When designing Grey Cloud House, we wanted the interior to feel like an extension of the beautiful wooded property it was situated on. Vintage charm & cottage feels await you when stepping inside.

The 3.5 acre property gives you the seclusion of a cabin retreat, while offering all of the upsides of a city vacation, being only 20 minutes to the Twin Cities. Bring your kayaks for a morning paddle on the river, enjoy a picnic in the glass house for lunch, & head to the city for dinner at night.

The space
Grey Cloud House is a secluded, 1966 aframe located on 3.5 acres of wooded land and just a short drive to a public boat launch. The property includes a glass greenhouse to dine in, as well as a gazebo off the deck for some added shade. There are two beautiful living spaces: the living room on the main floor (perfect for watching a movie and relaxing), and the loft upstairs (which is the perfect spot to play a board game or read a book). The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable; they are the perfect place for guests to catch up on rest. Lastly, the kitchen comes well equipped with everything you might need to create the perfect meal for your night out in the glass house (i.e. gorgeous, vintage dishware, pots and pans, large cutting boards).

IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you’re booking with us during the snowy months (usually December through April, sometimes November and May as well) we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you drive an all wheel drive vehicle, as the gravel driveway is on an incline up to the house, and is fairly long. It’s plowed and salted regularly, but we can’t always guarantee exact plow timing.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the aframe, gazebo, glass house, and yard. Please note that the woods beyond the glass house is not our property. Parking is available in front of the garage, as well as on the gravel driveway next to the house.

Other things to note
*PLEASE NOTE*

Please check back for available dates if the month in which you are hoping to book is blocked! We are currently opening up booking 1-2 months in advance.

We do have a two night minimum; however, please reach out if there is a night in between bookings that you'd like to claim!

Quiet hours are between 10:00 pm - 7:00 am. Only confirmed guests allowed at the house during quiet hours. Please be respectful of our neighbors at ALL TIMES and try to keep noise down. We want to keep the island a quiet retreat for all who are there.

Although beautiful, the staircase at the cabin is a narrow, spiral staircase (see photo in our listing) and it’s the only way to get to the upper level. We know that some people may find them difficult to climb and come down from, particularly older guests who struggle with stairs. It may also be difficult to carry large bags/suitcases up the staircase so you may want to plan to have a smaller bag ready to bring up. The upstairs has a queen bedroom and a bedroom with two twin beds. It also has the loft in which we have a table for reading, board games, etc. The main level has two bedrooms with king beds, as well as the bathroom. The master bedroom on the main level is open to the loft area (so it is not fully enclosed like the other rooms). Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions.

Our cabin is a charming, Mid-century cabin built in the 60’s on a heavily wooded lot, with plenty of wonderful wildlife to see (deer, turkey, eagles, fox, coyotes, etc.). However, with it being an older cabin, we do get bugs in the home from time-to-time, particularly Box Elder Bugs (which are harmless). If you have a fear of bugs or wildlife, this may not be the place for you!

Even though our cabin is situated on 3.5 acres, some of which is the surrounding woods, we ask that you DON’T hike through the woods surrounding the house. It’s very difficult to determine the exact property lines, and we don’t want guests wandering on to other Private Property.

Please remember that some of our appliances, while beautiful, are in fact vintage - NOT new! There may be some normal wear and tear in some of these items (i.e. the refrigerator has some cracked shelves). We've chosen to have these vintage items in our home, because we feel they fit the style of the space best. We hope you feel the same way and can understand that these items are not perfect.

During Winter/Early Spring seasons, we recommend driving an all-wheel drive vehicle if possible, as we can't guarantee road conditions. The driveway is situated on a hill and tends to be slippery (although we do plow and salt regularly).
