About This Listing
Enjoy urban living in our exquisite 3 bed, 3-bathroom house at 17th and Dolores.
Gorgeous open spaces and a mix of modern design and original Victorian details make this architectural gem a lovely home base in San Francisco.
Our recently renovated 2-level home has all the modern amenities and stylish details you could want, while retaining the original charm of this 1877 Victorian in San Francisco's hippest (and oldest) neighborhood. We are a professional, design-oriented family who have created our home over the past few years. We want to find visitors who will appreciate the beautiful spaces and take good care of our home. We love our neighborhood – it’s the best in the city! – and we would love for you to enjoy it from a great home base. (Note: some furnishings are slightly different from what is shown in the photos - all improvements! and other things have changed due to our newest addition, a 1-yr-old)
The building has three floors. There is one unit below ours, and we occupy the top two levels.
The first floor (second floor of the building) is a gracious open floor plan with combined kitchen and living area, trendy entertainment lounge with wonderful see-through glass fireplace, powder room, dining room, and front parlor with piano and cozy carpet play area with wooden toys. Enjoy our designer kitchen with built-in Miele refrigerator, 6-burner + griddle professional Bertazonni range, Thermador dishwasher, porcelain apron sink and stylish large island. The kitchen opens to a large deck, a great place to read for an afternoon or have an evening glass of wine. The back garden has a gracious seating area that we recently competed. If you play piano you’ll enjoy the baby grand piano in the front parlor.
The second floor (third and top floor of the building) has a master suite with four-poster bed, exposed beams, a large soaking tub, dual-head shower, and custom vanity made from salvaged redwood. The guest room has a queen bed, and looks out to the very San Francisco view of a row of Victorians. Guest bathroom is charming and white, with tub/shower. Washer/dryer is available. There is a third bedroom that we currently use as an nursery, but the crib can be moved to accommodate a queen blow-up mattress.
Art, ceramics, plants and design details throughout the house make this a delightful space to be in. For families traveling with small children we have all the extras you need - high chair, toys, changing areas, crib.
Our house is situated in the vibrant Mission Dolores neighborhood, adjacent to the Castro. This is one of the warmest neighborhoods in San Francisco. The house is in foodie heaven, a block from Tartine, Bi Rite, and Delfina.
Children and adults will love being a block from the wonderful Dolores park, and within easy walking distance to the active Valencia and Castro corridors. Public transit is a block away.
Please: no smoking, no pets, no shoes in the house, keep activities reasonably quiet after 10pm on weeknights and midnight on weekends as a courtesy to our neighbors below.
Small dinner parties are welcomed. No parties or large gatherings are permitted unless you obtain prior consent from us. (Doing so will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.)
Foodies will love cooking on the yellow Bertazzoni range with 6 burners, griddle, and two ovens.
We were pleasantly surprised to see that Alice's home is even more beautiful than her listing suggests. We spent a good half hour checking out all of the small art touches and architectural features quite literally saying, "wow," for each new one we found.
Alice was incredibly communicative before, during and after our stay. She worked with us to coordinate our check-in and check-out and even allowed for a slightly later check-out.
She left clear directions on how to use some of the amazing features in the home (like an Apple TV and projector TV viewing experience).
All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our work trip. It was perfect!!
This was one of my favorite places on Airbnb that I have stayed on. The design of the space was amazing. Located just 2 blocks from Dolores Park, the location is great, and very close to a strip of great restaurants, including delfina and farina. The house is essentially 2 floors. The library room has an amazing retractable theater screen! I highly recommend this house if you are staying in SF.
My family (4 adults, 1 child) just spent 4 days in this house over the holidays and had an absolutely wonderful time.
The house was just as described, possibly even better in reality. The design details are all gorgeous and the kitchen area was a particularly great place to congregate. Despite being in an area that boasts some of SF's best restaurants, we ended up cooking many meals here because the kitchen was so warm and inviting.
This house is in the perfect location, a very short walk to the awesome Dolores Park and shops on Valencia St and Mission St. When we did venture out, our neighborhood favorites were Commonwealth for dinner, Craftsman + Wolves for pastries and coffee, and Locanda for dinner and cocktails.
I highly recommend staying here!
Just finished most amazing one week stay at Alice and Peter's home in the Mission district. The location is perfectly situtated near great eateries of the Mission plus Dolores park is just one block away. We gorged at Tartine... ummm.. daily! Their home is even more beautiful than the photos reveal. It is incredibly decorated with gorgeous, modern features . Also has lovely back deck and view of Mission High. The home is bright and has many windows.. Beds and linens were very comfortable. Most of all the hosts are wonderful, caring people who went the extra mile to make sure we were well cared for. Thanks again Alice and Peter!
Beyond our expectations!! The house is in perfect condition, not to mention the gorgeous interior and lay-out. There were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 kids, and we enjoyed every second of our stay. Great kitchen, cozy living area...and again, it was beyond our expectatiions. Alice was very communicative and helpful. She guided us every single step during our stay. And we would love to go back to SF and stay here again.
Thank you Alice!!
