Politeness and civility. No smoking inside but we have an outdoor terrace. Very important to us!
Julia and Peter were very accommodating, friendly, and quick to respond. The room as as advertised - clean and comfy, very close to the bus station and short drive from downtown Portland - only a few minutes. Overall great experience!
We had a great stay at Julia & Peter's studio apartment. Plenty of space and privacy and all the amenities we needed for our 2 day Portland visit. They greeted us when we arrived and made some great recommendations for things to see & do in Portland. They even had homemade cookies for us! I highly recommend their place for your next visit to Portland.
This was our first experience with Airbnb and it worked out great. We were very happy we decided to stay at this property. It was clean, close to the Old Port area (two minute drive), and an excellent value. The hosts are very nice and easy to work with.
Julia and Peter made me feel most welcome! They were awaiting my arrival and spent a good while chatting with me about my vacation. The carriage house was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked--I really appreciated the thoughtfulness of offering lots of extras: plush towels, a hairdryer, microwave, all sorts of lotions, coffee, fast wifi, etc. They gladly offer tips of places in Portland to eat, visit and walk. One couldn't ask for a better airbnb experience. Julia and Peter set the bar high and then surpass it.
The Carriage House was the perfect place for our short stay. The accommodation was great and only a short drive/bus journey from downtown Portland. Julia and Peter were really welcoming; the cookies provided on arrival were greatly appreciated and soon disappeared! They were really helpful and around to answer any questions we had about the area.
A great place to stay in Portland, Maine. We were welcomed with fresh baked cookies and a lot of enthousiasm. The room was spacious and clean. It had everything you needed for a pleasant stay (e.g. coffee machine, fridge, airconditioning and lots of folders about things to do in the neighborhood). The location is great if you are travelling with public transport very near the bus terminal and a grocery store (although it is 40 minutes walk to the center and although on the bus line, the buses are a bit infrequent - but there are two bikes available).
Julia & Peter were great and the location cant be beat. They were really friendly and made great restaurant recommendations. The Carriage house is very homey and comfortable and it has everything we needed including a great couch to relax on, coffee maker, a fridge and the bed was comfortable too. Cant wait to come back.
About the Host, Julia & Peter
We love walking/biking/kayaking and are attempting a summer of fishing up on the lakes.
Enjoy whisking off for a quick trip to Boston by train for a day trip or splurge on an overnight stay.
We have the best of the best here in Portland. A walk into town for a morning at the museum, many choices for lunch in the afternoon. A possible boat ride/ferry ride in the afternoon, then watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail on the oceanfront. Ahhhh, bliss :-)
