A unique heritage building 100 years young, repurposed into our tiny cottage. Opposite the waterfall, near cradle mountain and Tarkine wilderness. Comfortable modern facilities mingled with old world charm. antiques and memorabilia to create an interesting yet warm and cosy ambience. We have a stack of history books to flip through and peruse. Comfy chairs and knee rugs to snuggle in when it’s cold outside. Hibernate and recharge your batteries ... just enjoy.

Where you’ll be

Waratah, Tasmania, Australia

It’s just a hop skip and jump or a lazy 2 minute walk to the pub, cafe or roadhouse from Ye Olde Waratah Post Office Heritage Cottage. Walk to view the platypus playing in the town lakes. Check out the stamper mill, the museum and follow the history walk of the village along the way. Across the street is the waterfall viewing platform. Waratah is the only town in the Southern Hemisphere with a waterfall in the Main Street, the view is amazing and different every day. Philosophers Falls is a short drive out of town on the Corinna Rd and an easy walk through the canopy of rainforest and fungi to the falls lookout. A must do and see when staying in Waratah.

Hi I'm Sandra, my husband Darrel and I previously owned Rooftops BnB in NSW for 14 years but in 2017 it came time to scale down and return home to Tasmania and so we did. After searching the length and breadth of Tassie for a place to call home we found the Waratah Post Office in July of 2018 and instantly fell in love with it. Raw and unloved, with no bathroom, kitchen or bedroom we set about renovating it and lovingly transforming it into our Tiny Home. Not only was it the towns PO but the local Bank, and council Library. Filled with some beautiful timber features and a very large ornate counter, pressed tin ceilings and gorgeous feature windows. We even have our very own walk-in bank safe. We have managed to recycle and utilise all of these eclectic features retaining the look and feel of the old world charm making it our tiny home. We have worked hard to keep the old world charm, we built a brand new bathroom and a country look kitchen in keeping with the era. Underfloor heating was installed in the bathroom and a lovely pellet wood heater in the old fireplace to keep you cosy and warm during your stay. We are excited to welcome you as our guests to our home.
