My husband and I travelled to the lovely Cowichan Valley to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary this May. We really enjoyed the suite we rented from Kim & Paul. The home had a beautiful kitchen with a comfortable island where we enjoyed our meals and sipped wine bought from one of the many local vineyards. The bed was absolutely comfy and with the window open at night we could hear the mama deer and her fawn rustling in the brush around the house in the moonlight. We took a 3 hour kayak tour of Cowichan Bay and explored the lovely Duncan farmer's market (a short drive away). We drank delicious latte's from Serious Coffee and at the end of a day's adventures, we were always very happy to return to our country retreat where we would enjoy a cup of tea and I would often enjoy a good book in the lovely tub (complete with provided bubble baths). Often late at night the sky is so dark you can see the twinkling stars clearly, and the location is very quiet and private. Thank you Kim and Paul for a wonderful time and a beautiful spot.
We stayed in this wonderful home for a month in Jan. 2012. It was clean, comfortable and beautiful. Everything we needed for an enjoyable stay was provided. The bed and linens were nice and comfortable. Heated floors throughout the house even kept our toes warm when it was cold outside. We caught up on some fun movies from their collection and the kitchen was modern and all of the dishes and cooking supplies we needed were there for us to use. The entire house was thoughtfully prepared for guests and we honestly couldn't think of a negative thing to write.
The scenery around the house was just gorgeous. Huge, towering trees jutting up into the sky all around the house and a babbling stream running next to the driveway made for a truly memory filled stay. We saw deer out of the living room and kitchen windows almost every day to our delight. At night it was blissfully quiet too. The island is a wonderful and picturesque place to explore.
Interaction with the house owners couldn't have been better. They were attentive and we could tell that the genuinely wanted for us to have a good stay. We would love to return again one day and would in a heartbeat.

Hello! My husband and I are self-employed business people. He in landscaping and myself in health care. We take great pleasure in offering accomodation in our home to people like yourselves, who are looking for something special with comfort, convenience, and reasonable cost. We use Airbnb ourselves and love the freedom it gives us to travel within a modest budget.
You can be sure we will do our best to make everything perfect for your stay.
Our home on Vancouver Island is the most wonderful, peaceful, forested, retreat, with many recreational options for both winter and summer. Staying here will restore your body, mind, and soul. The Cowichan Valley is also reknowned for its wineries, and slow growing organic farms. Your taste buds will delight at the local restaurants and farmer's markets.
We believe truly enjoyable travel is all about the neighbourhoods, the local people and the natural environment. We use airbnb accomodation because airbnb makes us feel at home, even when we are away! For us, this is travelling at its' best. And when you stay at Shawnigan Woods you will know what it is like to be at home in the charming rural community of Shawnigan Lake, on beautiful Vancouver Island. Enjoy!
