About this listing
We invite you to come and stay in our beautiful, clean home, on a quiet street. Friendly hosts. Easy access to all parts of Memphis. No pets. Private bathroom, completely renovated July 2015. Light breakfast, customized to your preferences. Max. 3 people (in 2 rooms). You'll sleep very well here.
"Best Airbnb experience we've ever had." (Robi, Slovenia) Your room overlooks the back garden, so it's very quiet. The shutters can be fully closed to darken the room. Ceiling fan.
(This listing is rated #29 out of over 300 listings in Memphis, according to Airdna.)
We can accommodate up to three guests traveling together, and we have two separate rooms. One of the rooms has a comfortable queen-sized bed with a good quality (firm) mattress, and freshly ironed cotton sheets. There's plenty of space for clothing in the dresser drawers and closet. The other room is just as big, but has a twin-sized (or "single") bed, but does not have any storage space, except for the table where you can put your suitcase. (Please note, it is not a "common space" as mentioned above, but a separate bedroom.) There are ceiling fans in both rooms. The full bathroom is right next door, and you'll have it all to yourself (nice towels, shampoo, soap are provided).
No other guests will be here during your stay. Please note that this is a two-story house, and your bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. It's our home and we live here too.
The basic price is for one or two people using the larger bed. If there is a third person, there is a small extra charge for using the second room. However, whenever both rooms are used, e.g. if two people each wanted their own room, the extra charge will be applied.
If you stay 4 nights or more, you may use the washer and dryer. Other things you might need (hairdryer, iron, etc) are always available, just ask.
What makes this home unique is the quiet, very safe location and beautifully landscaped back yard, best enjoyed in spring or fall, a gardener's delight.
If you're new to Airbnb, we recommend that you make an "inquiry" before making a reservation, and let us know a little about the purpose of your visit, etc. ALSO PLEASE BE SURE TO HAVE A COMPLETED PROFILE AND PHOTO OF YOURSELF!
We can discuss any cooking you might want to do on an individual basis, and it won't usually be a problem.
Guests have access to everywhere in the house except our bedroom. The house is spacious, and you are welcome to use the living room to read, watch TV, or chat with us. There is a beautiful, secluded garden and deck which you are welcome to use. A self-serve light, healthy, breakfast is included in the price, and we always aim to adapt this to your preference.
Our kitchen is available for light cooking, just let us know ahead of time so we can plan.
Interaction with Guests
We have really enjoyed the diversity of our guests, and have had some great conversations over a drink or even dinner. We love friendly guests, that's what Airbnb is all about. But on the other hand, if you prefer to keep to yourself, that's just fine too. We will totally respect your privacy. We're mostly both at home in the evenings, but sometimes one or other of us will be out, or even away for the weekend.
Our location is an established, upscale, safe neighborhood, known as East Memphis. It's definitely still part of the city (not a suburb) and many people consider this the best part of Memphis to live in. We're about 15 minutes away from Midtown, 25 minutes to Downtown or Graceland. (It's a very easy drive, one straight road all the way downtown.)
We are close to the Memphis Botanic Garden, and the Dixon Gallery.... and the only Whole Foods store in Memphis (great for take-out).
There are several other good grocery stores less than a mile away, as well as many restaurants, nice shops, a movie theater, museums, parks, etc., all within 5-10 minutes drive. We're also near the Racquet Club, if you're here for tennis.
We really recommend you bring your own vehicle (which you can safely park in our quiet, cul-de-sac street) or you can use Lyft or Uber (cab service). Bikes can be stored in our garage. Occasionally, we have been known to pick guests up at the bus or train station, or drive them somewhere whenever we are able (usually weekends but also on Wednesdays).
