The Space

Our House offers a very spacious apartment near the center of the city.

The House is an example of a Queen Anne Victorian two-story house built in San Diego in 1889. We converted one level of the house as a vacation rental.

Sherman Heights is the Historical Heart of San Diego's beginning. Many beautiful homes from the end of the century can be seen throughout the area.

The two bedroom apartment offers the comfort of a hotel and the individuality of a BnB. The apartments is on second floor therefore there are stairs. The place is fully equipped and has its private entrance, a spacious living area, two conected bedrooms and its own bathroom.

Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed, Bedroom 2 full size.
The two bedrooms connect to one another and you need to pass through both to bathroom, so privacy may be an issue if you are with other people rather than family. There is also a large couch in the living room, TV and free WiFi.
The apartment has a full kitchen and the bathroom has a tub.

This house can be your home away from home!!!

Parking is free on street.
View of Downtown San Diego from the unit !!!

The entire unit is about 680 sq.feet (65 sq. meters).

We are a few block east of downtown San Diego and a 5 minute drive (or a 5 minute cab ride) from the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter (on 5th street) where you will find restaurants, coffee houses, bars, and nightclubs. We minutes away from the Petco Park, the new Baseball Stadium and the Convention Center.

The House is 10 minutes drive from the Airport and the Santa Fe Train Station.

  • Absolutely loved the stay at the Stuyck house! great neighborhood, easy access to downtown and other locations.

  • We had a great stay. The apartment is nice and spacious with a full kitchen. The bathroom is at the back of the apartment so you have to go through the second bedroom to get to it, but that was a non issue. Rene lives downstairs so you can easily contact him if you need anything. He was great at recommending things to do and see. The location is great too, with just a few minute drive to Gaslamp or the Zoo. There was also plenty of parking right in front of the house. It was a great place and we would stay there again.

  • Rene is a great host, the house is in a perfect space and very big. When I will be back in town I will stay here again.

  • Rene was polite and helpful in answering some questions I had about getting around. He was also kind to leave complementary Milk, Bottled Water, and Juice in the fridge. That was nice since I like to eat in when I travel and people checking in late would have at least something to drink. The place was a bit older than I expected but it was quaint and well kept. If I remember correctly it had a plaque on the front of the house recognizing it as a historic house. Also to get to the one bathroom you need to walk from one bedroom through another. My coworker and I really didn't mind as we expected an old house to have its own little quirks. The neighborhood understandably is older as well but I was not worried about safety or anything like that. I enjoyed this location since going to work in the morning on Coronado Island and going to Gold’s Gym after work from the house was always opposite traffic. The peppermint tea shampoo and body wash was a nice touch. Tingly! I would stay here again if I had to come back to San Diego with a coworker.

  • We had a great stay in Rene's apartment! It has high ceilings and tons of windows, so feels very spacious and bright. The beds are really comfortable, and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Rene himself is really helpful and easy to communicate with. I'd definitely stay here again!

  • Nice and large place to stay, near to Gaslamp in a beautiful historic house. Very clean and cosy.
Rene & partner was so friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to stay in your place and a pity to go but if we come back to San Diego you will definitely be our host again. Many thanks Rene, hope to see you soon.

  • This home was in a perfect area close to Downtown San Diego Gaslamp District and we were able to walk to and from without any issues. Near the market store and airport, very convenient for this trip so much so we did not even need a car. This home was so perfect for our needs, it was clean, we felt right at home even in the kitchen, the décor was quaint and I would stay here again. Rene did everything in a timely manner and is a great host.

  • Rene warmly welcomed us as we arived. He was helpful and open. From the beginning we felt like at home. We reached the apartment via small stairs in the first floor. The first impression was great and fully met our expectations and the description on airbnb.
There was plenty of room with a nice and warm atmosphere. We entered the apartment through a small kitchen into the living room. From there you go into the master bedroom followed by a smaller bedroom with garden view. The last room is the bath with shower in the bathtub. We did not miss anything.

Rene offered milk, juice and coffee in the kitchen-so we could easily start our day.

The house is a little bit outside of downtown but still walking distance (20 min,16 Blocks from 21st to 5th). You can also take a bus which stops nearby.

Whenever we come again to San Diego we will stay there again.

  • Rene's place is gorgeous, spacious and clean! We loved staying in the Victorian, and the location couldn't have been better situated to all the main San Diego attractions. Rene was a great host, the milk, orange juice and water in the fridge are a great tough upon arrival. He provided towels, and fresh linens and both beds where very comfortable. There is a Walmart market at the end of the street (walking distance) for groceries. The neighbourhood is safe, we felt very safe. Also Rene has leaflets of many attractions in his place, which have us suggestions on where to visit! We would definitely stay again!!

  • Staying at Rene's beautiful home was the best decision we made when we went to San Diego. Our suite had a private entrance, the home and grounds were beautiful, and we were both provided with keys.

Rene goes above and beyond for his guests. He fixed my bike chain without being asked and even left fresh milk and OJ for us. The place was clean and neat, towels and linens were provided, and the beds were very comfortable.

Rene even drove us to the airport on the last day of our stay and refused a tip for this above average service.

I could not have had better service at the world's finest hotel. I'm thrilled with this experience - Rene belongs on a list of the best of air bnb!
