About this listing
Imagine your feet on yonder cushion, eyes closed, basking in the dulcet tones of Duke Ellington on vinyl. It can be more than a dream. It can be real. Rent me, won't you?
Be in the center of not just San Francisco, but uber-trendy Hayes Valley. You'll be a block away from dreamy boutiques, remarkably expensive shoes, renowned restaurants, and an over-abundance of delicious coffee. Grab a cappuccino from Blue Bottle or Ritual and chuckle at dogs in the park; bundle up and drink at the Suppenkuche beer garden; order the Roast Chicken from Zuni, witness our world-class ballet, opera, or symphony--all just around the corner.
I've lived in San Francisco for 10+ years, and if I were to recommend a single jumping-off point for an SF visitor--especially one looking to escape the tourist traps--it'd be Hayes Valley. Plenty to do walking distance (the mission/Civic Center/lower Haight...all close), and just a few blocks from the Civic Center BART/Muni station, several important bus lines, parks, and more...
Oh, and the apartment...cozy, hip, and well stocked. A lot of mid-century furniture, incredible tube hi-fi stereo w/ turntable and record collection, tempurpedic mattress, infinite hot water and high pressure in the shower, full kitchen, microwave, dishwasher, high-speed wifi, parking garage across the street, safe and secure building...
It is the ultimate public transit locale. BART, Muni, the F Market, and multiple buses converge here. It is a really convenient location.
It's definitely currently leading the race for hipness/trendiness in San Francisco. Which is definitely saying something.
Just be cool. Golden rule and what not. I've got stuff in there; it's still my home, and I don't feel like screwing everything down.
Be extra nice to my neighbors. This all operates under the assumption that they'll barely notice you're there. As cool as I'm sure you are, people can get a little weird when there's strangers in and out of the building. Never had a problem, but just be cool. And if they ask why you're there *won't happen* just say you're a friend of mine.
But especially, again...be nice to my stuff. Also, enjoy it. I mean, it's just stuff after all.
Musicians...look! Your very own desk. Your very own set of Mackie near-fields. Your very own Tube Tech MEC-1A! (Ok, definitely not yours...I mean...it's mine...but you can pretend for the week or whatever)
About the Host, Jonathan
I'm a musician. It's always been the center of my universe; the thing I'm most naturally drawn toward. I'm also a writer, the former editor of Bass Player Magazine. What else...I love the city, and know it well...so truly good local tips, if desired, come with the price of admission.
