The Studio is much more than a room or bedroom; it's a a private studio that feels like an apartment.
It's a Private, Furnished Studio - quite spacious - located within a larger Apartment - with a separate, shared kitchen and bath in a different area of the apartment.
It's a quiet space located on a quiet street, not a through street.
It contains: exposed brick walls and wood floors. Air-conditioner, ceiling fan, air-filter unit, wireless internet access , a large wooden writing table/desk, a white work table, plants, rugs, a few photographs and pieces of artwork, and two tall windows that let in considerable sunlight.
There's a futon sofa/bed with lots of pillows. Towels, sheets, pillow cases, blankets, etc., for use with the futon.
Also: 2 stereo/CD/speaker systems that offer very good sound. Can also receive inputs from an IPod, etc.
In another area of the apartment is a spacious, sunny kitchen and bathroom - not part of the private studio space, but located in a separate area of the apartment. The kitchen is well stocked with a large, modern refrigerator/freezer, a very nice set of pots and pans, plates, utensils, etc.
The Private Studio is on the second floor of a traditional walk-up building. One short flight up from ground level.
The surrounding East Village neighborhood contains a fascinating mixture of restaurants, night spots, cafes, health food stores, etc. - some of the most unique places in the city. If you like walking in the city, Greenwich Village and Soho are not far.
Armand study is spacious, comfortable and original. The location is perfect, with many restaurants, cafes, bars ... but the street is very quiet, with two art galleries and a church.
Wifi is not very reliable but in the kitchen area and bathroom works better than in the study and we can to use it there.
The relation quality/price is fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay.
Armand's space is lovely. It's a quirky apartment that feels very homely.
65$ become more like 75$ including all extra costs, (which you should be aware of) which is still good for that area. It's the right price, however, for an apartment like this. We liked it, but only because we like quirky lived-in spaces.
Fresh air is a little hard to get and there are no mosquito nets which made for a few sleepless nights.
The situation with having to remember the key every time you want to go to the toilet because you'll otherwise lock yourself out, is a little annoying but nothing you cant get used to.
Internet is unreliable, but Armand promised he'd look into it.
Overall a nice and unusual place in a great area with a caring host.
'tis a rather high, calm, convenient room to the street (not very noisy, no through trafic), and much space for relaxing. To the kitchen and the bathroom is another door from the corridor that locks itself when leaving (so you have to mind you and make sure you got the kitchen key in your pocket!). We were allowed to iron our clothes (we were going to attend a wedding ceremony of our friend). Communication things went smoothly. We felt together in the need of separating garbage. Also we enjoyed the water filtering system.
