About This Listing
My beautiful house dates from 1875 and is 5 minutes walk from the centre of town in a quiet conservation area. It has a private entrance and it's own garden with a patio area.
The room itself is a spacious double room with a king size bed, sofa bed, wardrobe ,chest of drawers and a round table that extends into an oval table. The price includes towels and bedding and broadband, fuel and local taxes. The room also has a very pleasant view over the garden from the large bay window. You will have access to my well equipped kitchen/living room. If you have a car , you can unload your bags in my drive and there's lots of free parking 1 minutes' walk from my house
This room does not have its own private bathroom, but it shares a bathroom with just one other bedroom ( The other two bedrooms have their own ensuite bathrooms.)
The Playwright Restaurant,is , in my opinion, the best restaurant in Dundee. If you book for lunch or around 6pm the prices are very reasonable for an excellent meal and great service. The Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre is a short walk away, and hosts exhibitions from international artists, and also runs courses and workshops, and has two cinemas which show the best foreign films, and some great classics as well. The cinemas have been recently refurbished and now regularly show performances from the Met and the National Theatre in (website hidden) Andrews is 20 minutes away by car and is the home of golf with the famous Old Course and a fine seafood restaurant and places you can go for a high tea. Nearby there are picturesque little fishing villages like Crail and Anstruther where you can buy fresh crabs and lobsters directly from the fishermen.
Abertay university is five minutes away on foot and Dundee university is 15 minutes away.

Great stay in a beautiful room. It was spacious and having the wood stove added a cosy feel. Kathleen was a lovely host and we enjoyed use of the kitchen and facilities
When we arrived it was quite a mess in the garden. The reason are the lot of wood from her son. But when you come into the house or the room, you will realize that it's the same inside.... First we get another room as we booked because she had to use it otherwise. The floor, the room, the bathroom was all very dirty. In the kitchen the laundry was drying over the table and the food. The worst experience we did at all.
hi thanks for your feedback. I gave you a free upgrade which gave you a much more spacious room and you accepted it. I think I will put many more photos online to show the current situation in the house and the garden so that everyone can see what they are booking- I have to say this is a lived in house with the owner resident, not an empty apartment without a resident owner and guests must realise that they are in someone's actual home, not in a bed and breakfast where the owner lives in a separate flat or a hotel where no owner is resident. At the same time as i have guests who report the house is not clean or tidy, other guests staying at the same time say that it is both clean and tidy. Both statements cannot simultaneously be true. Thanks for your feedback I enjoyed meeting you. My reviews say that i am an open and approachable person. Its much better to give feedback to your host while you are resident so that problems can be solved while you are resident and not say that everything is fine when that is not a true reflection of what you really feel.I wish you all the best on your travels and I enjoyed meeting you
Kathleen is a nice host - friendly, providing everything needed for her guests. The house is in a quiet part of Dundee, up on a rather steep hill but just a 10-15 min walk away from the centre. I was lucky to be upgraded to an ensuite room and it was brilliant. The bed is super cosy, I had a good night sleep and good rest.
Kathleen hardly welcomed us at all. We got given a key to our room. We were left to explore the kitchen and the bathroom on our own. The stay felt very anonymous and does not reflect the spirit of airbnb.
The entire house was very cold but Kathleen kindly offered us to upgrade to a bigger room with a fire place.
The room's floor was not clean at all. The room itself doesn't match the pictures in the ad: different bed, no desk etc...
The location in Dundee is fine, the city centre can be reached and explored by foot if you feel like it (its quite hilly though). If you have a car it is very nice to cross the tayroad bridge to tayport where beautiful walks through the Tentsmuir forest can be made.
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Kathleen is a great host! She was very welcoming, kind and helpful.
The house is very nice in a pretty and quiet area, not far from the city centre. The room is clean and comfortable, with a very nice and private bathroom!

About the Host, Kathleen
My beautiful house dates from 1857 and is 5 minutes walk from the centre of town, in a quiet conservation area.
I think the most important thing in life is to never say anything to another person that could not stand as the very last thing you ever said to that person and that friendship is the most important thing in life.
