events include;
Meet Me at the Market every Thursday evening-a free weekly health and wellness program.
Rock the Block every Friday evening- free live music on the lawn.
Food Truck Tuesdays-various food trucks at the Market for 11-2
On the banks of the Cedar River, it is the hippest neighborhood in town. There are many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and museums, just within walking distance. Cross the bridge and you'll find even more in the Czech Village area.
There are 4 bag chairs in the closet in the kitchen which you are welcome to use.
