I'm only listing as I'm traveling a lot. I looked at other listings and made this biggest steal given the location which is literally the center of Manhattan (Midtown 47th Street between 5 & 6 Avenue).
This is a full size studio apartment of roughly 500 sq ft, with a queen size bed, dining table, couch (convertible into a futon bed), coffee table, 47" LED back-lit flat screen TV, full size fridge, very well equipped kitchen, Nestlé Nespresso machine, bathroom, cable TV, WiFi, Netflix, heating, air conditioning and basic supplies.
The building is well secured, with doorman and 2 elevators. The first 11 floors are offices with the top 2 floors converted into apartments. You will be staying on the 12th Floor. It comfortably hosts 2 people, and with the couch it is totally possible to have 1-2 additional guests.
In terms of location, there is nothing more convenient than this apartment. Literally 15 steps away from the Rockefeller Center subway station (B D F M line), a block away from Rockefeller Center, a block away from Radio City Music Hall, a block away from Times Square, a block away from 5th Avenue shopping district, 5 blocks from Bryant Park and 5 blocks from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Most other attractions and restaurants for good food are also within walking distance. Carnegie Hall is 10 blocks away, Japan Town is 5 blocks away, while Korea Town is 15 blocks away. Each block takes around 1 minute walking distance.
For transportation, the B D F or M lines basically can get you anywhere. The N Q and R line stop is a block away if you are riding along the Broadway line, while the 4 5 6 train station is 3 blocks away if you're going to the East side. Given its proximity to Time Square and Penn Station, there is basically nowhere you'll not be able to get to from this location.
I can also give you personalized recommendations for attractions and restaurants depending on how much time you'd like to spend in the city.
P.S. Beware most other midtown listings are at least 2-3 avenues away from the closest subway station, which means a 15-minute walk. Also if you end up choosing other apartments, make sure the building has elevators, and is not too noisy at night.
Reserve early and I can give you better discounts.
Great host - quick at responding to messages. Comfortable apartment with a lot of space and convenient location.
The apartment is in a great location, as long a you don't mind being hit up to buy or sell diamonds pretty much every time you go outside. This building is smack in the middle of Manhattan's one block diamond district. Otherwise, the location is very convenient to many midtown amenities.
Ray was a great host who went out of his way to help us. The apartment was great and gave us extra space and a location that we would not otherwise have found in our budget. We would definitely stay again.
Jays place is perfectly located. A few feet from the subway and a short stroll to Broadway, Times Square, moma and the Rockefeller center. It's incredibly reasonably priced for the location. Jay was very communicative and helpful.
Five Stars for Location, Five Stars for Communication, HOWEVER... The apartment has clearly not been cleaned in months; don't look under the bed or behind the TV and DO NOT look in the microwave. I can ignore the peeling paint, the plastic and cotton bags stuffed either size of the AC unit to keep the cold or heat out, the single-ply toilet paper, the lack of water pressure, Ray's disdain for the management of the building "ignore the doorman....they aren't friendly" and GF Irina's total ignorance of the condition of the apartment that she is managing "not completely familiar with that apartment" even though it's not even 400ftsq and she declared she lives in the building, stating "i had done a spot check and it looked OK." BUT, i can't accept the towels, all of which smelled of someone else's scent, the missing bottom sheet exposing a mattress 'pad' covered in long hairs, a double size crusty top-sheet on a queen mattress, a double bed duvet cover that carried remnants of previous guests and Irina's promise to be back at 1am with a clean bottom sheet. One night the half-slats under the bed gave finally way and the mattress ended up on the floor - we rebuilt the bed but the same thing happened the following night - the half-slats aren't strong enough to support a queen mattress. Like a prior guests commented, the bed needs to be changed - Ray said it was," I have replaced the bed entirely with a new one" but since this is not a new bed by any stretch of the imagination, i'm guessing it wasn't. If this is the level of cleanliness that is comfortable to Ray, Irina and the cleaner (Irina at a wild guess), then I don't think that additional visits by anyone in this party will accomplish very much. Words of ADVICE to future guests; bring your own linens. Words of ADVICE to the host; Airbnb is not just about the money! Airbnb is a community - take pride in the accommodation that you offer and understand that you are offering a service that is a reflection of your standards of cleanliness and the way you run a business. Enjoy being a host and instead of counting the money, count the stars awarded by your guests and open an LLC so you can pay your vacation rental taxes. Tack the internet cable around the bathroom door before someone trips on it, discloses that you don't have renters insurance, reports you to the City for illegally renting an apartment on the 12th floor of 55W 47th Street and you have to say goodbye to $3,000/m. Do this for your own sense of worth Ray and be proud of establishing another income source, but do it the right way, in so doing, inspire others, defend the rights of the people against the Corporate odds and let's rebuild the economy for the people? We can do it with airbnb, UBER, LYFT and the...
Very disappointed to see dishonest guests leaving these comments. Based on the reviews I've read on Marc and Fay's profile I only accepted their reservation request under the assumption they were just like other nice guests I've had but I guess there are always outliers in this system.
Truth is Marc and Fay could've reached out to me upon checking-in with all their possible issues and complains but they didn't. Had they done it, I'd have sent another cleaner to resolve all issues so it really frustrates me to see bad behavior these guests. Guests according to Airbnb policy can also request last minute accommodation changes and for whatever reason, these guests didn't do so either.
Whether they were having a bad day, or were trying to extort refunds or travel credits from the Airbnb system is beyond me. For other guests' future references, if anything does not live up to your satisfaction, I'm always available for help.
