The space

Field cottage is around 200 years old, being built before 1823 and was originally two cottages used by workers of the brick quarry. Much of our inspiration comes from Bermuda, where we lived for 4 years. Some of the furniture and art is from Bermuda, where we scavenged to find treasures that would remind us of its friendliness, history and beauty. Other pieces of furniture are family heirlooms and antiques. We are now bringing in some inspiration from Switzerland, where we now live, such as sheepskins and rugs for enjoying being al fresco on cooler days.

The Hideaway is situated between the pretty village of Ulcombe, Headcorn and Sutton Valance in Kent.

Leeds Castle is just a few miles from The Hideaway and is one of the most beautiful castles in Britain.

The gardens of Godinton House are also nearby; this is a superb ancient Jacobean house with medieval hall surrounded by twelve acres of restored gardens - even a tea room for your perfect day out in the country. Kent is famous for its wonderful gardens, living up to its name as The Garden of England.

The Pepper Box is a lovely rural country pub which dates from 1606. With a large garden and an excellent restaurant, serving delicious food and serving fine ales. You can take the bicycles and be here in no time.

For those wishing to make a day trip to France, Kent offers both the Eurostar Train at Ashford and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone which will transport you to a French location in 30 minutes.

For golfers this area has many options including the Weald of Kent Golf Course just 2 miles away. There are also lovely courses at Leeds Castle, Eastwell Manor, Chart Hills at Biddenden and further afield the links courses on the Kent coast.
