Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
The Fort Ebey Treehouse is an incredible and unique escape that invites you to relax and connect with nature without sacrificing any modern amenities. Nestled underneath towering Douglas Fir trees, this fully equipped tiny house in a tree provides amazing views of the lush forest and Lake Pondilla, along with immediate access to miles of mixed use trails and easy access to two beaches on the Admiralty Inlet.

The space
The 500 square foot treehouse was designed by Pete Nelson--renowned treehouse builder, owner of Treehouse Point, and star of the Treehouse Masters TV show. Construction was completed at the end of 2020 by the incomparable Nelson Treehouse & Supply crew and we are excited to share the Fort Ebey Treehouse experience with our guests.

The main floor of the treehouse contains an open kitchen and living room area, a table for four, a master bedroom, and a conventional bathroom with standing shower. The master bedroom contains a queen size bed and limited but sufficient storage space. A ship's ladder provides access to the loft area which contains a seating area and a television with limited programming. The couch in the loft easily converts to a comfortable double sized bed for a second sleeping area. High speed Wi-Fi throughout the treehouse and patio enables guests to stay connected access streaming services without limitations.

The tiny-house style kitchen is equipped with dishes and utensils for four and has the following appliances: a single burner convection cook top, an air fryer toaster oven, a microwave, and 6-quart InstaPot. A propane grill is also available on the patio; however, the propane fuel is provided on a best effort basis and is not guaranteed.

Unfortunately, the treehouse is not currently appropriate for or open to pets or children under the age of 12. Please contact the host if you would like further information.

The treehouse is diver friendly. Rinsing and drying space for equipment is available in the covered area under the treehouse platform. Please contact the host if you are a diver to coordinate the additional details.

Guest access
A keypad lock enables easy and contactless self check in.

The gravel road in front of the property provides space for up to two vehicles to park on the shoulder. Due to the unique nature of the location, accessing the treehouse requires going up and down several flights of stairs. Unfortunately, people with mobility issues may not be able to stay at this location.

Additionally, the loft area, which includes the TV and second sleeping space, is accessible by a ship's ladder. People uncomfortable going up and down a ladder will not be able to access this floor and its amenities.

Other things to note
The structure is solely supported by living trees which are active in the wind. Consequently, the treehouse will shift or sway on windy days. While the motion is not pronounced, people who are highly susceptible to motion sickness may not be comfortable at this location. Contact the owners before booking if you have additional questions.

For liability reasons, children under 12 and pets are are not permitted. The owner's pet occasionally stops by the treehouse, so the treehouse will not be a good option for guests with severe pet allergies.

U.S. Navy jets from nearby Naval Air Station Whidbey Island may fly over the area at any time for several hours. The noise impact of the flyovers at the treehouse is minor, but noticeable. Contact the owners for information on the flight schedule.

Neighborhood highlights

The treehouse is on the edge of Fort Ebey State Park. Access to the park's Pacific Northwest Trail (P.N.T.) is just past the parking area and loops around Pondilla Lake and along the bluff overlooking Admiralty Inlet. Several other trails that are part of the 35 miles of Kettle Trail system are within a 5 minute walk of the treehouse. The Point Partridge beach area and picnic shelter are a simple 10 minute walk away, with the old fort's gun battery just a 20 minute walk away. Outside of the park, Libby Beach is a 10 minute walk away.

Please note: The treehouse seems to be much cooler than other parts of Whidbey and Washington. This makes the treehouse a fantastic escape from the heat; but, it means guests should prepare for an evening chill. We recommend bringing at least one long sleeve shirt and light jacket, just t be safe.
