Michael and I are looking for quiet, considerate guest(s) who just need a nice, clean, & friendly place to land while visiting Yosemite (30 mi away), Bass Lake (25 mi away), Chukchansi Casino (8 minutes away), and/or Fresno, 30 mi away to the South. I have lots of maps and brochures available to help you plan your Yosemite adventure, and I will be happy to go over them with you so you don't miss anything important.
This home is easy to find in the daytime, just 1 mi. off Hwy. 41. You will see a lot of wildlife here - hummingbirds, quail, woodpeckers, blue jays, hooting owls at night, deer, squirrels & rabbits - and of course my elderly rescue pug and a handful of picky cats! (My pets are not allowed in guest quarters and there are air purifiers if you are extremely allergic, but please note they DO live here. People who are ok with my pets may have full use of my kitchen -- refrigerator, utensils/pans/dishes, etc.,) to cook and prepare your food betw. the hours of 8 am - 8 pm, as long as you clean up after yourselves and don't bang around the pots and pans.. There is also complimentary coffee or tea in your room, and you are welcome to sit at the dining table in the next room, or out at the table under the umbrella next to the fountain in the courtyard.
We are warm and friendly hosts and one or both of us will be here during your stay. There are complimentary in-room snacks and purified water in the kitchen, too. Just know there are other tenants here & everyone (usually) keeps a low volume presence.
Smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas only.
IMPORTANT! We have 3 other listings so please check them out, too. They are much bigger. Also, in keeping with the quiet, park-like surroundings, people with small children are welcome to book the Casita, which has a living room, kitchen, bath w/shower, one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and two double futons in the living room, a fenced backyard and nice deck, and is well away from the main house.
* Lg Suite w/Priv. Entrance 30 mi/Yos
* Quiet & Private Casita w/Large Deck
* Upstairs Treetop Studio
IMPORTANT: Please note that 1-night listings are accepted only between Sunday and Wednesday nights. Longer reservations are accepted for any dates available, and you are welcome to use my kitchen and fridge to cook your own breakfasts. Please bring food with you. This is the country and we don't have any nearby grocery stores.
This is the country. There is no public transportation available so you will need to bring your car or rent one.
PLUMBING ALERT! Please do not put anything in the toilets except toilet paper or you will clog our plumbing. There are wastecans in every bathroom -- please use them.
Ginger was very welcoming, helped us plan our trip to Yosemite National Park and even lent us maps.
The room was cozy and equipped with a coffee maker and a microwave. It also has a bay window (which I personally like very much) and the bed is comfortable.
The property is situated in the beautiful landscape around Yosemite and apparently offers various (partially dangerous) possibilities to explore local wildlife. It's a bit of a drive from the National Park but if you're looking for a nice room and have a tight budget I very much recommend this host.
The room and the house is extremely charming. The room features a queen bed with a nice mattress, pleasant bed covers and pillows. There are plenty of dishes/bowls/cups etc. in the room and more are available in the kitchen. The bathroom across the courtyard is nice and functional. We shared the bathroom with the host for a portion of the stay but that was not an issue at all.
Ginger is extremely nice and goes over the house rules and orients the guests to the property. The kitchen and dining area is open and accessible to all guests. She had fresh fruit available for us to take with on the days we were out.
Ginger is a treasure trove of information about the area in general and the park specifically. Take the time to sit down with her and make use of her information. She has a lot of great maps and information booklets that she allowed us to borrow for the duration of our trip. Some of the maps we used were better than the NPS park maps in terms of clear depiction of information.
The only word of advise - research distances real well. Her house is 30 miles from the park entrance but these 30 miles are on winding mountain roads - a good 45 mins. drive. This is the park entrance, the first attraction in the Yosemite Valley - the Tunnel View - is another 24 miles inside the park and these roads have a 35 mph speed limit! It took us an average of 2 hours to get from the Yosemite Village to Ginger's place each way - count of this when planning the trip. Ginger has a mileage list for all attractions from her place - use it to plan your days in the area.
We spent a wonderful day in Ginger and Michael's home. The room was ost comfortable, the welcome exceptionally warm and forthcoming. Beyond this, we discovered a small paradise. Ideally located, Ginger and Michael's home is surrounded by nature and host to humming birds, deers, squirrels... and Gladys, the sheep who thinks itself to be a horse. A real delight!

Ginger and Michael were both lovely people to stay with, they were very helpful in their advice for things to do at Yosemite national park and their guidance made sure we had a trip to never forget. They made us feel at home and it is a beautiful place to have stayed.
We had a great stay with Ginger & Michael. Their house is very homely and comfortable. We stayed for 2 nights to hike Yosemite & they were very helpful with advice on walks etc. Ginger also gave us great recommendations on local restaurants. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we certainly enjoyed our stay with these great hosts.
Our time with Ginger and Michael was great. A nice place in a peaceful environment (a great change coming from loud and crowded San Francisco), animals around, a clean and comfortable room, friendly and caring hosts – perfect!
Ginger's recommendations about the Yosemite are invaluable for maximizing the experience if you have limited time.
My experience with Ginger's home was nothing short of amazing. Ginger is extremely knowledgeable on Yosemite and key points to see if you are on a time crunch. Her home is beautiful on the inside and out. It was clean and about 25-30 minutes drive to Yosemite National Park. I would definitely return.
Huge beautiful house in the wild. If you are looking for a getaway from your city life. Look no further, this is it. We arrived late due to gps direction so please make sure you use hw 41 to host place. Host makes great recommendation on places to visit in Yosemite.
Separately, Pls note that your phone might not get signal in the area so contact host via email early. Cheers
We had a really, really nice and comfortable stay at Ginger's place. It's a beautiful house located in the forest near Oakhurst, quite close to Yosemite, perfect for peace and quiet if you want to avoid the park massification of people. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and clean. We had the chance to meet squirrels and rabbits in the surroundings of the house, some deer and horses, and their little Molly, a very friendly dog. And we also had the chance to meet Ginger and Michael. Ginger and Michael... we can not find words to thank them, for they being so good and kind to us, so authentic. We wish you all the best, and to never change. Thanks for crossing paths in this live with us!
This was my first experience using Airbnb and I wasn't sure what to expect, but Ginger has honestly set the bar very high. She and Mike were excellent hosts. I told her I was going to be hiking Yosemite and when I arrived at her home she already had booklets and a map sitting out for me to use. I was originally intending to hike the half dome, but my number didn't get selected in the lottery, so I couldn't get a permit. When I asked for a suggestion of a good hike, she recommended the Mist Trail (Vernal & Nevada Falls) and it didn't disappoint. The room I stayed in was well furnished and most importantly, in my case, had a very comfortable bed and a coffee maker (with several brands of coffee to choose from) in addition to other appliances. The house is amazing. The kitchen and common areas are large, open and appear laid out in a way to foster interaction among guests. Part of the appeal of my room was it's location just off of a courtyard with a fountain. I couldn't help but stop and stargaze from the court yard each night on my way from the house to my room. I found it comforting that Ginger doesn't make you feel like a person just staying in her home, but instead goes out of her way to make you feel at home by giving you use of her kitchen and laundry facilities. I was most impressed by how personable she was. On my last day there I finally had a chance to actually talk to her and I truly had one of the best conversations I've had in quite some time. You can only say so much in a review, but her hospitality and comfortable home made my experience there a great one and I'm very appreciative of that. If you're planning on visiting Yosemite or going to be remotely close to the Coarsegold area, I highly recommend staying with Ginger.
