Our stay at Mahona was excellent. The level of service, courtesy and attention by the owners themselves exceed by far what is offered in some of the most upscale hotels of the area. We felt as if we were staying with friends and relatives, and any special request was fulfilled immediately and efficiently. We appreciated, among others, Jacques' spot-on restaurant recomendations in the area, a late check-out with no additional cost, delicious breakfasts every morning, and small details such as the owners running behind us to lend us an umbrella one day we were leaving the hotel walking under the rain, or them offering us help parking our extra large SUV. The rooms are airy and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, this place has an unbeatable value for money and we will return in our next trip to Las Terrenas.

I think they made a mistake when they named this place. It should have been called The Most Delicious and Memorable Pineapple Jam B&B of the Caribbean. Véronique's fruit preserves are homemade, natural, and stunningly good. They are symbolic of the entire Mahona B&B experience. The acommodations are immaculate, simple, and comfortable. The grounds are intimate, with bungalows surrounding a small pool that casts appealing shades of blue throughout the day, whether under overcast skies, in full sunshine, or lit at night. Bungalow 5 has two separate bedrooms with a half bath in one and a full bath in the other. Amenities include a small refrigerator and a safe. Ceiling fans spin silently overhead. Outdoor patios face the central pool and gardens. King size beds provide comfort so profound that sleep happens in seconds. This place might also be called The Secret Garden B&B because the rooms, pool, and open air breakfast area are constructed in the midst of local flora, including small palms, flowers, and manicured grass. Occasionally, small creatures make an appearance on trees (an adorable green lizard), or in the grass (cautious brown snail). At night only the breeze and the faint sounds and chirps of friendly animals filter into the rooms. Véronique is quick to reply and facilitate the reservation process, and Jacques makes regular appearances throughout the day, whether it's preparing breakfast in the morning or attending to the needs of guests. The breakfasts at Mahona B&B are utterly homemade, simple, and exquisite. They are served well into the morning, and include fresh coffee, bread, delicately prepared (and carefully washed) tropical fruit, eggs (try Jacques' omelette), and of course Véronique's pineapple jam. Feel free to visit the kitchen area and coffee dispenser at 6:30 am to enjoy the bliss of silent mornings in the "garden." Humid evening? Grab a cold Presidente beer, sparkling water, or Coke from the well-stocked refrigerator. Make a note of your purchase on the room slip. This is a kitchen that is to be enjoyed as if one were at home, but with trust placed in guests to be responsible and respectful. Mahona B&B is not in front of the beach. It is, almost by design, set a few hundred feet back, protected from the motorcycles and noise of the ocean road. It is an escape. It is a place to visit, remember, and revisit. Again, and again.

I didn't have any doubt when I saw the post from Casa Mahona that this will be the better place to go for our holidays! But everything that I thought is too short to describe how beautiful it is. Las terrenas in Samana is a paradise for everyone, no matter the age. Casa Mahona it is without any doubt the most charming place in Dominican Republic. Veronique & Jacques are two amazing beautiful people, always sharing knowledge and experiences. We were there for 15 days and it felt so short, that I have left with tears. It was a real pleasure to share at Casa Mahona the most incredible days. The bungalows are amazing, they are built with all the "charme" from the colonial houses with the French elegance of the hosts. Veronique & Jacques took care of all little detail. We have enjoyed delicious fruits & juices, an unforgettable pineapple mermelade, insuperable crepes, gorgeous garden with all kind of flowers , herbs & plants, the pool always crystal clear. I could continue forever because they are amazing. Thanks for everything I will always remember, lots of Love

Mahona B&B was the perfect little oasis. Veronique and Jack were very accommodating and made are stay that much better. Breakfast was great and the best part was always getting fresh squeezed juice. We went during the off season so things were much more quite and less busy. It was a quick walk to the beach, just down the street along with a board walk of little restaurants. There was also an ATM there and made it easy to get money out when we needed it, that way we were never carrying a lot at one time. This is definitely a little local village not a resort type environment at all, you really get to see the culture and the people there are very nice. The only downside was getting there. We rented a car and getting out of Santo Domingo to the toll road was much harder than it looks. If you do rent a car, get GPS or have your phone activated for (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps (even then it's hard). Be prepared for some crazy driving right off the bat but once you hit the toll road things will be much smoother. Remember to get pesos at the airport for all of your tolls. If you need more money on the way or want snacks there is a great Texaco a few miles into the toll road. The drive was beautiful and scenic as you went through the countryside and the mountains. It was about a 2 hours drive. But again, driving is intense so if you are all worried it's definitely worth spending the money on a taxi. I for one would never drive again. Overall our stay was absolutely amazing and the beaches and food where wonderful. Sunsets are stunning but remember your bug spray! Make sure you try one of Jack's signature drinks and if you ever need anything, they are there to help. Thanks again Jack and Veronique for such a lovely stay!

I went to the hotel with my two kids (3 & 5) and my husband. The room we got was perfect for my family size. The beds were comfortable and the whole space and decoration was very nicely done. The small swimming pool ws perfect for my kids. Veronique and Jack were excellent hosts, they helped us to organize our whale watching tour as well as got us a taxi to take us from Santo Domingo to Las Terrenas. They gave us information about the town, where to go to eat, get a hair cut for the kids, etc. Veronique was great providing all this information before we arrived and ensuring that our stay was comfortable. Overall they were very attentive and nice with our kids, they kept saying that the place was not very kid friendly, but they made it very easy for us to stay there and feel comfortable. The place is beautiful, we loved the garden and the lay out. I wish we have stayed longer, I really feel taken care, welcomed and also very well located.

We had a great stay at the Bungalow, the place is new new done. The bungalow look exactly as showed at the picture :-) the project locks great. The breakfast was just a very nice service and a great start in the new day. Its a short short walk of 2 min. to the beach and the pueblo pescador to have a perfect dinner.
