Interaction with Guests
I do not live in the building but i do always come to the apartment to get the room ready for our guests. I like to make sure that all is clean and that the guest is satisfied. I have a 24 hour check-in system in place to accommodate any late check-ins or any guests that are a bit late. you can reach via mobile phone or AirBnB message at any time, please don't hesitate :)
I used to run my guest house on this very street, so i should know the area very well. The flat is right in the heart of London so it is difficult to pick out any one place in particular that you must visit. But for eating out my favourite is Old Compton Street, one of the most renowned places in London to serve dinner til late at night. The British Museum is at the heart of Bloomsbury, a mere walking distance away from the apartment. Historically, Bloomsbury is associated with the education, medicine and mostly, the art. Therefore the area sets a sophisticated yet very modern atmosphere. The Bloomsbury theatre, a very respected theatre within the eyes of Londoners and actors/actresses alike; is located within the area.
The closest tube stations are Tottenham Court Road (Central and Northern line) and Holborn (Victoria and Central line, both are a 5 minute walk away.
No smoking inside the premises.
No pets allowed inside the apartments.
No parties to keep the apartments clean please.
We stayed at this place for 2 weeks. First up - yes, it is small, however, it is clean and well looked after. Every day I saw Peter come in to vacuum, clean the bathroom, check if there is enough washing powder. The place is unrivaled in location, a breath away from the national museum and within a 15 minute walk from anything you can think of, and 5 from the tube. It's well connected by bus. Maggie and Peter were quick to respond to questions, any concerns and run the place very professionally. =)
We did not see host. We were surprised that we had to share bathroom and kitchen.
Maggie made the accommodations a complete convenience. I zipped in and, at checkout time, zipped out.
The location is convenient for every major tourist area of London. I preferred to walk, but a tube station is 3 min walk away. The area also seems very safe.
The bathroom/shower is shared with other tenants, but there was never an issue of cleanliness or use when I wanted to use it.
The one downside is the thinness of the walls, which means you can hear conversations in other rooms, and people walking down the hallway. This prevented me from calling home at nights, since I didn't want to bother other tenants.
I stayed with a friend for 4 days and everything was great! The location is the best, the place itself is clean (bedroon, bathroom and kitchen), the option to check-in 24 hours was very convenient for us since we were supposed to arrive around 2am (which turned out to be 5am because of a flight delay). We didn't get the chance to meet Maggie, but for each message I sent or phonecall I got a quick reply and all the instruction were very clear.
the room we stayed in was on the ground floor which was good for us because we had large suitcases.
This was my first experience with airbnb and I don't have any complaints.
With this listing you're paying for the location. The room itself and the building it's in are kinda run down. The bed is extremely uncomfortable. On the plus side, Maggie is very accommodating and easy to deal with. Check-in is well organized and set up in a way where you can do it at whatever time is most convenient. Two other issues were that the toilet (in the shared bathroom) doesn't flush well, and there was a weird sound coming from the wall.
Overall, I probably would not book this listing again, but it suited my purposes (a last minute room in central London) well.
The apartment's location is very good - it has easy access to most of the tube lines and the British Museum in particular.
The wifi was good and the furnishings were adequate. The only issues are that the walls are thin and that the bathroom is shared with other tenants. Otherwise it was a good stay and we had no complaints.
My sister and I decided to stay at this location because of its close proximity to the British Museum, one of our main destinations. The self check-in process was very simple. The room was what was advertised and what was needed. One thing I would keep an eye out is the thin walls. I could clearly hear the people next to us when they were having a normal conversation. It was even worse when they decided to have loud sex. My sister tripped and fell in the room by accident and I'm sure the people downstairs heard! Sorry! As for the kitchen I can't write a review since we didn't use it. Another thing that wasn't properly advertised was the bathroom. The pictures make it look clean, but in fact there is mold and lime rust around the tub as well as certain parts of the sink. I don't think I'll stay here again. Hope this helps!
