The Cook Creek Cabin is located in the Six Rivers National Forest Area, a rural and lightly populated area making it ideal for social distancing. The cabin is private, clean, and cozy. The home is located in a tranquil, serene forest setting with a year-round babbling creek running through the property. You can open the bedroom windows on warm nights and fall asleep to the sound of the cascading waters. We hope you find it a relaxing and comfortable get-away where you can make yourself at home.

The space
The cabin is approximately 1,100 sq. ft. It will sleep 6 guests comfortably with a full size bed in one bedroom and a queen bed and a futon that opens to a small double bed in the second bedroom. The livingroom provides a great space to relax with a sectional sofa and a reclining love seat, a flat screen TV with ROKU. There is also a second TV in the first bedroom that has ROKU for programming. In addition, a variety of books and games are also provided for your enjoyment.

The kitchen is fully equipped, minus a dishwasher, with complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate. You also have access to covered parking in the 2-car carport.

Enjoy the outdoors on a large deck in the back of the cabin equipped with a charcoal BBQ, a fish cleaning station and plenty of seating for entertaining. Build a fire in the nearby fire pit (fire permits are issued at the Visitor Center in nearby Hiouchi), hang out alongside the beautiful creek or explore the property, which backs up to property belonging to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

Please note that the creek has a steep bank and the property is not fenced, and while we welcome families, young children must be closely supervised.

Gasquet, California, United States

Gasquet, California, United States
The cabin is well situated close to scenic Highway 199, 16 miles northeast of the Crescent City coast and 4.5 miles southwest of the center of Gasquet. Gasquet is a small town often referred to as “Sunny Gasquet” where Crescent City locals often go to escape the coastal fog. It is a scenic location near the old growth redwood forest with many trails and the Smith River, which is the heart of the Smith River National Recreational Area where you can explore over 3,000 acres, with opportunities for swimming, fishing, white water rafting and kayaking. It is a free flowing river - without a dam along its entire length - and is especially prized among conservationists and is considered one of the Crown Jewels of the National Wild and Scenic River programs. The river is most known for its runs of Chinook salmon, coastal cutthroat trout, steelhead and coho salmon, but is also home to sculpin, green sturgeon, white sturgeon, brook lamprey, Pacific lamprey, American shad and chum salmon. The Smith has been a popular destination for sportsmen for many generations. It is one of the cleanest rivers in the world.

The Mary Peacock Bridge that overlooks the Smith River and provides a view of the outlet from Cook Creek is about a 5 minute walk from the cabin. It is just 7 miles from the entrance to the Jedediah Smith State Park and only 5 miles from the Highway 199 entrance to the scenic Memorial Stout Grove, which is arguably the most scenic grove in the park.

There is much to see and do in the area, so be sure to stop by the Hiouchi Visitor Center during your stay!
