The Space

We'd love to welcome you to our beautiful home, centrally located in what many people consider the best part of Memphis. This established, upscale neighborhood is a great location. It's quiet, with no street noise at night. Please note that this is a two-story house, and the bedrooms are all upstairs.

Your room has a queen-sized bed with a good quality, (firm) mattress, and freshly ironed sheets. There's some space for your things in the dresser drawers and closet. The bathroom is right next door, and you'll have it all to yourself (towels, shampoo, soap are provided). There is also the possibility of using a day bed, in another room, for an extra charge. This might work for a third person, or if two people don't want to share a bed. If you're interested in this, please ask first.

Our house is spacious, with a beautiful, secluded garden and deck where you can sit and have coffee or whatever. A self-serve light breakfast is included in the price. Also, we can discuss any cooking you might want to do on an individual basis, and it won't usually be a problem - but please ask first! If you stay 4 nights or more, you can use the washer and dryer. Other things you might need (hairdryer, iron, etc) are available, just ask.

Check-in time is between 5 PM and 9 PM, please. Check-out time is before noon. We still need to know your approximate arrival time, so we can be sure to be there to welcome you.

This is a great neighborhood, often thought of as the best part of Memphis to live. There are excellent grocery stores (Whole Foods, Kroger) less than a mile away, as well as good shops, restaurants, a movie theater, museums, parks, etc., all within 10 minutes drive. I'll give you a list of local attractions when you arrive. We're about 15 mins away from Cooper-Young, 25 mins to Downtown or Graceland.(It's a very easy drive, one straight road all the way downtown.)

To be honest, public transport in Memphis is not good. You really need to have your own vehicle, which you can safely park in our quiet, cul-de-sac street.

What makes this home unique is the quiet location and beautifully landscaped back yard, best enjoyed in spring or fall, a gardener's delight. Be sure to read our reviews; so far we have been given 5 stars in all categories, and we're really hoping to keep it that way.
If you'd like to come and stay at our home, we recommend that you make an "inquiry" before making a reservation, and let us know a little about the purpose of your visit, etc. Also please have a completed profile, and a photograph of yourself.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are a first time user of Airbnb, please note that we are not a Bed and Breakfast Inn, but a private home offering a bedroom to guests. Consequently, our rates are far lower than those of a standard Bed and Breakfast Inn.

Thank you for reading - we hope to hear from you soon!

  • Our southern trip got off to a wonderful start in the home of Juliet and Ed. They have a beautiful home that is much cozier in person than in pictures. Ed and Juliet were so accommodating and helpful. Before our trip Juliet touched based with me and asked If I had any special requests for breakfast. I couldn't ask for better hosts. We got to spend two nights in their home. The room and the bathroom had everything we needed which included things from toothpaste to brochures and books on what to do in Tennessee. The bed was firm, but I actually slept really good!! If we come back to Memphis, I will Definitely stay with Juliet and Ed.

  • We stayed with Juliet and Ed for 2 nights to explore Memphis and they are fantastic hosts. Very friendly and helpful with suggestions for the area, we enjoyed the time to chat with both of them. The house is very clean, the guest room is large, comfortable and private. We really enjoyed time in their garden, which has nice seating for morning coffee. They were very nice to arrange a light breakfast. The house is in a quiet neighborhood but still easily accessible to downtown. We recommend a stay with Juliet and Ed!

  • My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Juliet and Ed. They were thoughtful and generous hosts. We had easy and good conversations at breakfast and in passing. The room was comfortable, quiet and clean. The house is in a beautiful section of Memphis. The room looks out over their sculpted garden. We were fortunate to be there when the azaleas were in full bloom.

  • Juliet and Ed were our first experience of Airbnb. They sold it to us! They were very welcoming and we enjoyed chatting on our first evening. Their home is very comfortable. It was a shame that we didn't have time to sit out in their lovely garden. Their house is easy to find and in a good location for driving downtown. We enjoyed a meal at their recommendation of a local Greek restaurant. As Brits, we appreciated a real cup of tea!

  • If you want inviting, spotlessly clean, comfortable, roomy, restful, and quite accommodations (plus ironed sheets), then this is the perfect place.
Our trip to Memphis was greatly enhanced because of the wonderful experience with our hosts, Juliet and Ed. The location was conveniently located, and our hosts were exceptional. We were made to feel very welcome, and since it was our first stay at an airbnb, it was important to us that our hosts put us at ease.
The evening of our arrival Ed drove with us to give a tour of the city, before nightfall. Then he joined us for some barbeque (email hidden)en on our last evening, before we left, Juliet and Ed joined us for a lovely dinner with great conversation.
We much enjoyed having breakfast with a view of their picturesque and relaxing backyard landscape, including the activity around the bird feeders. What a great way to begin a day! Juliet, since she lived in Spain, helped me one evening to plan some places to go in a trip we are beginning to plan for next year.

When we left, we felt like we had just visited some old friends.

About
Hi, I'm Juliet and Ed is my husband. We are active, adventurous baby-boomers! We love to travel and have visited many countries in Europe and Latin America. We really enjoy using Airbnb, both as hosts and as guests. We are non-smokers; we like walking, swimming, gardening, reading, visiting museums, live theater, good food and wine, good conversations. Ed likes to ride his bike and last summer (2013) he rode halfway across the USA, from Chicago to Maine. If you bring your bikes, Ed can show you some places to ride - we're near the Greenline. And if you like to cook, perhaps we can make dinner together one evening. We'd love to share a cup of tea or glass of wine with you, whatever your preference! We are avid supporters of environmental protection and try to practice sustainable living: we recycle, compost, grow some of our own vegetables. Don't be surprised if we only provide cloth napkins. We don't have any pets. Ed is a retired pharmacist; I'm an occupational therapist, still working. I was born in England, and have also lived in Spain. I speak fluent Spanish, and OK French. Ed is originally from Ohio. We have really enjoyed meeting all our Airbnb guests from all over the world ... And we'd love to meet you!
