The Canyon Casita is located 10 miles northwest of downtown Alpine. The Casita offers a quiet and comfortable space to enjoy all that the high desert has to offer - immersive mountain views, dark skies, brilliant sunrises and sunsets, wildlife and the gentle sounds of nature. Birders welcome! We keep the feeders and water filled year round and enjoy a variety of native and migratory visitors. The Canyon Casita is centrally located to the vast offerings of the Trans-Pecos region.

The space
The Canyon Casita offers modern conveniences with naturally vintage touches.

SLEEP
There is one private bedroom with a king sized bed fit with cozy linens and night stands with convenience outlets. An oversized window allows you to watch the sunrise and stargaze at night - all from the comfort of your bed! It also serves as an excellent bird blind during the day, with stocked feeders and bath. The bedroom has its own split unit for ultimate comfort.

RELAX
Flooded with natural light, the living room features plants and vintage furnishings, making it a great area to relax after a long day of exploring. A selection of books, games and puzzles are available for your use. Connect to the bluetooth speaker and enjoy your own tunes. The dining table serves as a comfortable place to dine, work, or game.

DINE
You’ll find everything you need to cook a meal or simply enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Single serve and French press available with local grounds. We offer dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, along with simple spices and oils.

REFRESH
We provide towels, basic toiletries, and a hair dryer. There’s no getting around the fact that the bathroom is efficient. The shower stall is small but gets the job done.

OUTDOOR
The front porch offers a great place to sip coffee in the morning, watch the sunset in the evening, and stargaze at night. There is a dining table and chairs and a charcoal grill available upon request. You are also welcome to explore the five acre property.

Other things to note
CONNECTIVITY
You probably won't have cell signal here, so you’ll need to enable wi-fi calling on your phone if you’d like to stay connected to the outside world. Internet connectivity has greatly improved out here, but it is not 100% reliable against high winds and inclement weather. Connection speeds are great for Zoom and other video calls.

WILDLIFE
We are fortunate to share our home with lots of wildlife. It is likely you will encounter several desert dwellers during your stay. This can include potentially harmful/venomous species such as snakes, spiders, and scorpions along with larger animals such as aoudad and javelinas. We ask that you respect them, keep your distance, and do not feed them. Please keep this in mind when considering a stay.
