Peace and quiet

This home is in a quiet area.
Our home is in charming Montford just north of downtown Asheville. Our lower level guest suite has its own private entry to come and go as you please. The open floor plan has a queen bed, lounge space with fold out double sofa), Wifi & TV, table w/ chairs, and kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee and toaster. You'll spend most your time out exploring, and as locals, we offer tips for the outdoors, food, activities, and other unique local favorites.

The space
The entire suite is an open floor plan (apart from the bathroom), where different sections serve the purposes of sleeping, lounging, eating and TV watching (with local channels, Netflix, Prime and Hulu streaming). It is ideal for a couple on the Queen bed, but the foldout sofa sleeps an additional one on a Double sized mattress. An infant pack-n-play is available upon request. The windows look out on our wooded backyard, where songbirds greet the morning. There is an outside patio and platform and chairs if you wish to spend time outside. We've stocked the bookshelf and coffee table with lots of local resources: trail maps, guide books, local history and local authors. Be sure to check out our curated welcome folder of our very own suggested things to see, do, eat and drink! You'll have space for one vehicle in our driveway, and the suite is accessed by sloped stone path (no steps).

Other things to note
For those considering a longer stay who might want to cook some of their own meals, we have a plug in hot plate with dual burners, along with basic cooking supplies.

We do live above the suite and ask those returning late from being out to be respectful and quiet in the neighborhood and inside the suite after 10:00pm.

Neighborhood highlights

We are located 1.3 miles from downtown, and even if you don't consider that as "walkable" as we do, we encourage everyone to try it if the weather permits, as it passes through Montford, on the same streets that the tourist trolleys drive down to see the historic homes. We love our immediate neighborhood for its walkability, unique homes from different time periods, tree-filled tranquility and friendly neighbors. Even the black bears are regular visitors (we've seen them more in our neighborhood than we have in years of hiking in the mountains). They are always docile, just sniffing around for food, and will go on their way peacefully if they are not antagonized. As for or human food, there are several neighborhood restaurants that are walkable, the closest being Nine Mile (Jamaican themed) which is one of Asheville's most popular.

I've traveled a good bit for both personal and work reasons, and the travel I've most enjoyed has been culturally immersive travels and living short stints in other countries. I work as an educational travel planner and history tour guide. Living in a really cool city amid natural scenery has allowed me to also play host. I enjoy giving tips on the things I enjoy in my area - mountain trails, music venues, microbreweries, eclectic restaurants, dancing, festivals, urban walking/biking/running, water activities. The same things I'll enjoy doing/exploring in your area.
