Politeness and civility. No smoking inside but we have an outdoor terrace. Very important to us!
The Carriage House was lovely and had all of the amenities we'd hoped for. Julia and Peter were very friendly and welcomed us immediately. We felt very comfortable during our stay and appreciated we were able to bring our dog with us on our trip. The only negative was the immediate curb appeal. Their house is located behind the carriage house so when you first pull up, it just looks like a stand alone garage. The street is a mix of cute houses and some not so nice houses. When we were greeted by Julia and Peter and walked behind the garage, their yard and house are very cute with lovely landscaping. The Carriage House was exactly as pictured and described so we were very relieved!
Really great spot!! Close to everything! Host was very gracious, welcoming and accommodating.
Julia and Peter are perfect hosts. Communication was clear and prompt. We arrived in a snowstorm and Julia texted us several times during the day, moving check in time to morning in case we wanted to get on the road earlier than planned to beat the storm. The place is tastefully decorated, cozy, warm, private, comfortable, and immaculate. Julia and Peter have set up the apartment very thoughtfully, anticipating their guests' needs: a mini fridge stocked with a variety of seltzers, microwave, plenty of clean linens, wine glasses, corkscrew, coffee and tea. There is off street parking in the driveway. The location is good for exploring Portland and there is even a homemade donut shop at the end of the street! We highly recommend the Carriage House at Libbytown.
We had such a lovely weekend at The Carriage House! There was more than enough space for 2 people and a little dog. When we weren't exploring Portland, we played board games we brought in the toasty warm Carriage House. A large variety of coffees and teas were provided, as well as some delicious cookies! A donut shop is at the end of the street and downtown Portland is a super short drive away. Julia and Peter were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the area. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this location to anyone visiting Portland.
Julia was so nice and very responsive via text in the days preceding our stay as well as the day of. When arriving late evening, she came out to greet us and pointed out features in the home she had prepared, including some homemade cookies. The place was tidy, cozy, and clean, and we enjoyed the quaint neighborhood and the short drive to downtown. The separate unit and terrace in the yard was beautiful and so welcoming! We loved our stay here as well as the ease of coordinating with these hosts--would definitely recommend for a stay in the area.
Julie and Peter were wonderful hosts. The accommodation was great, close to city, airport and had plenty of parking. We would definitely stay here again.
Thanks for the cookies!
Julia and Peter were wonderful hosts and the apartment in Libbytown was truly lovely and perfect for our needs. We only wish we could have stayed longer as there was so much still to explore in and around Portland. Peter's tips on the fresh lobster were much appreciated (and thoroughly enjoyed!) And the welcome cookies were extra yummy! Can't wait to come back to this beautiful part of the US. Franco & Tanith, London UK
Hi Franco - Elvis was supposed to play Portland the day after he died. We have a friend that used to work at the box office and her boss has a stash of tickets in a safe. She told him that we have an Elvis room so he gave her those tickets to give to us. Personally we are not Elvis fans but we happily added them to our "collection". Hope your travels are going great! Take care to you and Tanith - Julia & Peter
We love walking/biking/kayaking and are attempting a summer of fishing up on the lakes.
Enjoy whisking off for a quick trip to Boston by train for a day trip or splurge on an overnight stay.
We have the best of the best here in Portland. A walk into town for a morning at the museum, many choices for lunch in the afternoon. A possible boat ride/ferry ride in the afternoon, then watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail on the oceanfront. Ahhhh, bliss :-)
