After reading reviews for Banyan Camp, my sister and I decided to prioritize our plans around availability at the camp; we absolutely made the right choice in doing so. The location is a bit tricky to find; however, any additional effort put in to getting there is absolutely worth it.
The setting is beautiful - a tree house for adults - nestled in nature and the property is extremely well managed and tidy. I was amazed at how well maintained and clean the camp was kept; even the nighttime lighting (mostly oil lamps) was well thought out and carefully placed - well done!
The service at Banyan Camp was phenomenal: a unique combination of feeling totally at home, and at the same time, served coffee and meals- being waited on. Our meals were magical - plentiful, and healthy; delicious coffee and tea.
The first evening, our host arranged a boat trip (very reasonably priced), which I strongly recommend. Even not being an avid bird-watcher, I found myself in awe of the wildlife around me, both on the boat trip and at Banyan Camp.
I can not recommend this place more highly. Stay here, prepare to relax and enjoy the beauty that Sri Lanka's nature and Banyan Camp has to offer.
One of the best experiences in Sri Lanka! The place and the camp are amazing. The staff was very kind and fantastic! Don't miss it if you go to Sri Lanka!
What can I say, Banyan Camp is a spectacular place and no one should miss out on this.
We were two couples travelling together and had the whole place to ourselves. The whole set up of this treehouse style place was incredible and so well thought out.
Set next to a large lake, the setting is incredibly quiet and allows you to relax with nature.
The meals provided by the staff were exceptional and a lot of time and thought was put into making each dining experience (particularly dinner) so memorable. Without revealing too much, we received an incredible surprise on our second and last night which we will never forget and has to be one of the biggest highlights of our two week trip in Sri Lanka.
The place is immaculately clean and the staff were friendly and always on hand to attend to our needs.
Souhaine was a great host and whilst we never met him personally, he was fast in responding to emails and ensured that we had everything we needed.
