"Romantic location and incredible wildlife”
La Palapa was full when we tried to book, but we manage to get a Villa when we decided just to visit the resort when we went passed Portalon. We had the luck that the resort had a cancellation. We stayed seven nights because was so nice instead of the two nights we had planned to stay in the region which was perfect. The ocean and Playa Linda the most pristine beach of the area is just a few minutes drive from La Palapa made us feel in paradise with no one around as if the beach belonged to us, too beautiful to be real. One day there were six white faced monkeys to greet us on the beach that one have to look up or you might miss them. Amazing diversity of birds and wildlife. like toucans, parrots and many other birds are around the resort all day with their spectacular sunset and show of sounds that one cannot miss. Ask Cristina – the owner any question or advice about the tours you want to participate that she will give you all the help you need. There is a well kept swimming surrounded by remarkable well kept tropical gardens always with sounds of the birds and other animals of the rainforest that makes you feel away from or modern world back home. Around the resort there are many hike trails for one to discover beauties of the rainforest. We went in early June beginning of the green season and there were no biting bugs, just lovely cool breezes and heavy tropical showers for minutes that refreshes the atmosphere, and we love it. La Palapa has a great location to go everywhere: Zipline, Rafting, Bird watching, Wildlife tours, and explore the more rustic mountain areas near the resort with a special guide that takes you to a water fall for a fantastic swim. The resort also has mountain bicycles to rent for a very low price, where we could enjoy the area and meet the local population, and even go to the Matapalo Beach, see a fisherman caching an enormous fish. After sitting around in the forest watching the monkeys in the wild for hours here, it was a letdown going to the overpriced crowded Manuel Antonio area with its monkeys used to tourists though the beach is calm and fantastic there which made it worth it. This is the real Costa Rica you've dreamed of, don't miss La Palapa Ecolodge Resort.
Our airy bungalows are painted with warm colors and decorated with unique original objects imported from North and Southern Africa, to create a very warm and special atmosphere. All are non-smoking, have very comfortable beds, ceiling fans, private terrace with bamboo table and chairs, cool tiled floors, private bathroom with hot shower, large furnished living room with an extra bed, fitted kitchen with refrigerator and screened windows that let in gentle breezes and melodic sounds from the jungle as you fall asleep.
The La Palapa Resort is considered one of the most beautiful and well kept in, Quepos - Manuel Antonio – Matapalo - Dominical and Uvita area, with grounds and tropical gardens beautifully maintained and clean, by dedicated staff that deliver the best service every day.
The La Palapa Ecolodge Resort was built inside a rainforest were Toucans like to nest and wake you up every morning.
Drive 15 minutes South of Quepos on the Costanera road to Dominical, turn left to the town of Portalon, and the resort is 600 meters on your right.
Paradise is way from civilization but with excellent roads to drive and get away from the confusion of the modern world . . . come over and experience the sounds of wildlife in a “real” tropical rainforest.
The grounds of La Palapa are wonderfully kept and the staff is friendly. There are all kinds of trails throughout the grounds. The pool is wonderful and refreshing.
The breakfast is great in the morning and although we didnt eat any dinners at the restaurant, it always smelled delicious.
The owner gave us some great tips on spots to check out. He was also able to accommodate an extra day stay. Although everything was beautiful I think this resort is more suited to older individuals or those wanting to be away from it all. There was not much area for having drinks and socializing with other people on the resort. Since we have a baby we have to stay close by early in the evening. Overall, the resort was beautiful and our room was lovely and clean.
