The Space

Hostel Earphoria is a unique guesthouse in Logan Square Chicago, specifically designed for musicians. We have transformed an entire house into an urban rest stop for musicians on the road, giving them a space to stay, play, practice, record, collaborate and perform.

Hostel Earphoria is a single family home with 10 (website hidden) spaces, 5 private rooms and one bathroom. There is a community kitchen, living room, dining area, finished basement, back yard and deck.

Staying at Hostel Earphoria:
In addition to contacting us through Airbnb, we also request that introduce yourself to the community by posting a message on Hostel Earphoria's timeline on Mark Zuckerberg's popular social network. Tell us where you are from and what brings you to Chicago and when, how you are involved in music (we love audio-video links), and what you are looking forward to during your visit. We will reply promptly and let you know if we are able to accommodate your request. If you have a time sensitive request you may inquire via phone/text to Ben at (phone number hidden).

If you are looking for the formal experience you would enjoy in a hotel, Hostel Eaphoria is not for you. We are for those that are more "adventure travel" oriented, who want to learn about the communities they pass through and be a part of the real Chicago music scene.

Earphoria offers:
- Complimentary bread, milk, eggs and condiments
- Full Kitchen Access
- Linens and Towels
- Wi-Fi
- Free Washer and Dryer
- Family style breakfasts and dinners are often cooked by hosts, friends and guests of Hostel Earphoria. New guests are encouraged to participate.
- We ask that each host and guest contribute by doing a daily chore.
- There are two friendly cats, Eddie and Kabeer, that live in the house with us.
- Gated parking for $5/night
- Bike Rental $5/day

Hostel Earphoria offers several spaces for collaborating:

The Playroom
Featuring an upright antique piano, acoustic guitars and several percussion instruments and an iMac with Logic and Final Cut for audio/video recording/editing. The PLAYroom is the perfect space for low-fi jams and impromptu performances. You'll often find musicians jamming together or DJ-ing. For the visual artists, an easel and supplies is provided. Our walls are filled with paintings and drawings done by the community.

The Bassment
The basement is a multi-functional room that serves as a shared performance space, practice area, recording studio and sleeping space. It is set up like a lounge with a stage at back with 6 couches and a very comfortable giant bean bag. There are plush carpets on the floor which makes everything cozy. To the back there is a 30x10 carpeted floor stage with low 5.5 celling. Bands are welcome rent the Bassment for rehearsal from 12pm-10pm (no drums/base after 10pm on weeknights and 12am on weekends).

The Playground
Our lovely outdoor space in the back has a small deck and yard. There is a garden that provides the house with fresh vegetables. Hang in the hammock or sit in the grass. A small bungalow with seating under the deck surrounds an "easy to load gear in" entrance. Designated smoking areas away from our neighbors windows. This is open from 8am-12am on weeknights and 2am on weekends (no drums after 10pm).

Visiting Hostel Earphoria
Earphoria is a private space and quests must be invited to come in. We often have shows, usually every Saturday. Please take a look at our calendar and friend earphoria.earphoria on Mark Zuckerbergs popular social network so that we may invite you to future events.

  • My band and I, ATLAS AHEAD, stayed at Earphoria for two nights and it was an amazing experience. If you like a DIY feeling, a laid-back environment, and handmade music, then this is your place. There are always people around to chat or jam with. Everyone is helpful and open minded. Highly recommended. Thank you for everything!

  • Great place! we booked only 2 days before, and Jules made everything to let us stay even though Chicago was packed for the Lollapalooza festival. great pancakes in the morning and bbq at night! laid back people, lots of music instruments - banjo, guitars, piano...! recommended

  • Just delightful as always! Wonderful guests, wonderful host. But be a bit skeptical of the fridge. I think someone owes me a beer... :)

  • If you're looking for a place to crash that won't crash your budget, this is it. Jules and her housemates were welcoming and friendly, and other than a little hiccup of letting me back into the house (the door was unexpectedly locked, and I had to wait a bit to get back inside) everything went quite smoothly.

  • Hostel Earphoria is an amazing place and I am under a spell of this beautiful community. Everyone is so welcoming and easy-going, the hosts are great and gave me good advices for visiting the city. The neighborhood is awesome - Logan square - with a lot of nice cafes, and well connected to the Loop. I can only recommend this place, in particular for persons who appreciate community life!

  • Jules was a gracious host and great communicator. Her flexibility and patience dealing with our band's 1am arrival was much appreciated.

  • Had a really good experience at Earphoria - Everyone was really nice, and I really felt that I got closer to the 'real' Chicago than you would normally do as a tourist/backpacker.. Thanks :)

  • If you're looking to experience Chicago as a musician and prefer a more "local, true-DIY" style of traveling. Spend a night or two in charming Logan Square kicking it with all the folks at Hostel Earphoria... preferably on a summer weekend when your biggest headache is deciding on the seemingly endless options for fun & leisure lieterally a stone's throw away via the blue line or the basement of Earphoria where a show could be taking place!

If you require room service, face towels, and valet parking...
    look elsewhere

    Thank you Jules & co.

    Godspeed

  • The house was perfect for those on a tight budget who like to meet nice people. It was a great place for music and to hang out and relax after walking around the city. There are also plenty of things to do close by.
