We invite you to come and stay in our beautiful, clean home, on a quiet street. Friendly hosts. Easy access to all parts of Memphis. Private bathroom. Continental breakfast. Max. 3 people (in 2 rooms). You'll sleep well here. Read our great reviews!
We can accommodate up to three guests traveling together, and there are TWO separate rooms (which may not otherwise be clear). One of the rooms has a comfortable queen-sized bed with a good quality (firm) mattress, and freshly ironed sheets. There's space for clothing in the dresser drawers and closet. The other room is just as big, but has a twin size bed, and does not have as much storage space. (No photo yet, coming soon.) The full bathroom is right next door, and you'll have it all to yourselves (towels, shampoo, soap are of course provided). No other guests will be there. Please note that this is a two-story house, and the bedrooms and bathroom are all upstairs.
The basic price is for two people sharing the larger bed. If there is a third person, there is a small extra charge for using the second room. However, if two people each want their own room, the extra charge will be applied.
If you stay 4 nights or more, you can use the washer and dryer. Other things you might need (hairdryer, iron, etc) are always available, just ask.
What makes this home unique is the quiet, very safe location and beautifully landscaped back yard, best enjoyed in spring or fall, a gardener's delight.
If you're new to Airbnb, we recommend that you make an "inquiry" before making a reservation, and let us know a little about the purpose of your visit, etc. ALSO PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE A COMPLETED PROFILE AND PHOTO OF YOURSELF!
We can discuss any cooking you might want to do on an individual basis, and it won't usually be a problem - but please ask first!
Guests have access to everywhere (except our bedroom). The house is spacious, and you are welcome to use the living room. There is a beautiful, secluded garden and deck where you can sit and have a drink. A self-serve healthy Continental breakfast is included in the price. We'll try to customize this to your preferences.
Our kitchen is available for light cooking, just let us know ahead of time so we won't be in each other's way.
Interaction with Guests
We have really enjoyed the diversity of our guests, and have had some great conversations over a drink or even dinner. We love friendly guests, that's what Airbnb is all about, I think. But on the other hand, if you prefer to keep to yourself, that's just fine too. We will totally respect your privacy.
This is a great location, an established, upscale, safe neighborhood, known as East Memphis. It's still part of the city (not a suburb) and many people consider this the best part of Memphis. Our little street features nice homes, lots of trees and it's very quiet. You will sleep well here.
We are really close to the Memphis Botanic Garden, and the Dixon Gallery.... and the only Whole Foods store in Memphis (great for take-out).
There are several excellent grocery stores less than a mile away, as well as many restaurants, nice shops, a movie theater, museums, parks, etc., all within 5-10 minutes drive. We're also near the Racquet Club, if you're here for a tennis tournament. We're about 15 mins away from Midtown, 25 mins to Downtown or Graceland. (It's a very easy drive, one straight road all the way downtown.)
To be honest, public transport in Memphis is not very good. You really need to have your own vehicle, which you can safely park in our quiet, cul-de-sac street. Bikes can be stored in our garage. We have been known to pick guests up or drive them somewhere, when we are able (usually weekends). And taxis are quite reasonably priced here.
Other Things to Note
Check-in time is between 5 PM and 9 PM, please. Check-out is before noon. We do need to know your approximate arrival time, so we can be sure to be there to welcome you.
The person making the booking must be the same person who is staying, and we may ask to see photo ID if there is any doubt.
Check in is after 5:00 PM, and before 9:00 PM. We can occasionally accommodate a different check time, e.g. at the weekend. We ask you to please be quiet after 10:30 PM (I get up very early for work). No pets and no children under 10. No smoking inside the house, but smoking could be allowed outside. Please put your luggage on the luggage rack or on the floor, and not on the clean bed. Only water to drink in the bedroom, please, and no food. And please... after you take a shower, don't leave the curtain all at one side, spread it out; Memphis humidity makes it easy for things to become mildewed.
Our stay with Ed and Juliet was our first experience using Airbnb and we could not have asked for better hosts or a more comfortable and beautiful home to stay in! They were incredibly thoughtful in the small details of our stay: leaving out breakfast and coffee, asking frequently if we were too warm or cold at night (the temperature was perfect!), and having tons of information available about Memphis, among so many other things. The room and bathroom are immaculate and very comfortable.
We were house hunting in Memphis before we move there this summer and they were so helpful in answering our questions about the neighborhoods, schools, and hospitals. House hunting is a very stressful process at times but Ed and Juliet really helped us through it this past week! Thanks for a wonderful stay and exceptional hospitality!
Juliet and her husband Ed are welcoming and generous with their space and time. Their home is beautiful, only to be bested by their garden out back, which I have to imagine is even more beautiful in summer months. Juliet and Ed are great company, and gave great advise on how to spend our vacation, while giving us plenty of space and time to ourselves when needed. Everything was provided, from breakfast to shaving cream to fridge space (if needed). The home is 20 or so minutes away from most of the touristy parts of Memphis, but the commute in is easy and the distance is nice at night. We definitely recommend it, and hope to return at some point soon!
We had a wonderful week-long stay with Juliet and Ed. The bedroom is very comfy and clean, as is the rest of the house. They are both so gracious, helpful and friendly. It is very obvious that they try to make guests feel welcome, and they are concerned that everything is just right. We would definitely stay with them again if we return to Memphis.
Nice place and good clean house, lovely couple as the host. Birds are beautiful to look outside at the yard
Ed and Juliet made me feel most welcome in their home which was lovely and is in a very nice neighborhood in east Memphis convenient to good restaurants and great shopping. My room was spacious, perfectly clean, with nice linens, closet space, and a dresser for my clothes. Bathroom nicer than my own with a great tub and shower. Breakfast with toast and coffee watching the birds at the feeder was wonderful. Juliet was out of town for most of my 2+ week stay! but I really enjoyed getting to know Ed. We shared great some meals together and watched some good shows on PBS. He is a true gentleman, bright, and engaging.
This is a European-style B&B in the heart Memphis, TN of all places. Stay here and stay an extra day in Memphis.
It was fine! Very clean, felt very safe ,
Super comfortable bed. We really enjoyed watching the Buckeyes beat the Ducks with Ed our host.
Our short visit with Juliet & Ed was splendid! Their home is beautiful and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts with views of their lovely garden and variety of birds while we sipped our tea. The room was simple, clean and perfect for our needs. Location was great as well... Everything seemed to be 15-20 min from where we were staying.

Hi, I'm Juliet and Ed is my husband. We are active, adventurous baby-boomers!
We love to travel and have visited many countries in Europe and Latin America. We really enjoy using Airbnb, both as hosts and as guests. We are non-smokers; we like walking, swimming, gardening, reading, visiting museums, live theater, good food and wine, good conversations. Ed likes to ride his bike and in 2013 he rode halfway across the USA, from Chicago to Maine. Last year (2014) we both rode along the Danube, from Passau to Vienna. If you bring your bikes, Ed can show you some places to ride - we're near the Greenline. And if you like to cook, perhaps we can make dinner together one evening (I'm vegetarian). We'd love to share a cup of tea or glass of wine with you, whatever your preference!
We are avid supporters of protecting the environment, and we try to practice sustainable living: we recycle, compost, grow some of our own vegetables. Don't be surprised that we only provide cloth napkins.
We don't have any pets. Ed is a retired pharmacist; I'm an occupational therapist, still working. I was born in England, and have also lived in Spain. I speak fluent Spanish, and reasonable French. Ed is originally from Ohio. We have really enjoyed meeting all our Airbnb guests from all over the world ... And we'd love to meet you! Venez nous voir si vous parlez français! Si prefieren comunicarse conmigo en español, no hay problema!
