About this listing
This classic French-style apartment is located on a quiet, tree-lined street but yet is just one block away from the Plaza Intendente Alvear, which faces the famous Recoleta Cemetary and Recoleta Cultural Center. Just around the corner is the classic luxe hotel, the Alvear Palace Hotel, and other posh hotels and shopping venues are all within a stone's throw. Upscale shops, restaurants both grand and intimate, and a walker's paradise are just outside your door. Recoleta is considered one of the more affluent and safe neighborhoods in BA, and is both historic and filled with architectural gems. It is also a fantastic location to take in the daytime cafe scene or the more lively after dark nightlife.
Centrally located, it is great base of operations that affords easy access to all of the other great neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, including Palermo, Plaza San Martin, Las Canitas, San Telmo, and Puerto Madero. The main train station and ferry terminal are both relatively close (20 minutes by foot), and Newberry Airport for domestic flights is also close at hand (a short taxi ride).
The high ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors give the apartment a spacious feel, while the solid stone walls provide seclusion and sanctuary (super light sleepers please note that some street noise filters through the bedroom windows). The vintage styling of the Otis elevator make every entrance and exit a throwback to a different era. It is located on the 3rd floor (equivalent to the 4th floor in the US, since there is also the "ground floor" in the lobby). Entertain newfound friends in the living room and dining room... or just walk out your door to wander the sidewalks of Recoleta and beyond.
The wireless internet connection is very fast - 6+ Mbps. I once had a group of IT professionals rent the apartment while attending a conference, and they had no connectivity issues at all, even with all of them working simultaneously. I recently added a wall-mounted 32" flat-screen TV in the TV room, and an Apple TV device is available upon advance request.
The two bedrooms are set up with two different configurations:
1) A "Master" Bedroom with a King size bed - perfect for a couple or for the solo traveler who likes to spread out in comfort. There is a ceiling fan that can be used during warmer months.
2) The second bedroom has two twin beds that can be used separately (great for kids or for folks who don't mind sharing a room) or can be pushed together to create a larger bed for a couple, etc. However, the pushed together mode will still have a crease between the two mattresses, so please keep this mind. There is also a ceiling fan in this room for use during warmer months.
The kitchen and dining room make it easy to enjoy home-cooked meals (and a nice bottle of Malbec!) on those nights when you want to stay in. And for folks staying longer periods, or passing through as part of longer journeys, there is a washer (but no dryer!) located in the building for the exclusive use of guests at this apartment.
If you are considering staying in Buenos Aires for an extended period, 3 weeks or longer, please inquire about possible additional long-term discounts!
Check-in and check-out will be handled by my local property managers. They will get you situated upon your arrival at the apartment, complete a rental contract, conduct a quick check-in process, hand over a set of keys, and take a cash security deposit. Please see below about early or late check-in or checkout fees.
The security deposit is for potential damages, broken or missing items, etc. The standard deposit is a minimum $400 but can range up to 25% of the total cost of the stay. Our local representative will collect the cash deposit during the check-in and process and will return the cash deposit, assuming no damages or broken items, upon checkout. Any new damages or missing items discovered at time of checkout will be valued and deducted from the security deposit.
Late or Early Check-in / Checkout fees: please pay close attention to our standard times of operation, as extra fees will be assessed if your travel itinerary requires early or late check-in or checkout to occur. Standard hours are from 8 AM to 9 PM. Anything before or after these times must be coordinated in advance and will be subject to an extra US$10 for every 20 minutes. For example, a 9:30 PM check-in will result in an extra US$20, a 10:30 PM check-in will cost an extra US$50, etc. Super late check-ins may not be possible, and we may suggest that you spend the first night in a hotel in these cases.
Before you arrive in Buenos Aires, we will need some additional information from renters to complete the contract: Complete name, passport number, and permanent address, etc. A full "information sheet" will be emailed to guests following a successful reservation and must be completed prior to arrival.
I am relatively flexible about checkout times, as I know that many outbound international flights leave in the evening. However, in cases when Guests are departing later in the day, it may occasionally be necessary for you to accommodate my maid service on your departure day so that they can clean the apartment, handle laundry, and otherwise prepare the apartment for the next Guest. I do not charge for checkouts that occur in the afternoon or early evening of your departure date, but I do expect your understanding and assistance in minimizing the "downtime" between guests. Thank you!!
The most important house rule of all: embrace and experience the amazing city and people of Buenos Aires to the fullest! It is a wonderful City filled with great people, so I hope you have a phenomenal visit.
The apartment was great. Spacious, comfortable and centrally located. There are some great restaurants close by - and a wash and fold, same-day laundry is right around he corner. A very convenient place to exchange money is right across the street.
Chris provided a lot of helpful information before we travelled. His agent, Cecilia, was prompt and helpful.
The apartment was in a wonderful part of town and walkable distance from many restaurants and sites. The host provided helpful tips and written guides to the area before arriving. The apartment itself was roomy, light, and pleasant.
If you're planning a trip to BA, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
We (two coworkers and myself) stayed a fabulous month in Chris' apartment, working remotely and enjoying what we now know to be the most beautiful city in the world.
Recoleta is easily the nicest (and safest) spot in BA, and when we thought about the nightly rate we were paying to stay there, we were almost embarrassed, like a bunch of impoverished orphans who had somehow snuck past the guards. In retrospect, we would have happily paid 3x the price for the chance to stay there alone.
But, it's not just the apartment that's lovely. Chris and his onsite manager Cecilia were the most gracious and responsive hosts I've ever encountered in my Airbnbing. They gave us valuable advice before arrival, arranged our airport transfers, and any question or issue we encountered during our stay was handled immediately.
On our first night, we stumbled across Prado y Neptuno, a cigar and cocktail bar located half a block away, and we ended up dropping by most nights for the best made cocktails we've ever had. Ever.
We left our hearts in BA, and if we're ever lucky enough to return, this is the apartment and neighborhood we'll want to call home.
The apt is located in a very safe and clean neighborhood. Minutes away from a park and the famous Recoleta Cemetery. Cecilia and her daughter were great help when needed. We loved staying here for 10 days. Chris was also very easy to communicate. In a few words, lovely apartment managed very professionally.
My family and I travel to Buenos Aires every year or two as my wife is from there and we visit as often as we can. After years of staying in hotels and apartments in Recoleta, our favourite part of the city, I can without a doubt say that this apartment was one of the best experiences we have had. The location is phenomenal, being just a few blocks from the main park, cathedral and cemetery in Recoleta. The unit was very clean and well kept with more than enough space for myself, my wife and my children. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, which was very nice as we had just gone through a 14 hour flight, and check in was simple and effortless. They even called to check up on us during our stay and were there promptly with a taxi for us when it was time to go. All the amenities you could need are located nearby and the restaurants on the street (Fervor, Sanjuanino) were excellent.
Chris was very easy to deal with from the beginning and very helpful even before we arrived. Cecilia and her team were very well prepared and friendly once we were there and by far it was the best experience we have had when finding a place to stay in BA. I will recommend Chris and his apartment to all of my friends and family when staying in BA and will be back here every time we come to BA from now on.
The flat is perfectly located in a beautiful and upscale area. It is very modern, elegant and beautiful. It is extremely clean and spacious. A lot of interesting books in the shells. The handling agents were very attentive and helpful. It was very pleasant to deal with Chris. The only thing I thought was unfortunate was that there is not much daylight coming into the living room, but on the other hand there is much light and windows everywhere else.
Tivemos uma estadia muito agradável no (website hidden) chegada nosso anfitrião nos brindou com um delicioso vinho ( Obrigada !!! ) Realmente nada temos do que reclamar, somente elogios. Tudo deu certo desde o check-in até o checkout. E o bairro é maravilhoso, assim como a rua Posadas muito bem localizada no bairro e com supermercados, restaurantes e panificadoras tudo pertinho!Recomendo !

About the Host, Chris
I enjoy exploring the far corners of the Earth and getting to know local people and other travelers along the way. Getting the "local" experience is a lot harder than it sounds, but always worth it. Food, music, sport, and tradition add to the mix.
