Staying at David and Jane's house in Vieques was fantastic. We were picked up from the ferry station and brought to our car rental location, which was really helpful. We then were led to the house, and were so happy with what we found! It is a beautiful home with great views. The bed is also really comfortable. Access to laundry a definite plus! The house really has everything we needed, even stuff for the beach! You won't regret staying here. The neighbors are also really friendly across the street, and it is so fun to see everybody passing by on their horses. Thanks so much to David and Jane!
My boyfriend and I and another couple stayed at Casa Flamboyin from April 16th through April 23rd. It was our first time in Puerto Rico...all of us! The house was just as pictured (minus the beautiful plantings) but came with all of the amenities we needed. We shopped on the main island and in Vieques and stocked the fridge for meals at "home" and snacks for our on-the-go days. We especially appreciated the beach supplies - great sand chairs, cooler and snorkeling gear. The house is located in a neighborhood so you get a real sense of what it's like to live on the island. The neighborhood, however, was quite noisy with the chickens, roosters crowing (they start around 4:00 a.m.) and dogs barking. The neighbors themselves were friendly enough, but also quite noisy. The air conditioner, ceiling fan and sound machine in the bedroom provided enough "white noise" to drown out some of the noise outside. The center of town was within walking distance, albeit a healthy walk, but doable if you are moderately fit. The weather was beautiful every day, 85 degrees with a light breeze, and the beaches were stunning. We had a lovely time!

This was our second time staying at David and Jane's lovely home, and we loved it just as much the second time around! The house is a perfect retreat with kitchen supplies/beach gear/board games/movies and all the other amenities you'd need. We loved eating breakfast on the deck each morning and watching the sunset from the roof. Vieques is absolutely gorgeous, and this house was the perfect place to explore it from!
We had such a perfect, amazing time! It was everything we were hoping for. We cooked whole fish, laughed at roosters, and danced to samba! Such a paradise.
We loved staying at Casa Flamboyan. The space was lovely, the view was great, and we liked that the location was away from the tourist crowds. The roosters mentioned by others were the only downside, but after the first night we discovered the white noise machine in the bedroom and slept soundly through the 1am onwards constant crowing. We quickly made friends with the cats and enjoyed finding them on the porch each morning when we got up.
We spent most of our time at the less crowded beaches (Pata Prieta, Chivas and the Black Sand Beach were among our favorites), and we discovered that continuing on the road the house is on away from route 200 will get to the wildlife refuge beaches faster than going through town -- if you have a maps app on your phone it will help you find the way. We loved having the beach chairs and umbrella, but make sure to wear lots of sunscreen as we managed to get sunburns while sitting at the beach under the umbrella!
We loved our stay at Casa Flamboyan! Vieques is absolutely beautiful and staying a house that was well equipped made it even better. The house fit the description, comfortable, great amenities (especially the blender and beach gear!). The neighborhood is residential and full of locals. If you're looking for tourists, this is not the right place for you. The only downside was probably the rooster coop next door. But honestly, a few piña coladas and some ear plugs and you'll be fine.
All in all, we loved our stay and would definitely recommend to anyone. Also, shout out to Joanne and Harry for the awesome welcome and help when we were there.
About the Host, David And Jane
My wife and I are retired school teachers. We first visited Vieques in 1995 with family friends and quickly fell in love with the beaches and Island charm. In 2007, we decided to buy a home of our own on the Island with our son.
In our spare time, we love to travel and spend time with our family. We have equipped Casa Flamboyan with everything we'd want for an enjoyable family holiday. Just bring your swim suits and enjoy!
