Have a great day!!
Kei and kotaro are awesome! They are super super friendly and helpful. They met us at the station and took us to dinner. Their house is a perfect place to stay, and equipped for cooking. Just a short walk from ikebukuro station, and plenty of shops in walking distance. Free pocket wifi is a godsend also.
Highly recommended. We'll meet up with them when we return to tokyo.
Kotaro and Kei are so nice!!!we had dinner together and they are so friendly and talkative. The house is perfect and I just want to stay in this house next time I travel Tokyo. The location is good I can walk from the house to Ikebukuro station. Very quiet at night.
Kotaro and Kei are great hosts, friendly and cheerful and always quick to reply to messages. They received us at the station, and at the end of our stay they accompanied us back to the station and showed us how to get to Narita. Thanks again to Kotaro for dragging my suitcase with the broken wheel! On our last night, we went to eat sushi with Kotaro and Kei and their other two German guests at a great restaurant in Ikebukuro, which was a lot of fun.
The apartment was clean and well-equipped. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, there are a few convenience stores close by. Ikebukuro station is within walking distance (we needed 20 min). There is a train station close to the apartment, which is convenient when you have luggage. The portable wi-fi was convenient and helpful. If we ever come back to Tokyo, we would love to stay at Kotaro's and Kei's place again. Highly recommended!
Our stay at Lil Aparto Ikebukuro was fantastic. As the other reviewers have said, the apartment is small, but it's comfortable for at least a couple. My wife and I felt it to be a great, home-feeling place in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed eating breakfast while hearing the tinkle windchime on the door of the across-the-way's neighbor's house, hearing neighborhood people talking to each other in the morning.
The bed was the most comfortable of the 5 beds we slept on during our time in Japan, a stay that included another AirBnB, 2 hotels and a Ryokan. The kitchen allowed us to eat within our restricted diet thanks to a very nearby grocery store (and a slightly cheaper one, further away by Ikebukuro Station). The sofa was comfortable for sitting on, and zabuton are provided for sitting at the table while eating or meal food-preparation. The apartment is clean, attractive and cute, and very well-appointed (though double-check dates on any food/cooking items that may have been left from previous guests, common sense). The apartment is not mindlessly close to Ikebukuro Station, but 15 minutes seems like a fair estimate depending on how fast you walk (closer to Kita-Ikebukuro Station, but that is a commuter line that is a bit pricey for 1 stop of travel). The only time we found the distance to be something considered was when we had already had a full day of walking the city, and were coming home with groceries. But even then, it's an easy walk with no elevation to speak of. The pocket wifi was a wonderful luxury - it was fast and had good battery life!
A separate section regarding the hosts Kotaro-san and Kei-san: they set an absurdly high standard for all AirBnB hosts to strive to achieve. They are an outgoing, adorable, fun and open-minded couple that had me and my wife hoping we left them with as much as they had given us. Communication was always prompt, and though we had no problems they needed to attend to, we have every confidence in them. Staying at this apartment is worth it just to have met them.
Lastly - when discussing with my wife whether we would recommend this apartment, the biggest factor to come into play was the location. Was the distance a big deal when we were living there? Absolutely not. Was it as convenient as some hotels or other AirBnBs we'd stayed at (5 mins from a station)? No. What it boils down to is what sort of experience do you want while staying in Tokyo. If you want a hotel-like feel that's meters away from nightlife and transportation, look elsewhere. If you want to feel what it's like to REALLY live in Tokyo while still being convenient for everyday living (particularly to Japanese standards), you are hard-pressed to find better than Lil Aparto Ikebukuro. If you want to stay with top-notch hosts with a proven reputation, stay anywhere hosted by Kotaro-san and Kei-San!
My wife and I are very happy to have stayed here. The apartment is very clean and comfortable. Kei Kotaro and helped us a lot to adapt to Japan. We really felt welcome to this beautiful country.
Dear Kotaro and Kei.
Thank you so much for letting me stay at you sweet little place. I was very comfortable there and it was very helpful with the telephone and portable Wi-Fi. What I appreciate the most was your company. You are so friendly and social. The best hosts ever. You are super. :)
I booked for my partner Brad to stay with Kei and Kotaro, here is his review:
The apartment was a very comfortable little place to come back to at the end of each action packed day in Tokyo. The bed is very comfortable with heating and cooling provided and the shower works well too.
The pocket wi-fi was a life saver and even though I didn't really use it, it was good to have kitchen facilities as well.
The neighbourhood is really lovely and quiet and even though the apartment is a bit of a walk from central Ikebukuro, it's not too bad and it's even closer if you use the local train station.
Kei and Kotaro are really lovely hosts who go out of their way to make sure you're well taken care of. They took me out to a couple of great little places with awesome food for very little money that I never would have found normally.
All in all I really enjoyed my stay.
everything was perfect. the wifi router was really helpfull and the apartment clean! thanks guys!!
Had an amazing japanese experience thanks to Kotaro and Kei. They contributed to the whole trip by taking the time to show us around and giving us great tip. The apartment was clean and about 15min from the nearest subway/ferry station.
Sweet little place perfect for two. Good hot shower, pretty close to Ikebukuro station and the heating is fine (after it first warms up). Thank you for everything! We enjoyed our stay very much :)
