Private Entrance Room & Bath

House - Private room · Merion Ave, Haddonfield, NJ 08033, United States

The Space

The house is located in lovely Haddonfield and is only 15 minutes from Philadelphia by car and 25 minutes using the PATCO train ((email hidden)/). It's also easy to catch a bus/train to NY from our location!

We offer an immaculate private room and bath with your own entrance in a charming 1920's home. Haddonfield has everything (restaurants, groceries, cafes, parks) within walking distance...including easy public transportation to Philadelphia.

You will have the second floor of the house all to yourself.
The large, sunny bedroom has a king-size bed with lots of pillows and 100% cotton sheets. For your peace of mind, the pillows, mattress and box spring are encased in protect-a-bed allergy/bed bug proof covers. There is a desk and a comfortable chair for reading.

We want our guests to be comfortable! The house has central air and heat but we also offer a ceiling fan, an additional AC unit, a window fan, an electric blanket, and an extra heater in your room.

The floor is painted wood with throw rugs so it is easy to clean. If you need to work, there is a desk, a comfortable chair and free wireless internet service. No TV, but if you want to stay in, just ask to borrow a portable DVD player and choose a DVD from our collection.

There are two large empty wardrobes with full-length mirrors, drawers, and hangers to help you keep your stuff neat and organized.

The "pretty in pink" bathroom has a handheld shower, plenty of hot water, and creates the perfect environment for a soak in the tub. Candles are included!

You will also have the convenience of a microwave and mini-fridge. The "kitchenette" is stocked with paper plates, paper towels, cups, a corkscrew, and tableware.

In the morning, depending on schedules, we might see you for coffee/tea - always available - in the downstairs kitchen. This is a bright, shared space with island seating where we often meet guests to help with directions or touring itineraries. Want to cook? We will show you around the spices and pans!

In nice weather, enjoy the sounds of nature on our secluded patio. Read a book or have an outdoor meal. In the evening, relax in the backyard hammock and look at the stars.

Thanks to the PATCO train, you can explore both sides of the river, even if you don't have a car. On the New Jersey side, walk to Haddonfield or Westmont and choose from over 20 restaurants or hop on Patco and in 5 minutes you are in Collingswood where you will find more boutique shops and restaurants. Then on to Philly...explore Rittenhouse Square (16th street stop), the heart of Philadelphia, with countless 5 star restaurants within four square blocks. Or take Patco to Old City (8th street stop) and walk Market street to the river to experience Old City, the Liberty Bell and Constitution Center and more great restaurants.

And when your day is done , you can return to the tree lined streets of lovely Haddonfield and your peaceful haven at 212.

P.S. We have an eight pound Chiweenie (Chihuahua and Dachsund) named Jackson. He enjoys company too, and if you have a small dog (under 10 lbs.), he/she is welcome. (Sorry, we are allergic to cats.)

  • I loved Ann and enjoyed staying at her home for the most part. Her home is spotless and has all the necessities as well as plenty of closet space. The location is perfect and I was able to walk to explore downtown Haddonfield, which is a very clean and quaint town with awesome shops! I walked to take the train to downtown Philly to meet up with family. Also, it was only a 10 minute drive for my sister and/or nephew to pick me up. I was there a week for my nephew's wedding. The only negative I have is that John seemed to blame me for a plumbing issue that occurred during my stay. This gave me some unneeded stress and an uncomfortable feeling while there. If not for that issue, everything else was good.

  • I am in the process of moving to Philadelphia and staying in temporary housing until we can move into a house. So I need a few weeks, not just a couple of nights. Ann is perfectly set up for this. The guest has a private entrance and bath, a very comfortable room, Wi-Fi and a desk for working, plenty of closet space, and full use of a well-equipped kitchen and laundry facilities. Haddonfield is a nice town, and the house is a few minutes' drive from a PATCO station, where you can park all day for a dollar and ride the train into the city for $5.20 -- round trip! (Amazingly cheap compared to the Metro back home in DC.) Ann and John are enjoyable people as well as being most accommodating. This has been a great solution for me. Thanks, Ann!

  • Great room and privacy. Clean and lots of light. Rockwell-ish neighborhood, safe, lots of nice people walking around. 2 blocks from a good coffee shop and a little further, in either direction, lots of shops, and local restaurants. Ann is accommodating and helpful.

  • I had a great experience staying at this location. Ann and John were very sweet and nice. Their private bedroom and entrance was just what I needed. If you are ever in this area, I so recommend staying here. There is also a cool coffee shop and pizza place right around the corner.

  • Ann and John have an exquisite home and are lovely and helpful people. They have a mini fridge and microwave next to the bedroom and have provided for every possible need as a guest. This is the perfect stay for a visit to Philadelphia. The town of Haddonfield is very charming as well.

  • Ann and her husband John were looking after every need I had. The room and the bathroom were very clean and they provide every little detail you might have forgotten at home like hairdryer, Shampoo etc. They were really very caring but also respected my need for privacy. I can highly recommend this Appt. For me it was a home away from home and I will surely come back.

  • We didn't meet Ann this time as she was on a trip but her housekeeper, Magge, looked after us very well. The bedroom was extremely comfortable and the bathroom spacious and well heated. The shared kitchen is very well designed and equipped. The house is situated in a very nice neighbourhood. We would certainly plan to stay here again. Brenda and Ray

  • Two of the best people and one of the best places to stay EVER, especially for nice people with an artistic bent! Clean, cozy and always reliable! Stay here!

  • Ann offers a delightful and nurturing space to stay on the second floor of their home with a private entrance. I found it clean and inviting. As it was my first Air BNB experience, I can't compare it but I can highly recommend it with no hesitation!

About
Hello! Thank you for visiting our listing! John and I are a recently retired couple - him...a photojournalist - me...a teacher. We enjoy meeting new people and are having great fun hosting Airbnb guests. We love living in Haddonfield and after we retired, renovated our house to create a private upstairs suite for visitors. Airbnb arrived just in time for our little business! When we are at home, we enjoy working on "this old house," gardening, hiking nearby Hopkins Pond and Cooper River with our dog, Jackson, visiting the library, going to movies, dining at local restaurants, and window shopping in Haddonfield's town center. For a change of pace we hop on Patco to Philadelphia. We love the Reading Terminal Market for lunch (8th Street/Patco), Old City Market Street for restaurants and gallery browsing (8th Street/Patco), and Rittenhouse Square for drinks and dinner (16th and Locust/Patco). Philly Museums are a walk or taxi, depending on your preference, from 16th street too. We also take advantage of free concerts (student recitals) at Curtis Institute of Music (16th and Locust/Patco). We enjoy traveling too, but Haddonfield is such a great location...a peaceful, walkable village within 15 minutes of the bustling city, and now that the world comes to us through Airbnb, we are very content nesting at home.
