Politeness and civility. No smoking inside but we have an outdoor terrace. Very important to us!
My friends and I had a great stay at the Carriage House! Perfect location, plenty of space, and great hospitality. The fresh-baked cookies waiting for us were great as well. We would definitely return!
Julia and Peter were wonderful and very hospitable. We traveled with our dog and had no issues with anything. Location was great within a few minutes driving of major areas. Carriage house itself was clean and well furnished.
Julia& Peter were very welcoming hosts and will also give you your own time & space when you want it.The loan of their bikes and general recommendations made our short stay greatly enriched.
We recently stayed at Julia and Peter's BnB. The room was exactly as pictured and non of the previous comments lied. Julia and Peter were extremely friendly and welcoming, the room was neat, clean, well taken care of. It was like a home away from home. The neighborhood was nice, quiet and safe. We would highly recommend staying here during your next visit to the Portland area. We would definitely stay here again!
Julia and Peter have a fantastic listing! We found it clean and well-kept, and the amenities better than many hotels.
Getting there was easy from the local Amtrak station and the neighborhood was quiet. Plus, it's easy to get most places from this location, and the fact that they had bikes to borrow made it easier.
Plus, Peter and Julia were gracious hosts and offered an open door if we needed anything, both before our stay and during. They were quick to respond back to my questions and very genial.
If you need a place to stay in Portland, stay at the Carriage House!
Julia and Peter have a lovely guest apartment for a getaway in Portland. It is very spacious and provides a nice sanctuary from busy days of sightseeing. The apartment gets a nice breeze on cool days, though an AC unit was available if we got too warm - it worked great! The neighborhood is safe and quiet, and the hosts were extremely welcoming and amiable. We had a car to get around town (which I might recommend), and Julia was kind enough to offer up their bikes for our use. The location is a nice base of operations, close to the airport and a quick drive or bike ride to the city's many attractions. We would highly recommend staying here!
The Carriage House was just as the pictures showed. Very clean and comfortable. The garden leading into the entrance is adorable. Julia & Peter were exceptional hosts. We suggest the Carriage House to a couple or a single person looking to see the sights in Portland.
About the Host, Julia & Peter
We love walking/biking/kayaking and are attempting a summer of fishing up on the lakes.
Enjoy whisking off for a quick trip to Boston by train for a day trip or splurge on an overnight stay.
We have the best of the best here in Portland. A walk into town for a morning at the museum, many choices for lunch in the afternoon. A possible boat ride/ferry ride in the afternoon, then watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail on the oceanfront. Ahhhh, bliss :-)
