We had a great time camping at Marianna's. When we arrived, we were greeted and shown around by one of the long-term tenants, who was very nice and welcoming. It was very peaceful and we loved the beautiful view and hearing the owls at night. The other campers we met were great, too. As some other reviewers have mentioned, when all of the rooms and campsites are occupied, the wait for the bathroom can be a bit long in the morning. Not a big deal to us, though. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return.
We have other bathrooms that can be unlocked. I need to find a way to let people know that they can mention it to me and I can provide another one if things are full !!!! Got any ideas? Usually it is not an issue, but occasionally it is and I apologize. Would it help if I posted a sign outside the bathroom door, saying if there is a line, please come to my house and I will open another bathroom? This is a problem that can be easily corrected. I am welcome to suggestions. I want people to know that there are other options and I need to find the best way to communicate that. Thank you.
We highly recommend this place. We do so as much for the wonderful host as for the beautiful land. You have everything you need (and a great deal more) to make a home base from which to explore Santa Cruz and the surrounding area. We recommend the Farmer's Market in Aptos, Greyhound Rock County Park 15 miles north of Santa Cruz and Henry Cowell Redwoods SP in Felton.
We camped at Marianna's property in the hills near Santa Cruz. Marianna was a very welcoming host, and the view from the property is gorgeous. The facilities are nice, neat and clean, and Marianna helps all the guests respect each other's space. We'd love to stay here again sometime.
We had a nice stay at Marianna's. She was a great host, even lending me duct tape so I could fix my tent. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were good - you do need to share with other guests so there can be a little wait for the bathroom at times and you need to work around one another in the kitchen if its meal time. We really enjoyed getting to know Leia one of Marianna's permanent tenants, and her big white dog was very sweet but unfortunately he felt the need to "mark his territory" on our tent, hopefully it was a special case and not something he makes a habit of with all his new friends!
I was shocked to learn that the dog "marked his territory" on your tent. I am so sorry. My husband now wants the dog to leave. If that does not happen, Leia will have to keep him chained or indoors when we have campers. I apologize again.
Did you leave a white, neatly folded sheet on the Sunset room porch? If it is yours, what would you like me to do with it.
Again, I apologize for the dog. This is the first time I have heard of that here, and hopefully we will be able to make it the last!!!!
This was a perfect stop for our trip up the coast - I wish we would have had time to spend a few more nights. The view is wonderful -The kitchen and bath set up made for some very comfortable camping . Marianna our host had a wonderful way about her and made us feel very welcome . This is an awesome spot to pitch up for a few days .
My wife and I recently stayed here during the fourth of July holiday weekend, we had hoped to go camping in Big Basin, but it was full, so I searched airbnb and found Marianna's listing, it was actually better for us than to camp at big basin, because it offered the chance to "rough it" and have some amenities (shower, real kitchen and stove, etc.). We put up our tent at the more secluded of the two campsites she offered, the ground was a bit bumpy, so I would highly recommend a thermarest mattress under your sleeping bag if you have one (my wife had one, so she slept fine, i did not, so I had to turn over every now and then to stay comfortable). Marianna was very helpful to us, gave us a general idea of where to go in the area to get provisions and how far it would be to get to a couple of the restaurants near by. The kitchen was clean with the exception of a few spiders (my wife has a bit of a phobia about them), and there were plenty of usable pots, pans, and utensils for us to use, and the refrigerator had space for us to store a few perishables, all of which helped us to vacation on a budget by allowing us to cook for ourselves. The proximity to local attractions was great, seemed like we just had to roll downhill on my motorcycle to get into Santa Cruz proper, where there were plenty of restaurants and shops. The next day we headed out to Big Basin and that was easy enough to get to as well, about 45min away via nice twisty roads for motorcycling. The bathroom was clean and functional, nice water pressure and clean tub. Overall a great experience was had here by my wife and I, we will definitely look up Marianna in the future when we decide to tour around Santa Cruz.
We had a wonderful experience camping on Marianna's property. Marianna had great communication and was very flexible with our arrival time. She met us promptly out front and showed us the property and campsite. The property itself is gorgeous and you can watch the sunset over the hills from your tent! The facilities are very nice and clean. Just steps away from the campsite there is a full bathroom with tub and shower, a full kitchen, and laundry machines. All the amenities were clean and working properly. The campsite is quiet and secluded and you wake up to the sounds of birds and insects - just what we were looking for! Would definitely recommend. Would definitely book again.
Mariana was very kind and welcoming to us. Her property is beautiful and we enjoyed camping at her house. It is not clearly stated but the bathroom is shared with multiple people which can make it difficult to have access when you need it.
I just needed a little place to park my VW van with a place to shower. This was perfect! Marianna was a lovely host and I would stay there again. I felt safe and welcome.
